I think they rat you out. Had the card for about five months with $300 secured limit. I was notified a former landlord has garnished the card for a judgement (I had honestly forgotten about the eviction entirely). I can only assume US Bank notified my former landlord that they had some of my money ripe for the taking. Otherwise it was a good card. My credit score only went down two points when they closed the account so I'm not sweating it too much.

It is so hard to graduate to unsecured! After 1 year with perfect payments I was denied with 650 credit! If you need secured please do Discover! They even offer rewards!

$5000 deposit. So my credit limit is $5000. I kind of dislike the $750 cash advance limit, but overall its helping build personal credit and soon will graduate into an unsecured card with the deposit being returned. So far. So good.

Horrible product, horrible customer service, horrible website and log in. Go somewhere else. They keep changing my address without my request and forwarding stuff to my ex husband whom it isn't even his card. Don't change my address unless I request it. Now I can't log in to my account because they have changed systems and its asking me to verify zip code....how am I supposed to friggin- do that when I don't know the address they have taken it upon themselves to forward my mail too. Been on hold 45mins, still no one has picked up. .infuriating!!!! Go elsewhere!!

The US Bank Secured Credit Card was definitely a big help at getting my credit back on track but no benefits of a increased limit or becoming unsecured.

It is a good card if you don’t have any outstanding judgements against you. They froze my account and took all my money for paying what I owed. Goodbye 700$ I had no notifications beforehand. That was messed up.

This card helped build credit for sure... covid times right now though and so they closed my account without notification. Every month I call them to see if they are going to return my money and they give me a new date to expect my check. But every time I call they still haven't sent it.
I can't recommend this card unless you are ok with a lot of waiting (75 days so far) and hold time/call transfers to ask for your money back.

Do NOT get this card. I had this card for 3 months with the maximum credit line and they closed it all because...
I paid the full balance with an out of state checking account.
They wanted me to submit my bank statement to prove I was the owner (which I did) and swore it was not closed, only blocked ( which is a lie because they reported it as "closed due to credit grantors request" to all 3 credit bureaus) I haven't had a transaction since July, yet they still have not returned my $5,000 security deposit! This card is more trouble than its worth. If you want to build credit with a secured card, you're better off with Discover It Secured Card or Navy Federal Credit Union's secured credit card.
Sincerely, Still waiting for my ?

This is a horrible card. When I want to close the account after paying full due amount they told me it will take up to 60 days to get your money back. US Bank is running a scam where they hold customers money for that long period even though they pay off full due amount. I would avoid this card at all cost. Also to close your account you have to write a letter or fax and there is no way you can close it by phone or via e-mail or by accessing your account online.

I like the car because it help me build credit and they gave me a card we're not too many other companies would. however I did end up getting approved for a Capital One Secured card. And a discover secured card. Without asking or requesting a unsecured card or credit increase Capital One increase my credit from $300 to $600 just for being a good customer with good payment history although I did not receive my security deposit back yet I am happy for the credit increase that was shocking for a secured card I didn't know they did that. I have not reached my 12 months with them yet but I will see what happens when that time comes. With my Discover card I just reach my 8 month I received a congratulations letter and a week later I receive my security deposit back. I officially now have an unsecured card with discover too happy now in 2 weeks I will have been with US Bank for one year and when contacting US Bank to ask about the unsecured card i was told I would have to apply for a new card in order to receive a unsecured card and see if I qualify and they do a hard pull so I think this is one downfall for this card. the mere fact that i have to reapply and pull my credit instead of simply returning my security deposit after 12 consecutive months excellent payment and converting my secured into a unsecured hard had to do the whole thing as if I'm applying for a new card and that I do not like so if I had to recommend any security cards I honestly would recommend Capital One and discover before I recommend u.s. Bank they understand the value of great customers taking care of their cards and they understand the value of customers not wanting to have too many hard pulls on your credit report and they reward you in the end for being a great customer as for US Bank they do not
