If you would like to ruin your credit score with their inefficient payment system, then apply for the SSFCU HELOC. The set-upped payment would not go through with no notice/email and 30 days later, you will get a letter plus losing 88 credit score.

This company is the worst. I have to call if I want information cause no emails are returned and no calls were made to me throughout the entire process. They tell I have to hurry to sign up to lock in a rate. It was never locked in till signing. I was told it would be done by the end of April. It’s the end of the day on June 8th and I’m told it will take a few more weeks. What is so unbelievably unethical is nobody ever calling or emailing me anything. I have told them 5 times I need someone that knows what’s going on to please call me and it haven’t happened once. Would never use this company again nor would I suggest others use their services.

The people are friendly enough, but as a bank, they are pretty old school. There is very little communication when it comes to the process and hit or miss if you're going to get an email back. They also have very few online services and it often feels like a step back in time to do anything. I was told I had to send a request in writing just to change my address and in order to access HELOC funds, I have to write myself a paper check from the account. WHAT? Paper checks are not secure for one thing. Second, this seems crazy to me that you cannot do anything to access the funds online. I wish I went with a different bank, that's for sure.

TERRIBLE customer service! Loan processors are rude and do not respond in an appropriate amount of time. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND using SSFCU for any type of home loans and will be reapplying with a different credit union for my financial needs.

Can't pay down your balance online or phone from your SSFCU account. Have to go to bank or pay $ to wire payment . 45 min hold on phone (2 to 3 times) and no result to pay more than minimum. This is tricking customers to pay more interest. when asking for help from SSFCU loan officers , they say " it is not our responsibility you have to talk to 3rd party mortgage company " . Please please save your soul and do not apply for HELC from SSFCU ( it does not charge you for closing which is not much but drives you crazy with no customer service)

Using SSFCU for Heloc was one of the worst things I have ever done. This should have been slam dunk loan. Have Zero debit, excellent credit, loan was only 30% of value of the home I now own, that has been payed off for years. Now I have missed the closing deadline on the property I had planned for a retirement move. Wouldn’t answer phone calls, emails were very cold, slow and noninformative. If I could give a negative five stars I would. SLOW SLOW SLOW. The local office has been great, but the mortgage office sucks! They forget it is the members that keeps them in business. Word of warning do NOT use them. I am closing my account and moving my money elsewhere.
