I have had this card for one year and it has been my main card for most things. I regularly spend 1K-2K a month using this card. Recently, Synchrony bank started to decline my transactions. I contacted them by using a number listed on PayPal, and the customer service said my card was flagged for potential fraud. I told them there was no fraud; it was me trying to use it. They asked me to record a video of myself and take a picture of my ID. I actually thought they were scammers so I refused. Later, I called the number on the back of my card and they said it was actually not a scam. They did want a video of myself and my ID. The customer service was very rude and I felt very uncomfortable because they did not believe I was actually the cardholder and they would not explain why my card was flagged. After I complained about privacy intrusion, they offered another option to mail a passcode to my physical home address. I took that option. A week later, I got the mail with my passcode and I called them again. They did not want my passcode anymore. They only started asking me if a particular transaction was mine or not; something like $1.65 here and there. I told them I could not remember everything I bought two or three weeks ago. They insisted on questioning me so I told them as far as I was concerned, I did not have any dispute and I would pay everything on my balance. Could they just leave me alone and replace my card? The guy finally seemed relieved that I said I would pay for everything on my balance. I did not understand why they were treating customers like criminals. I never once disputed anything on this particular card and I clearly told them it was all me. I do not know if they will send me a new card or not but I will not be using this card again and I will avoid using Synchrony bank in the future given that they treat their customers like criminals. Amex has only 1% cash back but they treat me with respect. It is not worth saving $10-$20 a month to be treated like a criminal when I'm a customer.

Paypal won't allow me to change my payment due date! It's such a simple request. This is ridiculous. Be careful of the interest rate as well. Good luck.

Synchronicity Bank are setting people up for complete failure as the due date on this CC is the 2nd of each month! WHAT?! I spent 15 minutes on the phone to get the late fee of $30 waived, as I didn't mail out their check until Jan 3, 2023. They would NOT extend my due date out as I explained to them that I'm a Disabled Veteran and the VA doesn't pay me until the 1st, and that's the day I pay ALL of my bills bc of severe memory problems I have. Now I'm going to have to just pay it off next month in full (no interest $ for them!) and then cancel after that. Who the h3ll has a due date on the 2nd except a greedy bank that is obviously trying to rack up late fees on purpose. BTW, Chase bank's VP has a yacht called the OVERDRAFT. Pretty obvious!

Absolutely terrible. I do have several credit cards experience and so far this has been the worst. Their call center is embarassing as their service. Don't invest your time and money in this card.

Don’t waste your time with Synchrony - my experience was a joke from start to finish. I noticed a few small charges I hadn’t made on my credit card, so they deactivated it and sent me a new one. Except, they don’t send it first class with a tracking number like every other reputable credit card company, they send it regular mail. Hence, a week later, someone else has gotten ahold of and activated my brand new card without it ever having been delivered to my house. Where is it? Nobody knows because there’s no tracking number. It could still be in the mail, in which case the data leak would have to be in PayPal’s system as they would be the only ones with record of the newest card number. I could forgive the $10 Venmo fee, but this complete lack of competent security is ridiculous.

Avoid PayPal Cashback Mastercard. They stole my $2800 payment. Got the card, charged $4100. Sent two payments, one for $2800 the other for $1300 to avoid interest. They cashed my $2800 check but didn’t credit me. The $1300 wasn’t cashed so I had to stop payment on that. PayPal MC asked me to prove to them that they cashed my $2800. I sent front and back photos of the canceled check proving that Synchrony Bank took my money and they responded telling me there’s no proof they took my money. It’s been over 8 weeks, and they’re saying I owe $2800 plus interest. Now I need to spend more time fighting by filling a complaint with the BBB and I suppose the FTC. Avoid this scam company PayPal Cashback Mastercard hosted by Synchrony Bank.

Similar experience. Paid $1300 balance in full via bank on Jan 24 for Feb 3 (due date Feb 12). Bank mailed check Jan 30. As of Feb 10, payment not posted, and received 'reminder' emails. Feb 10, spend an hour on phone with both Paypal and Synchrony to solve. No luck. Paid second time through their website (which I hate doing). Posted. Great. Fast forward to Feb 14--get an email stating the ORIGINAL payment had posted on Feb 7!!! Have a credit on account now, but the 'Dispute Department' pled Synchrony is a big company with millions of accounts, sometimes they miss a payment. Really? This Is What They Do!!! Good news is, had I not made the second payment in time, any late charge would have been waived--if I had called to complain. Also, I was offered a $200 sign up bonus in September, to be paid within 60 days of activation and minimum usage. Both criterion were met, but no $200. Synchrony's answer: 'Will show as credit within next two billing cycles" This is February, we're talking April--6 months, not 2 as promised. AVOID Paypal Mastercard as long as Synchrony is the servicer.

Initially lost my first card in the mail, had to beg to get a replacement card sent expedited. After using up my limit and immediately paying off the balance, they still take 3 weeks to refresh the limit and payments take 3 days to post. After using for 2 months they suddenly cancelled my card and deactivated the acccount. They also stole all the cashback I had accumulated (over $1400 cash back) claiming I was a risk for non payment despite overpaying on several occasions. Currently the account owes me money that I over payed for. Customer service is mediocre. I'd rather use a 2% citi cashback card rather than go through the hassle of 3% cashback on paypal purchases. Worst credit card i've ever used, synchrony bank needs to re-evaluate their how they are treating customers with this card.

This is the worst credit card ever. I have had nothing but trouble. They never sent me my first card. Called them after three weeks and they couldn’t tell me where my first card went so they closed it and sent me another one. Received second one and now I can’t check out with the card even though it appears on the app. Tried adding the card manually when checking out and it says the card is invalid. Seriously?!?!? Balance doesn’t go back to zero when I pay it off. It’ll take money out of my bank but still show a balance on my card. I can’t even see my due date on the app…. Wth PayPal. Do better. I’d rather get my lousy 1.25 points with my capital one venture then to deal with dumb stuff like this. Here I go again having to call you guys to fix stuff that shouldn’t have to be a problem to begin with. Oh and since my first card had to get canceled because you guys never sent it…… now all my purchase history is gone?!?! Nothing should be gone if I have the same account…. Regardless of whether or not it’s a different card number. This is extremely dumb.

Started off my favorite card but their customer service started going down & I have tried to up my line of credit for over a year now & still haven't been able too. It is what it is I have other cards with much more that I can use. I paid them off & don't plan on using them again.

Initially, I was thrilled with my PayPal Cash Back credit card. I had some big medical expenses and getting 2% back on all of them was enormously helpful. I have used the card for local and online purchases without any problems and have redeemed rewards easily. The problems I have had with the PayPal MasterCard have all occurred when I was traveling. I have been double charged on a flight to San Francisco that showed up on my statement as two flights to Seattle. I have been charged for Uber trips in Chicago that showed up as Uber trips in California. Most recently, a charge for an Uber trip on a day that I was at home appeared on my Synchrony bank statement with no corresponding charge appearing on my Uber activity record. How could that be? The agent I spoke with tried to convince me that someone used my card and I am being issued a new card. However, that doesn't explain why that trip doesn't appear on my Uber activity record. So... with all the problems that I have had, why did I give this card three stars? I think that if you use it for ordinary, everyday purchases and recurring online orders, you don't run into trouble, and the 2% cash back is a good deal. Just don't use it for travel or you will regret it.
