The worst prepaid card ever! I got this card from my sister for my son's birthday, she told me she thought it is a gift card. When I start using it I realized that it is not a gift card and I need to create an online account with them to use the card which I don't mind to do it but the nightmare started once you have activated it. First, they charge you $7.95
every month if don't read $1000 and they charge $4.95 every time you are loading the card. I put it away once it's balanced $0.00 and after some time when I checked it I found that a negative balance of $7.95 I'm so angry and wanted to close the card right away and called customer service and he told that I have a negative balance in my account to get the balance $0 I have to reload that amount, i went the CVS and the guy told me have reloaded a minimum of $20.00 and it should be cash. I have to go back to my bank to get cash and return to the store and a lady told there is a fee of $4.95 to reload... once I have used the amount left the card has left $0.38 I called the customer service again (which by the way the worst customer service) after the lady asked me all the questions to verified my account she told that she can't close the account because I have a 40.38 left in my account I was so angry and told to talk to her supervisor and she put on hold for a long time and she told my account is closed and she rushing to hung up on me I stopped her and asked her to gave a confirmation # she a random number and when asked her to get an e-mail confirmation she said they do not have that and she hung up.

I am very disappointed in this Card. I got 2 of them at Christmas from my parents. Each with a $60 limit. The first one was registered, reluctantly, online. I used it the day after registering in the amount of $38.75. I tried using it the same day at an ATM for $20. The transaction was rejected. I figured that was due to the $3+ for using the ATM. aside. I registered the 2nd card yesterday, again having to supply a Social Security #. Today my purchase was $55.42. The card only approved for $52.05. I thought that was a bit odd. I came home and decided to research GreenDot a bit. Upon reading the very, very, very fine print it all became clear. Immediately upon registration I was charged $7.95. A monthly fee. Hence, the $52.05 limit. Apparently I let the first card on my desk too long and now have a balance of $5.35. Out of an expected $21.25. I would not recommend this card to anyone. i received this card for xmas..couldnt use it till i gave 3/4 of personal info ..than go to use it declines card ..try again declines card ..not only due they charged $2 to purchase card 5 more to put $ on card ..so i activate ..the same day they took $8 for service charges..same day as activation..call customer service they dont speak english ..they want u to repeat 5 times my info plus card #

Now we are all stuck with a $5 fee just to use it, and they are very difficult to use if you want to split a payment between the remaining balance of the card and some other form of payment. I bought this card over a week ago so I can have direct deposit from my employer. My car has been locked for 10 days. They have almost $2,000 of my money after having multiple conversations with their representatives in the Philippines I was asked to submit a pay stub I repeatedly Express to them there is no such thing everything was filed electronically through QuickBooks there is no paper pay stub to be submitted.
After sending them the bank statements from my employer verifying the direct deposit they insist that they need a paper pay stub in order to review the account. The representative told me that I have to do whatever I need to do in order to get a paper pay stub. Basically what she just asked me to do was to commit fraud and falsify documents on which I have no intentions on doing. I have no money to feed my family or to put fuel in my vehicle. I am filing a complaint with the office of the Comptroller of currency I'm also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office along with the Federal Reserve on the grounds of unfair practices under the federal Consumer Protection Law. I will also be contacting an attorney to file law suit against this company on the grounds of the above-mentioned.. After reading hundreds of complaints and I'm sure there are tens of thousands I believe there are grounds enough to file a class action lawsuit against this company and put them out of business for good.… read more

My card was locked after having my husbands check deposited and they say it will take 5 business days to review the account after sending in the required information. All the money I have is on that card and it's now been 5 days (including the weekend and I have no money and still haven't heard anything. I have bills and kids and things to pay for. This is the WORST card EVER. There's a minimum of $20 to put money on the card AND it charges you $3 EACH time you load it. This service sucks!!! I was supposed to receive a permanent card in the mail and never got one. I've had direct deposit set up and consistently used the temporary card for everything like a regular check card. My address never got verified bc you need the permanent card to do so so I couldn't use my card at places that required a zip code for purchase such as gas pumps. So I requested a new
card be sent and without notice they shut off my temporary card and told me to wait for the new card to be received in order to use the funds. Which could take 7 business days. Unbeknownst to me this too place the evening of my next direct deposit and I had absolutely no access to any of my money. The man from customer service assured me the day I will receive my card and to be patient and wait for it. I had to borrow money to make it through the next week and a half. He also said I would be receiving a call from his supervisor within the next three days. I never received a call. Yesterday was the last day I should have received the card and it still never showed. I called the post office to ensure a mistake wasn't made with my mail and it wasn't on their part. The new guy I called from customer service said the exact same thing. That he could send me another new card (making that the third card sent to me.) Or keep waiting. There was no other option. And my request to speak with a supervisor was again denied. TurboTax set me up to get my tax refund on a TurboTax Green Dot card. I received my card and tried to activate it. This is when the nightmare began. Worst company imaginable! I bought it to upload $ in order to pay my power bill over the phone. Prepaid gift card is VERY misleading. I cant access my money at all, cant pay my bill, cant get my money off the card. $1200 down the drain, and can't get a single person on the phone. I'm absolutely sick.

