Applied and was approved for a Carnival Cruise MasterCard line of credit serviced by BarclayCard. The online presentation from Carnival and BarclayCard led me to believe I would be approved or denied online and be able to pay if approved immediately. This was key because I had two more days to pay until penalties would accrue. Instead, when I followed their links to go back to Carnival and pay, a BarclayCard "technical issue" message appeared
leaving me without an option to pay for the cruise with the newly approved line of credit. I called the 866 number presented with the error message to speak with a customer service representative. This is where everything went bad. First i had to re-explain the problem several times. And the way the representative played back my explanation came across as willful misunderstanding. Then after an extended hold they "informed" me I could use the credit card to pay for the cruise once i received it in the mail. Which as I explained before the hold, would be of absolutely no help to me because the delay would case me to accrue penalties. At that point, I told them to close the account and remove the check from the credit bureau. The rep then played the "read from the script of all the bad things that would happen" if I cancelled the account. Which was insulting. And, then told me "I could contact the credit bureaus to dispute the inquiries". So my credit report gets dinged, I don't get to use the product as advertised, and had to call into customer service for a prolonged, insulting and painful discussion.… read more

I have had a MasterCard with them for over 6 years. I have excellent credit, paid everyone of my payments on time, than all the sudden they lowered my credit card limit in half. They stated that one of my online payments was returned, but what happened was I entered my payment online info wrong and I corrected this and entered the right one. I called them and they gave some incorrect info. On why
they lowered my credit limit. So, I did them A favor and paid off the amount and will never use them again. I will close this account maybe next year. All my other companies treat me soooo much better than this company. I do not recommend them.… read more

They offer 50k miles plus a bonus of 500 miles when you spend any amount and 79 annual fee that yiu can discount with a coupon that they offer in the website, which is not true you need to spend $500 in a period of 90 days and pay the annual fee that's fair

I also was told by the flight attendant that I would only need a single purchase of any amount to get my bonus miles. Doesn't seem to be true since I haven't received my bonus miles after 2 months. So now I will try to spend $500 and see if I get the bonus miles next month ...

I gathered up points for years and purchased tickets through ticketmaster thinking I was gonna get 6 month 0 apr turns out there excuse was I have to physically buy tickets at the stadium !

Existing customer, had 2 credit cards plus saving accounts products. The oldest with a 7800 limit, the second with 2500 limit (through apple). They sold my 1st credit card with higher limit to a mediocre unknown company. I have since applied for their Barclays arrival plus credit card to replace my sold card. They raised my 2500 limit to 5500 without me asking, after I paid the balance down to 100. I had a 715
credit score, never missed a payment with them on both cards, 100% payment history on my credit report, with a 6 1/2 year old bankruptcy. They denied my initial application. I called them to review the application, and they asked me for additional information. They did a review and still denied my application because they feel i have sufficient limit with them. So i went from 7800 + 2500 extended to me to a sold credit card and an increase that i didn't ask for and you are penalizing me by denying an application because i have 50% of the limit that had in the beginning. Completely unreliable bank booking dates. I've lost the miles I had before opening the account, which was the reason I opened it in the first place. Customer service never replied to my emails, only phone calls work, sometimes. Overall the worse customer experience I ever had with any banking/credit-card service in Europe.

Warning - Be careful of Barclays card they sold my credit card out to another bank, I had a perfect pamt history. You can have great credit they will sell you out to a subprime bank. You have NO say. They sell out accounts at random. Also they will delete all your good pamt history and your score will fall many points. Stay away from this bank. I learned the hard way!!!

Had this card for about a year. Started with a $4500 limit and have had 2 increases. I’m now a $7000. Had no problems getting the points for my Wyndham Rewards. So far everything is really good with this card.

