Scammed. Received an offer to have the annual fee waived for the club card. Thought that is what I signed up for on their website, but when the card arrived the materials did not reflect the waiver. I contacted Chase & they said the offer was not available on my card, even after I sent them a copy of the offer! Their customer service team is horrible. Must be all the former customer staff from the cable company.

Signed up to receive 50,000 bonus miles and after I meet the 3,000$ requirement I contacted them after my last billing cycle and was told that I don't have the offer what a scam. Also you only gain access to select United lounges not all.

The same thing happened to me! How is this even possible? They advertise for this sign up bonus but then claim I didn’t check the correct box to receive the promotion?

Signed up for the 50,000 bonus miles, and thought having club access, and free checked bags would be nice also. After meeting all required spend limits, was told the offer i signed up for did not include bonus miles. If you go to Chase or United websites, every offer includes bonus miles. In the United Club, the card is advertised everywhere with bonus miles, yet somehow I managed to not qualify.

I am a frequent United traveller and has been using this credit card for the last 8 years.I think its a best air travel reward card.It is very easy to accrue rewards on this card.
I get triple miles when I purchase tickets with this card on united flights. In addition to that I get double miles on gas, home groceries and dining purchases, and one mile per dollar if I use it at any stores including superstores like walmart , target etc.I also get 5,000 bonus miles each year on enrollment date anniversary. And there's no limit on how many miles you can earn.
Overall, I think this is a best choice I have made.

Margie is obviously not a frequent United traveler. The real benefit of this card is hidden in the club access and free checked bags. For a traveler with no elite status, 1st bag is $25, second is $35 each way. Even at Premier silver, 2nd bag is $35. Club access is $475 by itself, $450 if you are a silver Premier. Club access is not limited to United clubs- you get access to Star Alliance clubs as well- ie: US Airways, Lufthansa, etc.
As far as Southwest goes, I like my assigned seats and last time I checked, they do not have such a thing as a club lounge in their system.

Margie pointed out some excellent stuffs, especially the cost. But of course, I am here to present the other side to the story. As always, consider your situation whenever you apply for a credit card, and make a decision based on the situation that suites you best. (Also, Margie made some statements that weren't necessarily true, so I wanted to correct that).
So. Let's play the devil's advocate. When does this card makes sense to you?
If you are a frequent United Flyer, then this card might be a life saver. why?
Let's start with lounge access. Despite what Margie wrote down, suggesting that frequent flyer automatically gets lounge access, this isn't true with US legacy airlines for domestic travel. Yes, if you buy an expensive international ticket, then lounge is included, but for domestic ones, even if you fly "first class" u don't get lounge. You will have to buy lounge access( annual fee of $495), so if you fly domestic a lot on United, and u want the access to lounge service, this card can be great. What makes this card more beneficial is that Amex platinum no longer offers access to United/Continental Lounge via Priority Pass. So if you want a free access to United Lounge, this is the only way to get it.
- Furthermore, you can have one companion go in with you, so its like getting 2 people's worth the money.
Second: Close Fee Award Waiver. If you fly United a lot, you are most likely going to rack up some United Miles. You want to use them of course, but unless you book 3 weeks out, they will slap you with $75 charge. It would be great if we can plan out our trips in advance, but we can't time to time. This card waives it.
Third: Priority Boarding.
why is this important? Although Margie can't believe people woud want to board sooner, she can't be farther away from the truth (I know u don't fly much Margie, don't worry). With bag fees these days, people are trying to cram as much as they can on carry-ons. This means that it's really a hassle to find a spot to put your backpack or small carry-ones, if you board late. There just isn't enough space for everyone's. Those who board first, will have ample access to them, and this card gives that.
Fourth: Perks you don't think you need but are very useful because you have them.
- Hyatt Platinum gives you late check-out, free internet, and so forth. You will use it, and u will go wow! - Rental Car Top Tier: Again, little things makes big difference. - Primary Collision waiver for rental cars: If you are interested in renting a car oversea, this card can provide you free insurance (as long as u rent the car with this card).
So considering all these, is it worth $395? Make that choice yourself.
HOWEVER.... There is a way to reduce the cost of this card down to $195. If you use amex plat's $200 airline pay-back program, then this card only costs $195. Furthermore, there are codes floating around, that gives this card first yr free, so do consider that as well.

WOW! Did everyone catch this card’s annual fee? $395! What does it print money or something? Is it magic? There has to be something unique about the United MileagePlus Club Credit Card for Chase and United to feel it deserving of such a high price tag, so I made a little pro and con list to see if I could get to the bottom of things.
Pros - Initial bonus: Getting a $95 statement credit after your first purchase is nice; only $300 to go before we break even with the United MileagePlus Club Card! - Checked Bags: Getting to check your first and second bags for free is nice, but doesn’t Southwest already offer that standard? - Hotel Benefits: Getting complimentary room upgrades, free breakfast and stuff is awesome, but I’d love for Chase to be a bit more specific about exactly what you get.
Cons - Club Access: Club access is great, don’t get me wrong. My problem with it though is that if you travel frewuently enough to need it, you’ll probably get it for free anyway. Also I’ve seen a bunch of cards with reasonable annual fees offer it. - Priority Borading: I don’t see why people want to sit on a plane for longer. - Ongoing rewards: The United Plus Club Card gives you 1.5 miles across all purchases and 2 miles on United purchases, hardly deserving of a $400 annual fee.
It was going to take a lot for me to think the United MileagePLus Club Card’s annual fee was worth it, and the card’s terms really didn’t show me that much. I know I’m not going to get it as a result and don’t recommend you doing so either.
