I am a female teacher who bought a Colonial Life disability insurance policy several years back because their representative told me about their maternity benefit. Basically for every child I have while the policy is in effect, I could make a claim for disability and collect a cash settlement to pay for medical bills, baby supplies, and just daily living needs. I have used Colonial disability insurance twice now and couldn’t be happier. The only drawback is that it is a little pricey if you are not planning to have kids. If you are expecting to become pregnant then I can tell you this disability insurance is a life saver.
If you have never used an Apple product then you should. I grew up with a PC in my household. They functioned well and did what you wanted them to do. It wasn’t until my family bought me an Apple laptop that I realize PC laptop and an Apple laptop are completely different. This is also true with all Apple products because they all work together. You never have to worry about another Apple product working with another Apple product because they just do. I have never looked back since my first Apple product purchase. I now own a laptop, iPod, and iPhone and am completely satisfied with each one of them.
I don’t use many credit cards but when I do, I use my Citibank Thank You credit card. I actually started using this credit card for everyday purchases, which I then I pay off immediately just to earn the mileage points. I enjoy earning mileage points that are redeemable for just about any travel expense. I also like the free companion airfare ticket. The only drawback I see is the $150 annual fee, though I’m grateful to be enjoying one year of no annual fees for signing up. In the future, I hope I earn enough points to warrant this fee.
I have been banking with BB&T Financial for 10 years now. They are not flashy and do nothing more than the other large banking institutions. I like them because they are there when I need them. If I have a problem with a transaction they fix it or explain it to me. I am grateful for the overdraft protection, as it has helped me in a pinch several times now. My kids also enjoy going to the bank with me because the tellers always provide them with a sucker. BB&T is a good bank that does what you want it to do.
An ING checking account has been a blessing for me. I primarily use my ING checking account as a savings account because I still use a traditional bank for daily purchases. I like putting my money someplace safe, but I also like having instant access to my money when I absolutely need it. I also like that my debit card is a Mastercard. It’s nice to know my transactions are being processed accurately and safely. They also just recently added an app that allows you to take a picture of a check in order to deposit it. No going to unsafe ATMs again! ING banking is a great alternative to traditional banking.
I use Amazon.com to buy many products because I almost always save money, even when I have to pay for shipping. I can save even more on future purchases when I use my Amazon credit card because I earn points. These points can be redeemed to pay for future purchases. I also like how easy the Amazon site is maneuver. I simply type in the product, review companies/people who are selling the product, click add to cart, and then checkout with the click of a button. Returning products is also a simple process. The whole Amazon experience is just what anyone shopping from home wants.
I am delighted by State Farm. Growing up, my mom and dad always had State Farm car and home owners insurance. Our representative always knew my brother and me by name, which only in retrospect do I recognize as a big deal. As an adult, I've stayed with State Farm for car, home owners, and life insurance policies. Several years ago I tried to "shop around" and find something more affordable. Admittedly, I found a company who could beat State Farm's car insurance prices. However, it took very little time to become completely disenchanted by the big business feel of their competitors. Now we're back with State Farm with all three policies and delighted once more with the personable service and competitive prices (to reinstate our business, they beat the lower prices offered to us by other companies). I've moved to a neighboring city but maintained my business with my representative because of his excellent manner and service. He has personally driven the 30 miles to my home to meet when neither my husband nor I could make the trip to his office. We're both grateful for this professional relationship and plan to continue leaning on State Farm for our insurance needs.