The worst customer service ever. Usually they don’t know what’s going on, takes a lot of time and a lot of phone call transfer, and you have to explain for them over and over. And after all, they are not helpful.
Today I wanted to confirm my change of address before they make decision on my credit card application, and the agent told me there is no way to contact that team, and my application will
be rejected because of that. This happened while another agent suggested before to send them the documents with my current address, and then call and confirm it on the phone. Extremely unsatisfying. This has got to be one of the worst banks that I have ever dealt with. Their customer service and good business practices are horrible. Apple should be ashamed of themselves for partnering with this bank. I had problems ordering from Apple because I had hot activated my card, but my account was still active and they would not let me order even though I had my account number and was willing to answer any
security questions that they had. I finally was able to order from Apple and earned rewards. When I got my 1st statement, I was going to redeem my rewards for an ITunes card only to find out they automatically sent me an Apple gift card instead. They are not willing to excange this gift card. I was told it was my own fault because I didn't read the fine pint that apparently says you have to go online before you even get your 1st statement to pick what kind of gift card you want, and if you don't, they just send you what they want!!!… read more

Capital One's cousin, who won't approve me when pretty much everyone else has and I even have pre-approved offers coming in the mail, now. When I first applied I had a thin file, fine. When I next applied, I was established and they sent me a diplomatic "we don't want your kind" letter, which is when the bank sends a disapproval letter with instead of listing the 1-2 issues why the didn't actually approve you,

It all starts with a merchant I ordered from who did not send ALL of the order. so naturally I filed a dispute when the merchant ignored my requests for the rest. Barclay basically just added a note to my account and it went on my credit report (just the dispute note, which can harm you if youre trying to buy a house)! They also said I still have to pay the disputed amount and
if they rule in my favor then I will get credit (Luckily the merchant made good so I paid it). LOL Go Eff yourself!
Secondly, to get a limit increase, which Ive had this card for a couple years now with a 1500 limit, they put a mark on my credit again by checking. None of my other cards do that and I have a lot. They still turned me down for an increase.
Thirdly, which doesnt have anything to do with me, but still, My friends husband had an account opened is his name by his ex wife unknowingly and she maxed it out. Barclay is still making him pay for it! He obviously won the case against herin court and she has to pay it but cmon, do you think she will? Hes still responsible and still has to pay it off.
So with all of that, and maybe its petty to you, but there are other cards out there that are on the customers side. Discover, the best at customer service, Chase, Citi, Capital one, Theyre all 10 stars better than this hunk of crap Barclay and as soon as I buy my house in the next few months, I am cutting them off. WORST CARD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TEAM EVER. Paid off $1,970 within the allotted time period of free interest. Got no notice of $30 being remaining on my card when deferred interest was up. I had put other purchases on this card and paid off so much of them it's not even funny. They think it's okay to charge $580 interest on the original $2,000 purchase over $30. What literal trash and scum a company is

I was very disappointed,when I applied it said I would get instantly $100 off my ticket, but somehow I could not get approved instantly... then they said I would get $100 statement credit later, but said I had to use it within 90 days. Now I could outfit has to be used within 30 days, so no credit at all. I would not give it even one star.........so I closed my account .....

Really terrible customer service. They gave me a 5 figure credit line, but then put a hold on my card when I purchased a jet blue flight within my secured account ! Also, points only accrue to the main card holder, not the other cardholders. And even if I buy my daughter a flight, I have travel with her in order to get the free bags. Stupid. Chase reserve card MUCH better

This card has most horrible service possible. For the last 3 weeks at least, their web site does not allow me to book hotels or rental car. I have never heard of a professional company that can afford to have their booking web site down for so long. I am not sure how a company like this stays in business. Maybe its just their brand name.
And then on calling the 1800 number, I am told
that hotels cannot be booked on the phone as well due to a lack of access.

The credit card has great perks for LL Bean customers, which was why I got one in the first place. However, I am VERY GLAD that LL Bean is dropping Barclay's credit card. I used Barclay's website to pay the balance of my credit card every month. On my most recent bill, I had an overdue notice and a late fee! I couldn't understand why since everything looked good with the automatic payments. I called
Barclay's customer service and was told that automatic payments automatically STOP after 12 months!! I never received a notice that this was going to happen! OK, I paid the $27 late fee, despite knowing that the late payment was not my fault. What really made me mad was when the customer representative told me that the late payment would be reported to the credit bureaus! It is their policy to report payments greater than 30 days to the credit bureaus! I made the payment as soon as I learned of the problem but still will have my credit score dinged! My card was fraudulently used for two somewhat small charges on 4/13/18, and I was notified by text asking if the charges were mine. Of course I replied saying No, but then those charges went through anyway. I called that day and again on 4/18/18 to ask when my account credit would be issued and was told it would be after the current billing cycle ended. Here it is a month later and no refund.
When I called and spoke to the agent, I was told that those two charges had never even been flagged as fraudulent, but that he would take of it for me, which I think he did, because he was able to give me a case Id#. So NAY to the whole process and the agent I spoke to on 4/18 who did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and YAY (hopefully) to the agent from today.… read more