I was purchasing was 98.00 ... when I went home to activate my card it gave me troubles online so I called someone to help me out. Of course on the phone with me was a lady that barley knew English or how to properly pronounce words. So we had a lot of miscommunication and she ended up spelling me name wrong and putting in a lot of other false in information ended up putting me on hold and then a automatic voice message came on and basically told me the card is locked and since I couldn’t be identified the card isn’t temporary and it can’t make online orders , atm withdrawals or anything Other than in person purchases. (Now I can’t buy what I needed online .. I talked to a “supervisor “ that was very nonchalant and seem not to care about my experience said that there is nothing they can do so they don’t want to waist anymore of either of our time . Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worst ...... I woke up checked the balance on the card because I tried to order my items anyways. And I was checking if it went through ... It didn’t. The customer service rep was extremely rude, kept over talking me and assuming she knew what my question was going to be. She then closed the card and issued me a refund check when I never wanted to close it! She simply went on with her speel and hung up. Not to mention she hardly spoke English.

I mistakenly got this card as a gift card for someone (it was in section of store with gift cards) and when I realized you have to give all kinds of personal information in order to register it before using?! I then attempted to get a refund at phone # on receipt. What a fiasco, kept being transferred and then was on an automated loop on the phone...customer service was horrible. getting this card incorrectly as a gift card, but, it shouldn't be so hard to get a refund and you shouldn't have to give personal info (soc. sec. #, birthdate, etc) in order to get your refund. What I like about the Green Dot VIP Debit Card, is that you can get your Direct Deposit Five Days Earlier, what I don't like that they don't have on their App the feature of taking a photo of the front and back of your check and depositing it with Green Dot, so sad, so sad!

I had three cards fraudulently drained of funds. In spending weeks and hours of my time on the phone with them, they don't return phone calls, they have you send them documentation but then claim they never received anything, and in the end I'm out $500 they refuse to refund.

I have been using the green dot cash back rewards debit card for direct deposit from my employer for the last two months and it is a complete rip off. Even though I get a weekly direct deposit and maintain a decent amount on my card at all times I am still charged a monthly service fee of an alarming $9.95 and I get charged $2.50 for ATM withdrawals even when I use a Moneypass
atm, plus a terminal fee from the ATM itself. On average it costs me more than $5 just to make a withdrawal. Apparently because I have a cash back rewards card and not a standard greendot debit card I am not eligible to use Moneypass ATMs for free nor am I eligible for a waiver or discount of the monthly service fee. They do not make this clear when signing up on their website at all. The cash back rewards cap off at a $100 payback a year and is only payable after 12 months of continuous use and maintaining a positive balance on the card. Had I paid more attention to the small print when signing up I'd realize how screwed up this company is. I'd have to pay $120 in monthly service fees just to collect the $100 in cash back rewards I have earned. Even though I've already hit the $100 mark 2 months into using the card. Combine that with having to pay $2.50 to use any ATMs plus the terminal fees and having a $400 a day ATM limit it does not work out well for any consumer. It makes it expensive and inconvenient to access your money. Additionally, you cannot do any ACH bill payments using your routing and account number to pay bills. There are other competitors that not only issue checks but allow you to use your routing number and account number online to pay bills which is how I usually pay rent to avoid any fees from the leasing company I rent from. This card is a complete scam and money grab. I would encourage anybody to reconsider signing up for one of these cards as a primary direct deposit debit card. The singular and only good thing I can say in regards to greendot is that the customer service line is helpful in the sense that I did not have to wait long to speak with somebody BUT the customer service agents I've spoken with are completely scripted and not helpful. They could not assist me with switching to a standard greendot card that waives the monthly service fee and avoiding ATM fees by sending me a different type of card. In fact, you can't even switch to a different type of account once you've signed up with greendot. You have to go out and physically purchase a different temporary card entirely. The website does not have a terms and a simple fee chart once you log into your account and is very limited in what you can do and see on your account, and they do this purposely 100%. Greendot is not about helping out their customers and is not user friendly. Other competitors allow you to change services and account types without having to purchase a new card and creating a new account. I have found a much better prepaid debit card option and will be switching as soon as possible. I will encourage anyone who wants to get direct deposit onto a prepaid card to look anywhere else but Greendot and their subsidiaries. Make sure you do your research and read all the fine print and fees for each type of card a company offers before signing up for a card you feel will suit your needs best. Tried to deposit check, received emails saying they wouldn't take it. And tried to go cash it at Wal-Mart and it's saying already cashed. Green Dot of course can tell me nothing but they were the only ones with access to the check. Check balance it'd not there. Bs
Asked for a supervisor multiple times and never was put on the line with one.
