Allstate has been my car insurance company for a few years now. The initial application process was not difficult and overall the policy has not been too expensive. I have a clean driving record and they gave me a price based on that. However, last year I had a minor traffic accident and the interactions that took place afterwards were not the best. My Allstate agent contacted me initially about the accident since the other party had filed a claim. After one initial conversation, he was very difficult to get back in touch with and we had a lot of trouble communicating. The other party in the accident ended up lying about what had happened and I even had pictures to dispute her claim, however my agent was reluctant to believe me and as a result my insurance ended up going up a lot. I was disappointed in this one situation, but overall Allstate has been a solid car insurance company.
I opened a Key Bank account a few years ago when they offered an incentive promotion. Just for opening a savings account, I received a free iPod. I only had to deposit a minimum of $50 into the account to be eligible. I did so and continued to use this account as a savings account for a number of years. Since I moved away from the town where it was located, I decided to close the account. I did have some issues with officially closing the account. I tried to do it via phone, but was told I had to come in person, then came in person and thought it was all taken care of, but began receiving statements again a few months later in the mail. After another in person visit, they finally closed the account, but were not satisfied with my reason of moving away from the town as a reason to close the account. This discouraged me a bit from trying to ever open another account there in the future.
I opened my Wells Fargo account in college, since it was the major bank located on our campus in North Carolina. They had very good incentives for students to open accounts, including debit cards with our university logo on them, which were also connected to our student spending money accounts. This was very convenient! Any time I had any issues, the customer service was excellent and very helpful in quickly resolving my problems. The ATMs were also very helpful since you could deposit checks into them, which I did frequently. They were also very responsive when I lost my ATM card a few times and immediately issued me a new one. Overall, it was a very positive banking experience!
I have had a Capital One account for about a year and a half now and have been very pleased with this bank. I opened it when I joined a graduate school in Virginia and Capital One was the bank that was on campus. The campus branch was super helpful in setting up an account. Anytime there has been an issue or if I need to deposit checks or anything, I always go to the campus branch and there is never a wait time and the staff are so friendly. I traveled internationally and had no problems withdrawing cash with my ATM card in other countries. The customer service and convenience of Capital One has been terrific!
I have been 100% satisfied with Charles Schwab High Yield Checking. The customer service is outstanding. Whenever I have had to call with a question or problem, it has been very easy to speak to a customer service representative and they are able to easily resolve the problem. My debit card has never had an issue or been denied, even when I am travelling in foreign countries. My favorite part of this account is the free ATM withdraws worldwide. Even if an ATM charges a fee, Charles Schwab reimburses the fee at the end of the month. The website is extremely user friendly and allows me to keep up to date on my checking account and finances. Charles Schwab even sends useful updates and tips about investment possibilities for the brokerage account that comes with the checking account. This has been the best bank I have ever dealt with!
