The
Instacart Mastercard® is a good credit card for people with good credit who want to save extra on Instacart purchases, travel booked through Chase, dining at restaurants, gas-station purchases, and popular streaming services. The
Instacart Credit Card also has a $100 sign-up bonus and a
$0 annual fee, which help make it worth considering. Cardholders get one year of Instacart+ for free, too.
There are some elements of this offer that aren’t so appealing, though. For example, you won’t enjoy a low introductory APR on purchases or balance transfers. Instead, you’ll have to pay interest at a high rate if you carry a balance from month to month. This card also has a high balance transfer fee, so it’s not well-suited to transfers.
Below, you can find more details to help you decide whether or not to apply for the
Instacart Credit Card.
Instacart Credit Card Review Summary
$100 credit and 1 year of Instacart+
If you apply for the
Instacart Credit Card and get approved, you’ll get a $100 credit and Instacart+ for a year upon approval.
Instacart+ normally costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year. It gets you free delivery on orders over $35, reduced service fees, credits equal to 5% back on pickup orders, family account sharing and other perks. Just be careful because Instacart will auto-enroll you for a paid membership when the free year is over.
5% cash back on Instacart and Chase Travel
Cardholders earn
5% back on purchases made through the Instacart app or Instacart.com and charged to the card. That’s nearly 5 times more than the average cash back credit card will give you.
The Instacart Mastercard’s maximum rewards rate also applies to hotels, flights, rental cars and other travel expenses booked through the Chase Travel Center. However, you have to book by phone. You can call 1-833-458-0526 toll-free or use the number on the back of your card.
2% back at restaurants, at gas stations and on select streaming services
Cardholders earn roughly twice the market average for a rewards card when they make purchases from restaurants and gas stations. The 2% cash back rewards rate also applies to streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, YouTube Premium/TV, HBO Max, Showtime, Spotify, Apple Music, Disney+ and more.
1% back on all other purchases
A base rewards rate of 1% is standard for a cash back credit card. Still, you can find cards offering 1.5% or 2% back as a base rate. As a result, it can be effective to get the
Instacart Credit Card solely for its bonus rewards and then use another card for your other expenses.
Flexible redemption options
You can redeem your rewards for a direct deposit or statement credit at any time, with no minimum amount needed. You can also redeem for travel or pay for Instacart orders with rewards.
Inexpensive to own
The
Instacart Credit Card has a
$0 annual fee. This saves cardholders
$21.5 per year compared to the average credit card offer, but the package only includes an Instacart+ membership for the first year. After that, the membership costs extra.
High APR
It’s not a good idea to carry a balance from month to month with this card. Doing so would be very costly. The
Instacart Credit Card’s APR is
20.24% - 28.99% (V), depending on your overall creditworthiness when you apply. But if you’re able to qualify for the
Instacart Credit Card, you likely have a good shot at getting a
credit card with a 0% introductory APR for financing purposes.
700+ credit score needed
The
Instacart Credit Card requires
good credit or better for approval, which means you need a credit score of
700 or higher for good approval odds. Such a credit score requirement is standard for a credit card with quality rewards. You can
check your credit score for free on WalletHub to see where you stand.
