I love Open Sky. They were my first card when I needed to repair my credit a few years back. I made a $200 deposit and charged my Netflix account every month then paid in full. It reported as a regular credit card. I just closed my account and customer service was very friendly. I will be getting my deposit back within 30 days as I now have high limit cards through several major banks.
Open Sky served its purpose well for me and I am very grateful.… read more

My bank sends payments by mail. Anytime the payment arrives close to due date, they claim it arrived a week too late and slam me with a fee. Can't do anything about it, although my bank assures me it was sent on time, it was deducted on the expected arrival date, other bill payments made it when they were supposed to... OpenSky claims payment late, late fee applied, interest applied - on an account paid
in full. I've used the card once or twice last year, and the fees they've charged me exceed the purchase amounts by far. Ridiculous. Customer service is absolutely useless, they won't listen, just keep reading your account statement like you haven't seen it yourself and repeating a rehearsed spiel. It's extortion. I'm closing the card, don't care what it does to my credit.… read more

I'm a fan of open sky they have done me right since the start. I tried to get a loan in 2016 and found mr score was a 401. So I applied for this card and paid faithfully on it and I bought a new house in Sept of 18. It helped me go from a 401 to a 675 in 21 mo. I've never had the problems with customer service I hear about.

Love OpenSky! Went from a 500 credit score to a 715 score in less than a year. Didn't think that was possible, but here I am jet-lagged from being back from our one-week vacation in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lol.

Payment processing is honestly horrible. I've had them issue payment reversals twice. Twice may not seem significant, however, it is because they report to the credit bureaus monthly. Yes, the money has been available. It seems as if they reverse the payments to charge you. I literally just finished talking to customer service with a couple thousand in my account trying to find out how my payment wasn't accepted. My credit limit is $200 on
the card. If your credit needs help, don't let Opensky hurt you. It's trash. This is a sincere and honest review.… read more

so far, I’m loving this card! I opened it because, I had NO credit history. It’s been almost 5 months, and I have not had any problems with this card. Transactions are quickly processed, and payments are quickly processed. My credit score is doing well. I’ve never missed a payment. I always pay in full. I always only use 9% of my card each month to increase my credit score.

I was very skeptical going with Opensky after reading a lot of unpleasant reviews, but i decided to give them a chance. I got approved and sent my deposit via wire transfer through my bank. They received my deposit the very next day. I received an email that my new credit card was on the way and I got it in the mail about 3/4 days later. I’ve been a cardholder since September 2018. The
only thing I don’t like is when you make a payment your credit isn’t available for 5 days. Other than that so far so good!… read more

Not the best card, but it gets the job done. My credit was a 485 in April 2018. I used opensky to help build my credit. I paid my balances in full for 2 months and my score shot up 80 pts! I qualified for better, unsecured, cards and my credit score is increasing month over month. I will potentially close this account when my score gets to 699 and I get my deposit back.

My payment due date on this card is the 10th of each month. I made a payment on July 25th. I waited and waited and the due date was approaching and the payment wasn’t yet applied to my account. Finally on the 10th of August my payment was applied right on time. Then I waited for my available credit to be updated. It took literally 3 weeks for this whole process between processing the payment
and updating my available credit! By August 20th around there, my available credit was updated. I really want to cancel this card. I never seen a credit card company take this long to process a payment and update your account. Literally almost a month! It’s ridiculous! I would have kept this card if it wasn’t for the delay payment processing they have going on. Overall it would’ve been a great card aside from this.… read more

Depending on when you make your payment you could wait for up to 8 days to have available credit. They take 5 business days to process payments over $50. So if you’re depending on the funds to process like any other card I would look else where.

Dont believe the idiots writing bad reviews for Opensky!!! I am a born complainer and i hate pretty much everything, but one thing i love is my Opensky card. I only paid $200 to have it opened. At first i was skeptical that it would help my credit but thought for $200 it was worth the risk. I chose Opensky over thr other cheap secured cards because it had the best terms and conditions, and
no crazy stuff like the other companies. I got it and started using the card once a month, the tip is to NEVER charge more than $35 to the card or your credit rating will go down a pretty significant number. I made that mistake when i first got it and racked up nearly $100 on it and my score went down 52 points. I paid that off quickly after i saw my score dropped and for the past 4 months ive kept it at no higher than $35, and paid the minimum $25 every month. They offer an automatic payment option which will take the money out of your bank account on the due date which is great for people like me that is very forgetful. Over a total of 5 months, my credit score has gone from 514 to 652. This card is the best option you can go with if you want to rebuild ur credit, if youre thinking about it dont hesitate go to their site and get one right now!!!… read more

Worst customer service EVER!!!! How can you not see what a previous agent told a customer when I quote,” you say all calls are monitored and recorded”. Spoke to a manager yesterday August 7 about not getting the card and she assured me she could order a new one and have it sent via
FrdEx in 2 business days(Thursday) and told me to call back the next day(Wednesday) for the tracking number. Upon calling I was told it would take a day to close the account and would not get the card until Friday and to call back tomorrow for the tracking number. These are Professional Thieves. This is the worst credit card company ever, if there was a zero that would be my rating for them. They'll make sure they steal from you in one way or the other.
If not false charges, its interest fee or late payment fee even if you're not late or some mailing statement fee. Just to make sure they get some money from you. If you see them--- One word---RUN !!!

