This card is terrible! They have horrible customer service and charge you interest even when you don't have a balance. I had a $4 balance on my card, my payment was due Sept. 20. I Paid it off on Sept. 10. After the statement came out they had charged me interest for carrying a balance when I hadn't carried a balance!! I paid it off!! So, I called to cancel my card because they were ripping me off, they said it was canceled. 2 weeks later I get an email that my statement is available. Not only was my card not canceled, they charged me another interest fee on my $0 balance. Now I have been on hold for over an hour trying to cancel my card...again! NEVER GET THIS CARD! TERRIBLE!!

I had the exact experience! I paid my card off on 9/2 and then I closed the account. I some how got a bill today showing a $4 balance due on my card. So I called again today to close the account! This is down right illegal. Don't open a Macy's account!!

Horrible card -- they are the only blemish ever on my credit rating. I bought one of their $5 charity coupons with the card and then bought my merchandise with another card, so I forgot about it for 30 days, and they reported it and refused to change it. Horrible horrible customer service. Stay away.

Despicable practice of charging interest after you pay the outstanding balance in full! I paid on line the entire balance on my Macy's account but for some reasons they decided 30 days later to charge a couple of dollars for interest! On zero balance? Because I get and pay my statements on-line only (to save a tree) I wasn't paying attention to my e-mails from Macy's because they send you at least one a day(and I knew I paid)!!! This way after 30 days they charged me the fee for "being past due" paying the 2 dollars and also reported me to the credit reporting agencies for 30 days late payment! Even after I called customer service and they offered that to remove the late fee and to get the 2 dollars payment only. As a result my score credit dropped unfairly about 40 points. I had other store cards and paid balances in full but I was never charged interest after. I wish we could sue them because I believe this is a common practice Macy's to sneak their hands in your pocket when you are not paying attention. Again, I think Macy's has a despicable policy when it comes to paying balances in full.

Spent 1/2 hour on phone with 1st representative who could not find me on the computer even though I read the account number, name, and SSN. Would not listen to what I said and out right refused to put me in contact with a supervisor. Strange experience.
Second contact couldn't answer what exactly I had bought even though I was trying to confirm this. Gave me the hard sell to pay my bill on the phone and when I wouldn't was extremely rude. Decided on the spot to cancel the card for which I am extremely happy.

So I happen to purchase something from macy`s today and my macy`s credit card got decline and was wondering why?I always pay my bills ahead of time and enrolled in automatic payment so I do not have to worry forgetting paying it on time and get charge for late fees but anyways. I paid off my last balance since June,so I do not have any balance at all since July (also I`m enrolled in automatic payment so if they were saying I still have balance that could be paid off since its enrolled in automatic payment, Imagine its been 3months I thought I`m paid off but claiming from them I`m not because of the interest) So the teller called macys credit card to figure out why my card is not working so we were on the phone for 30 minutes and the line is getting longer since the teller have to call the credit card in short its embarrasing so we finally got a hold from the credit card and guess what I found out I owed $4.00 why??? never got a statement balance since July that I have $2.00 balance, never got a call a courtesy call from the macy credit card that I still owe $2.00 and if I will not pay it i wont be able to use my card and that I will be charge for interest fee, never got an email. Why waited for the costumer to purchase something and the card gets decline and find out we owe something its just not right! and FYI now that $2.00 interest balance they were saying just became $4.00 for another interest ridiculous!!! (Hopefully costumers will get a courtesy call to let us know if we still got any balance after so many months that if we do not pay it we will be charge for interest and we will not be able to use the card so we wont have to look stupid and embarrasing in the mall trying to purchase something and card gets decline)

I have an excellent credit score and while I was away on vacation I just missed one payment of less than 20 dollars on a balance of 180. And I have always paid it in full prior to that. And they reported me to credit bureau affecting my score! Never will use it again. Macy's have enough sales without a credit card nonesence. They can shove it ....

Macy's credit card is run by some business that is trying it's hardest to drive Macy's out of business. As much as I love many of their products, their credit card is a notch below PAY-DAY loans. When I was in Europe for weeks, they called my home harassing my husband five times a day. He kept asking please tell me what he owes, but they would not. We could have paid the $50 bucks quickly. He asked them NOT to call as I was in Europe for two weeks. No they kept calling. I spent about an hour calling them from Europe, I paid them and told them to cancel my card. Then the charged me more interest, after they said I paid in full. A few weeks ago, I was in San Francisco, and a nice young man said I could get the card back and pay with my debit card, and get the discounts. OK, I said, then I would not have to deal with their calls.. I should have said no. So they turned down my reinstatement, saying I had too high of card balances. Excuse me, I travel A LOT internationally for my business using my AMEX Platinum card, which requires you pay in a month in full. I do that. And I have a very high FICO score. These people are going to kill Macy's; their credit card system is a company cancer, and I can see I am not alone in this. Oh, BTW, I have a Nieman's and Nordstrom's credit cards, and they never do this. Those stores fall over themselves.

My payment was due Aug 6th and on a Sunday morning Aug 9th, I received 3 phone calls!!! The rep said if I did not make a payment with her the calls would continue. My baby was crying in the background and I said I would go online and make the payment right away. She continued to harass me and threaten collections and more phone calls!!! I am furious and will be paying off this account and closing it ASAP!! I should have received a courtesy call or email to tell me I missed my payment not a harassing phone call from a rude representative on a Sunday morning!!!!

I would give a 1/4 star if possible. This has nothing to do with their merchandise more so than their credit department. Always had used a 3rd party paying site (mycheckfree.com) and apparently without my knowledge automatically stopped several vendor's paper statements from being sent and only email notification on amounts due. Would NEVER opt for this, for too many emails with spam and etc. just never would receive a statement in a timely fashion, thus caused a late. Macys notified me, I paid in full, in fact $253 over, for a return was not credited. But ended up with a 30 day, but they had my $253 for (3) months before refunding and they will NOT retract, after challenging over and over the fact have been a customer for over 22 years! and NEVER once paid late. Does not matter to them. Well good, I hope that my patronage of over 22 years and a decent amount spent each year matters not too! ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CLOSED!! AND stay out of politics Morons at Macys!

Worst credit card ever without a doubt. Had two fraudulent transactions. Closed the account, got a new one and guess what had two more fraudulent transactions on the brand new card and I havent even used it once. Is someone at Macy's sharing my data? They do not make it easy to report the fraudulent transactions either and are pretty slow responding to your complains. They haven't done anything in response to my first report and I keep getting phone calls regarding the late fees. When I call them the person on the phone says they will take care of it. But why do I get calls about the late fees then? Totally messed up system. It is highly frustrating having to spend hours on this in your busy life.
