Great credit card for everyday charges. No annual fee plus I get a 2% cash back on all purchases. The app is really user friendly.

Great Cash reward card. No Fee if you have specific accounts with PFCU. You can't beat 5% back on gas either.

I have been using the Penfed Points as well as the Penfed Cash cards a while now and I think that this is a winning combo! I get really nice rebates on both, but the two cards are not exactly the same and so I use them in combination to max the value of the rebates I get from each. Of course Cash is King in this world, so I use the Cash card for the car, that yields me 5% in cash in rebates. As far as the Points card goes, I use that mainly for grocery stores since it is the only card I found that consistently offers a significant rebate for buying grocery items (3%). The Points card however is not a very good deal for anything else. You can redeem your points for gift cards (at face value with no discounts) so I feel that if I really wanted one of those, I would simply go buy a gift card (probably at a grocery store) and get something of a rebate for that purchase!

I’ve had the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Platinum Cash Rewards Credit Card for a few years now. Might I add that Penfed is a great institution. I also refinanced a car loan with them with a very low rate. The rewards for the card used to be better but with recent changes there still is one great benefit. That benefit is the 5% off gas. No matter what station you go to as long as you pay at the pump you will receive 5% off of your transaction. Each billing period the 5% is taken off of your billing statement as a credit. This card definitely helps with the gas price hikes.

I've been using the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Platinum Cash Rewards Visa for years, and have been extremely satisfied with it. The cash back is not as good as it used to be, currently offering 5% cash back for pay at the pump gas purchases, and 0.25% for everything else. While the "everything else" category isn't as good as other cards, the 5% cash back for gas is what keeps me using the card. On top of that, there are no hoops to jump through for redemption, as your cash back is automatically added as a statement credit to your balance every month. In order to get this card, you have to join Penfed. If you don't qualify through government or military service, you can make a $10 donation to charity to become eligible.

PFCU turned their cash back card into a gas cash back credit card. Bad choice! I still use it to buy gas - until I find another one, but for other purchase I use USAA cash back card because I get 1.25% back every month, just like PFCU used to do. Really bad choice PFCU!

The Pentagon Federal Credit Union Platinum Cash Back Rewards Credit Cards is just one of their offers that gives you 5% on gas no matter where you get it, just as long as you pay at the pump. That’s a pretty sweet deal for anyone who can’t just go to a single gas station every time they need to fill up their tank. That’s of course not all the Pen Fed Platinum Cash Rewards Card offers though. It also gives you 1% cash back on everything else and a 1.99% introductoru balance transfer APR for 24 months. Neither of those last two things is all that great but they are merely supporting actors to the 5% cash back gas rate. You can get comparable rates on other cards, but most are affiliated with specific stations which means you have to get gas there to save and the others offer higher rates for only the first couple months or so. In general, the highest regular cash back rate you’ll get on gas purchases on a non-station affilated card is 3%. That makes the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Cash Back Card unique and extremely beneficial. It is important to note though that to get the PFCU Platinum Cash Back Credit Card you’ll have to join PenFed, which will run you $15.

Now, as I mentioned the Platinum Cash Back Rewards Card is not the only rewarding gas credit card Pentagon Federal Credit Union has got. A number of other cards (like the Coast Guard Auxiliary Credit Card) that are branded with the names of military organizations or associations also offer 5% cash back at any gas station as well as 1% on all other purchases and they donate 0.25% of all your purchases to the organization your card is affiliated with. Don’t worry, that dough is coming out of PenFed’s pocket, not yours!
