53rd bank is the worst bank in United States. The first mistake i made was because i got the loan from them to buy a house i should not do that, and i open a checking account.. please anyone who read this email don’t go to fifth third bank, you going to get late fees and problems and charges your never heard in your life ..Thank you
Worst customer service ever. We were involuntarily switched to 53 for servicing of our loan, and it took a dozen phones calls just to get set up online. Extremely rude on the phone too. Really surprising these days to get such exceptionally bad service.
Previously had MB Financial Bank, they merged with Fifth Third Bank a few months ago. I never had any issues with MB Financial and they had great customer service. I have called this new mortgage company 3 times in the last 2 weeks and can't get one update completed correctly on my Mortgage loan. The last time I needed to speak to someone in Escrow. The Escrow department transferred me to the Insurance department, which then transferred me to the Credit Card department?!? This makes no sense. Each time there is a transfer, they don't transfer you to a person, you get transferred to the phone tree and have to start from the beginning. It's been a very frustrating experience. As soon as it's possible for us to refinance, we will be looking at other options.
My mortgage loan got bought out by them and it's been nothing but h*ll since. Too many problems and inconveniences! I use to pay biweekly without fail to the old company and made easy online payments. It's a royal pain to make payments now, they don't allow biweekly payments. Got marked for a late payment because they took too long to process the payment though it was received by the grace period cutoff. Customer service is appalling and absolutely no help regarding anything. I really can't stand this company and will be looking to refinance very soon just for the sake of getting out from under 5/3 Bank, even if it means a few thousand dollars in refinance fees, it's worth it!
All loans are grouped into a large pool of loans and even if you make a large payment in the thousands they cannot modify your loan because they are all grouped together. Having this bank was the worst decision ever!!! Stop running those stupid commercials saying that you go above and beyond since it is a lie!!!
My mortgage loan was recently acquired by Fifth Third Bank from MB Financial through a recent merger. I had been with MB Financial for four years with no problems. The past two months of transitioning from MB Financial to Fifth Third has been plagued by incompetence, harassment, and a broad general lack of customer service. If you are victim of this recent merger, my condolences. If you are exploring Fifth Third Bank for loans or banking service, my advice, run. Avoid this group at all cost. I have wasted so much time and energy on trying to accomplish some of the basics with this outfit that I am in complete awe of their ineptness, I mean, it is like they are literally trying to fail and drive customers away. I am going to refinance my mortgage just to get away from this place.
Poor service, disorganized, ancient systems. Tried to scam me on homeowners insurance by claiming I don't have it (even though I have had the mortgage for years) and buying a highly overpriced policy. I have complied with all their requirements to stop this and I get no relief, stay away from fifth third.
I have had 2 mortgages with 5/3, The first I paid off in 9 years with their EMPP system it worked great. However in the last year they have screwed up my auto bill payer account and have caused me to make double payments 1 month and miss payments the next. They have charged me over $700 in late fees since January of 2019 because they had auto bill payer taking money out of a closed account. I am reporting them to the Federal trade commission (https://forms.federalreserveconsumerhelp.gov/secure/complaint/complaintType) and the VA which offers lawyers to sue them for free if they believe you have a case. Their custom service claims to fix things but never does. I agree with the others here that they seem to want to get you into foreclosure. They shouldn’t be able to service VA loans they are criminals.
This company has the most ridiculous process to request and verify evidence of insurance. My mortgage loan was sold to Fifth Third Bank, who is now servicing the loan. They sent me a letter requesting evidence of insurance, even though it's escrowed through them and they're the ones paying for it. They warned that if you don't send it to them, they'll bill me an obscene amount for their own insurance. So I sent them evidence of coverage. Unfortunately, they send no confirmation once they receive it from you, so you have to waste your time calling in. I did so and they confirmed they had everything they need. But then a couple weeks later I get another letter. This time they ask for the master HOA policy. So I have my HOA send them the master policy. I again waste my time calling in to confirm they received it and they again say they have everything they need. A couple weeks later, YET AGAIN, I get a third letter from them asking for the master insurance policy, but for the year previous to the one had already been sent to them. Again, I have my HOA fax it and waste my time calling in to confirm they have what they need so they don't rip me for their own obscene insurance. This is an absolutely ridiculous process. Apparently they haven't figured out how to request what they need all at once. Instead they inundate you with repeated requests. At this point I have nothing but contempt and disdain for this poorly run company. I would not recommend them to anyone.
Do NOT if you have the choice, choose this bank for anything. My mortgage was sold to this bank and it is horrible! I get letters stating they don’t know how to apply extra funds that I pay monthly so I can not pay more than my monthly payment amount or they don’t even apply it! They paid another city’s taxes, as well as my own, and denied that it happened, asking me to pay more toward my escrow. No one knows what they are talking about and switch me from person to person! I’ve NEVER had such stress and frustration with any other company.