Horrible experience with this company! Terrible customer service! Huge waste of time...so frustrated! They wouldn't process my payment and wouldn't give an explanation as to why, there was more than enough money in the bank and my bank said they "pinged" (whatever that means) them for the charge and it was approved yet they didn't take the money. then when I called the customer service line they wanted me to mail...yeah MAIL them a check

This thing and this company that issues it is pure trash. Sure you get an instant boost to your credit score. Then you use the thing.
They are so slow at processing payments that my magic boost in credit score was eradicated by a very quick report that I was over limit ( due to the very slow payment process and a $3 paper fee). I have consistently paid to keep the balance as close
to zero as possible, but it takes 5 full business days for them to do anything.
Customer service is atrocious. I regret opening this thing. Do yourself a favor and take the higher interest rate option with the legitimate banks Capital One or Chase. These people that run Open Sky are terrible in every way imaginable.
Oh and since they are so slow to process payments to make absolutely sure you have a balance they will only take four payments during a 30 day period. Who issues credit secured or not and doesn\'t want repayment?
This thing is not worth the time or effort.… read more

Update: My card came on 6/5 and I set up my bank account for the payment draft. I paid the $35 fee in full and I saw a disclaimer that said that payments could take up to seven business days to post. I’ll be paying my Netflix account each month with this card and will pay the card balance in full each month. I haven’t had an occassion to contact customer service yet so I
can’t comment on that but my credit score did go up 15 points on Transunion and 14 points on Equifax. I need to check my Experian score to see if has benefited from being approved for this card. So far, so good! ??????
I just applied for this card about an hour ago. The application process was seamless and about 15 minutes after I applied, I received two confirmation emails letting me know that the card would be delieved in 7 to 10 days and that my $300 deposit has been drafted from my bank account. I saw that they had a $35 annual fee up front and saw the interest rate was 18.99% (and I think that I saw a 3% cash advance fee or something to that effect). I read through all of the terms and conditions and didn\'t see any hidden fees or the like. My plan is to set up my Netflix and Hulu payment to come out of this card for the next 8 to 12 months and once my credit score improves (currently 562 Transunion, 594 Equifax, and 594 Experian) I will consider applying for an unsecured card with Discover or some other company. The only real negative that I see with this card is that it takes up to 14 days for payments to post so I will make sure that I am very strategic regarding when my payments are drafted from my bank account in relation to when Hulu and Netflix takes their fees. Overall, I\'m not expecting more than this card to help me repair / build my credit. Use it responsibly folks and it ought to do what you need it to do.… read more… read more

The WORST! First, HOOORRIBLE “Customer Service.” I’ve had to call 4 different times in the last nine months about mysterious, INCORRECT, charges (that they added on my card again) and every single time, I was astounded by the absolutely horrible customer service. I know I might come across as rude right now with some of my all caps, but I am extremely kind and pleasant when treated nicely. Unauthorized hidden fees disguised as foreign things,
or cash advances you’ve never taken. I’ve had to decline paper statement THREE times now because they keep adding it back on (and its ridiculously high charge), and then even when they’re completely in the wrong, they refused to take it off and since we’re at their mercy, there’s not a damn thing we can do.… read more

I have read some of the success stories and they are great. Mine is similar. A five year road that has not been pretty. Opensky has been a tool/solution to get to the 700 club (fico). Very efficient and I will continue to use them even after full repair because they have been with me the whole way. The new website is much more efficient. For those nay sayers. Step back and maybe examine with
enlightenment. Top Tier cards still have their issues too. Pay your bills and be frugal and the process will slowly be true to you. As with all good things, it is what you put in to the process.… read more

This is a decent card to get if you have bad credit. I have been using it to raise my credit score. I do wish it was more like my Discover It secure card. There is no annual fee and after eight or nine months of proving that you are responsible, you can graduate to unsecured card and they will give you your deposit back.

What can I say about this card.....Well for starters, In late 2016 I decided to get my S together financially. Had collections, went south on a car in 2013, had a student loan in delinquency. I never even had a real credit card before. It was all student loans and a bad car loan I should have never signed that completely screwed me up. I was having trouble with my life in general and was
trying to ignore my financial problems. I decided to right the ship, buckle down and really take credit/my financial life seriously. I had a 404 credit score when I got the Open Sky card, this was my only option because at a 404.....you have no options. I got a $400 Deposit and was paying it off in full every month, after 6 months of on-time, full payments, they upped my limit to $500 and my credit score was already up 75-100 points. Within the next 6 months, I was up in the mid 550's, again with my on-time in full payments, Got my student loan back on track and was able to qualify for a Discover Secured Card and a Capital One Secured Card. I was trying to increase my credit limits and keep my utilization low, As recommended. Well it's February of 2018 and my credit score just passed the 620 mark. I am getting there and it takes time. Still a long way to go but without OpenSky I don't know what the heck I'd be doing, it helped get my foot in the door back on the road to financial responsibility and is getting my credit to somewhere near a normal score. Don't believe these bad rumors. Never had an issue with payments, customer service was spot on, and they will take a chance on people who really, really need the help. The Bank backing this card is based out of Rockville, Md. outside of DC just FYI. Pay on time, keep your utilization low and remember this is a process THAT TAKES TIME. My credit profile is almost at a point of respectability and I can only thank OpenSky for that. It showed me it's possible. Thank you for helping me.… read more