This card has the worst customer service. I\'ve been with them for over 4 years and lately have been trying to get a credit increase (currently @ $10,000.00) to lower my credit usage. Currently was at 14% usage and after they pulled my credit score (730 fico with no negative no late payments) they lowered my credit limit to $1,800.00 due to applying for few better cards with lower apr. They lowered my credit limit
by $8,200.00 and they didn\'t even notify me they had lowered my credit limit until I noticed my credit usage went way up which lowered my fico score. I called Barclays and they basically said they wouldn\'t do anything since I\'ve been looking for lower interest cards even though I\'ve been with them for 4 years with no missed payments. Worst credit card company I\'ve ever dealth with and so I cancel the card and will never get another card from them again. I got this for the 40.000 offer, but I had to spend 2,000 to get the miles.
Problems: once I received my 40,000 and tried to use them for free travel, 1 you have to pay a fee for each one-way ticket you redeem (using your miles are not free)
2 when using these 40,000 miles frontier gives you the worse routes ie, LA to Orlando will route you from LA to Denver with a 19hr
lay over, then you leave Denver to Kansas, then to Orlando.

We were misinformed by a Lufthansa employee about the companion ticket, which is the only reason we applied for the credit card in the first place. It is pretty much worthless, compared to most other credit cards. My wife and I want to take a trip in September from Denver to Stuttgart (Denver
to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to Stuttgart) and fly back to Denver from Rome (Rome to Munich and Munich to Denver). On Lufthansa’s website the price shows at $1,828 per ticket. When you call to book with the companion pass, it was not only $3,300 per ticket, since the online pricing is “promotional”, but they claimed that the Frankfurt to Stuttgart flight was “Lufthansa Cityline” and not Lufthansa, so it cannot be part of the companion pass. That’s another $125 per ticket, so in total this would cost $1,775 per person with the companion pass, or $1,828 without. For two people that’s a difference of $106 and once you factor in the $89 annual fee, we just saved a whopping $17…Tore up my credit card and I will never fly Lufthansa again, just out of principal! I had been Customer with Master card black card since last 3 years. $495 fee is outrageous. I still paid since I travel so much, I couldn’t use benefits of lounge card because they are normally on different terminals and it won’t work out. They say they cover $100 per day cost of your essential interns in case your bag is delayed. Well, when I called them when my airline had lost bag, they direct
me with their insurance agency. It’s vey difficult to get hold of anyone. I had called them about 20 times and left at least 15 times. The initial upfront rewards are great and were of good use. HOWEVER, going forward, future reward incentives are NEVER honored! (That's 10 points on eligible stays through the Choice Privileges membership and 5 points per dollar charged to the Choice Privileges Visa card). I have had this card for a year and to this day, I have not received my 5 points per dollar charged to the card for my eligible stays! They promised in
every conversation they would sort it out and it never happens. I have a 791 fico score. Have 4 credit cards. With a total of credit lines of $64,800.00 only owe $2,336.00 about 4 usage. Applied and was declined. They said I dont need anymore credit. Crazy people. But is ok. Went pnline applied for another chase card the same nite and tgey gave me $16,900.00 credit line. Barclays cN keep their card. Will never apply with them again. Do not get this card if you appreciate your credit score. I may charge it up but I have always kept it below the 30% mark and out if know where they knocked my credit limit down by 4500 putting me right at Bal available of 200. I am pissed me credit score took a hit. I pay them on time all the time. They stated based on the number of cards I have they
lowered my limit. Bull I got a car and they lowered my limit. As long as I pay you off on time and more that is due why are you worried about my other credit. If you look they are paid on time also. Worse customer service. Rudest, disrespectful relationship managers I have ever talk with. You call customer service you get automation service for hours on end and will hang call on you. As I was booking a flight came across an offer they on Priceline if you got the card you get instant 100 dollars discount on your current booking. Guest what, they took all information and approved me for the card but never gave me the