In January of 2017, I was wanting to purchase a new home but my highest credit score was barely touching 630 while another score was below 600. I had a lot of other issues with my credit report that needed to be cleaned up. I wanted to apply for a credit card, and Wells Fargo and others provided a secured card, but they ding your credit report and that would have thrown me out of
being accepted in the first round for financing a home. Usually a mortgage lender will look at your credit before you put a deposit down on building or buying a newly constructed home to see if there is potential for the actual approval for when the home is built and it is near time to move in and almost time for the closing. I decided on OpenSky because they didn't ding my credit score when I put a deposit down. Once I opened up the credit card account, my score increased to 640 with the next score around 630 and the lowest 601. Now, I was in the game but I still had a lot of work to do for the next few months. Having this card helped me with increase my score and was one of the top reasons why I was able to move into my newly constructed home July of 2017! I now use the card for my monthly expenses, such as gas and food so I don't ding my checking account for each and every transaction and it helps me to stay on budget and focused on my finances.
This is one of those cards you will want to keep, even when you get through your financial struggles.
The only negative, is that when I pay my credit card bill, sometimes it takes 1-1/2 weeks for the payment to post properly. I wanted to rent a car for an emergency trip from Texas to Ohio and wasn't able to because the payment hadn't posted yet, even though it had been more than one week since I submitted payment which also brings up another point, in order to make payments timely, one should pay two weeks ahead of time, even if it is the minimum and then follow up with a bigger payment if you need to. I do wish they would make posting payments more timelier for consumers. After all, they do have our deposit on account. Please OpenSky, do something about posting our payments more timely and providing us with the credit.… read more

Start to Finish...(excuse the grammar, just get the point)...i applied for the card in November around the 24th, used the card immediately. Being new to the CC world I was waiting for a billing statement or something to tell me when my bill was due, never received one. So, on Dec 24th my utilization was high nearly all the credit available, but my payment was in good standing, didnt understand how that worked but ok,
im thinking next cycle I will be more alert about paying and check the website instead of waiting for a notification. Second billing cycle I did receive a notification several weeks in advance (i set it up that way).
The reason i set it up so early is because of reviews stating it takes long for payment to post etc etc, so i paid my bill probably 3 weeks in advance (something like that), i made two payments one on a Friday the next on the following Monday. 1st payment took about 7-8 days to post and the other smaller amount took a little less time to post, but my available credit did not go up until apx 3 days before the closing of my bill (bill closes on the 20th MINE DOES).
I paid it down to about 6-9% purposely to carry a balance for utilization purposes (my preference, instead of paying it to 0 balance). As of today with CK my scores have not changed, I emailed them as to why... Wallet Hud went up 100 points from 481 to 581 TR which 481 is my current CK TR score to date, not what I started with. My TR FICO is 560 (REAL credit score). I applied with a score of TR 510 (dropped 29 points after applying) & EQ 529 (502 dropped 27 after applying) and those are Credit Karmas scoring NOT FICO scores. Not sure what my FICO scores were before as I just started watching those due to finding out lenders etc look at FICO scores not places like Credit Karmas scores.
Overall im please with the card...let me rewind only FICO (REAL SCORE) I was watching was EX not sure if it dropped from applying/that first month but this billing cycle it went up 30 points from 546 to 576 (once again thats Experian FICO score), I went ahead and updated my Experian report to get all my FICO scores and my TR is 560 as I state above vs Wallet Hub TR 581 which was the same 481 as Credit Karmas 481 but CK has not updated the report as of yet.
Only reason I watch CK scores is really for offers but I noticed even though you get the offer through them they (the other CC company's pull from FICO TR &EX) Open Sky did not request my credit report, but I have applied to Capitol One Platinum & diamond Citi both approved but still being processed. I think the card is a great help to build your credit score while you work on paying off other debt/accounts on your credit. I tried to be thourogh as possible but my first post was deleted and I forgot how I worded it for viewers accuracy. I know when I look at reviews I like to see numbers and a good reading broken down ! Hope this helps others to go ahead and try Open Sky, any questions just ask I will answer if I can.… read more

I have a 580 Fico score, with a great job. I lost my job two years ago, and could not make my payments on my credit card from another bank. I thought, now that I have a great job for the last year and a half, a $200 secure card, would be perfect for me with no credit check! Well, they took my security deposit within seconds of entering my checking account number. Two day
later, they send me a email, your application has been denied, you will be refunded your security deposit. Nine days later, still no refund! I called, and they say don’t worry, you will get a refund! I will be filing a dispute with my bank to get my funds back! My suggestiion to everyone out there that is contemplating doing a secure card, to go to your own bank, and speak to the customer service there.