I have been banking with Barclays us for several years and have several CDS with them, as well as two savings accounts, and I had intended on just leaving the interest until the CDS matured..
My problems began when I wanted to check their last financial statement for the third quarter of 2017, I was shocked they told me they are not required to do that, and gave different numbers that were all disconnected of course.
Then all my monthly statements disappeared as if these accounts were no existent. I worked with them for a week no resolution.
This prompted me to close all Savings accounts, and transfer all the accumulated interest from the CDS., and discontinue any more Deposits with this Bank. It also prompted me to do more research, to find out this Bank does not make loans to Consumers, so I asked them what are they doing with all this money they are inducing people to Deposit, no answer of course.
I have now had to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial protection Bureau. I was even more horrified when I googled about Barclays and found people saying their money had just disappeared from their accounts as if it never existed in Barclays Uk. Barclays has on their web site , they state Barclays is their parent Company, this is no longer seems to be the Case either in information I saw.
I am posting my experiences so people can be aware of the problems. In reading a lot of other reviews, Barclays US seems to be okay while they are getting money from you , but a lot of Consumers State they have a problem when they want their money.… read more

The current promotion is misleading. 15 points for each$1 spent. Here is how that works.
5 points for each $1 spent at Choice hotels. This is from Visa.
10 points from Choice privileges (Which you get if you are a Member regardless of method of payment.)
So in actuality the card is only giving you 5 points for each $1 spent not 15!

Please read the reviews before you make the same mistake I did. I have excellent credit (FICO 810) but wanted to transfer 2,000 to Barclay card in light of the 0.00 balance transfer fee/rate offer. After applying for the card (I have never been turned down for credit in 30 years) I was told by Barclay my application was under review. I called once a week for four weeks and was told the same "review
process" story. I realized something was not right and read the Terms and Conditions from their website. Barclay's site states "balance transfers that do not post within 45 days of your application will be charged the 13.99% APR." Their Terms and Conditions also state that "balance transfers will not be approved until 10 days after we mail your card to you. Additionally, the small print reads "it takes up to 4 weeks for balance transfers to post to your account." I realized Barclay card was stalling in approving my account so that the balance transfer would fall outside of their "45 days" period. I immediately called and cancelled my balance transfer request and withdrew my application from Barclay card. I then called Discover Card and the 2,000 balance transfer with them was a seamless process and posted to my account the following day. I was almost duped, and I wouldn't want another consumer to have the same experience I did with a creditor who is setting the rules then bending them to their benefit.… read more

Worst card and service in industry!! After 3 years, they lowered my credit limit out of the blue one day from $7k to $3k. I have a solid 680-710 score from month to month depending on balances, not a single blemish anywhere, and an Amex and several Citi cards with $15k limits. In the month prior to Barclaycard lowering my limit to $3k, I made a $1200 payment to them to pay off a promotional
balance transfer before it expired. In the month they lowered my limit, I made a $300 payment. By lowering my limit, they caused this card to go from under 50% utilization to over 90% utilization which tanked my credit score by 20 points. It was already a worthless card and Barclaycard went the extra mile to make it useless and dangerous. I emailed customer service and "a manager" called me the next day to explain the bank could do whatever they want, whenever they want, without any notice to me. Takes forever to review documents for approval, after 6 weeks they have not processed the application. This is not reliable or professional. Tried to cancel the application, not possible. Must wait for them to approve card and then cancel. Could be months from now.

Fan Rewards are not real. I signed up hoping to get field level passes, tickets, or cool game day experiences, but none exist. Everything is based on "availability" and despite checking every day, there are no offerings other than "QA sessions" with former NFL burnouts that can't even get local used car ad work anymore.

Terrible service. Also, used the card to purchase a new MacBook, never used it for anything else, made on-time payments larger than minimum and after I paid the card down to approx 40% utilization - they lowered the credit limit to $100 more than current balance. This increased the % of utilization and impacted my credit score by 15 points. I will be paying off balance in the next 30 days and closing account.

I am on the hold for the same problem as the review below. It is completely frustrating that I purchased over the phone and the card was declined 3 times. Then the Fraud detection department left a message and I have been calling multiple numbers, getting people that were impossible to understand, on hold, etc. All for the representative to finally tell me the hold was lifted and to place the order again!

This has been the best credit card I've ever had and I've had about 18 cards. Great rewards plan and bonus with signup and never had a customer service issue in my 8 months of using it. That I can apply my points (dollars) to cover the cost of travel 4 months retroactively is amazing. It means I can get the best deals on hotels, airfare, etc., without having to use the travel services of
