I've been with Geico auto insurance for 7 years, and for the most part they have been really excellent. My absolute favorite thing about Geico is the ease with which everything can be done online. You can apply entirely online, pay premiums, change payment schedules, print ID cards, quote and implement policy changes, and more. I've also used their online contact several times to verify info or ask questions, and I've always received a personalized reply within about an hour. I've used Roadside Assistance several times, and there's always been someone there within an hour, even in the middle of nowhere. My only complaint would be that when we originally applied, they wouldn't give us 3 years driving credit for my husband or me (even though he should have had it), but kept saying that the extra (and expensive) fee would be removed. However, the fee took MUCH longer than they claimed to be removed, and we got the runaround a few times. Eventually, it did get fixed, but only after we had to pay it a few times. Other than that, though, costs are comparably quite good, and customer service is really excellent!
I originally started my account with OnPoint Community Credit Union back when the name was Portland Teachers Credit Union, some 8 years ago and have been happy with them ever since! I really have nothing to complain about. I first had an auto loan through them, and it was straightforward, simple, and their customer service has always been great. I had to set up a checking account for automatic withdrawals to cover the car payments, and deposits were always simple to make for a few months worth of payments at a time. It was great because I never had to worry about a late payment or late fee with the automatic withdrawal. I loved receiving monthly statements as well, since another credit union I have used would never send statements or make them available online. I did apply about a year ago online for a mortgage quote, but the online system didn't quite work right. I got a great offer elsewhere so I didn't pursue it, but I'm sure that if I had shown up at a branch I would have received great service.
My first experience with Utah Community Credit Union was when we purchased a car through a local dealer who partnered with them as their lender. It was really easy to set up the necessary savings account and finance the loan, and the rate was also fairly good. The customer service when I've needed to call in a payment or have a question answered has always been good, and everything about the loan has gone smoothly with no hidden tricks or anything! My *only* complaint is that their online system does not work perfectly...I've been locked out several times even when I entered the correct password, and it's been a pain having to call several times to be walked through the dummy version of how I need to log into the account (when really it just needed to be reset). It would be really nice if they'd allow for online payments to make timely payback of the loan easier. In my general experience though, UCCU has been an excellent and reliable credit union!
I've had a Wells Fargo checking account for the last 7 years, and it's been just fine! For everyday use including depositing checks, direct deposits, using my debit card, withdrawing cash, and paying the bills, it's been perfect. As long as you only use it for the basic needs of a checking account, it can be pretty much totally free, which is a huge perk. Customer service in all of the locations I've been to has always been great and fairly quick. One of my complaints would be that if you DO need any other services (cashier's check, money wire transfer, using your card or withdrawing money in a foreign country, etc.) the fees associated with them are often extremely high in comparison with some other banks I've had experience with in the past. That being said, I use these services so rarely and because Wells Fargo locations are so plentiful and convenient, I continue to use them. On the plus side, we've received phone warnings of fishy transactions using our account, they've never lost or messed up a deposit (which has happened to me with other banks and was a nightmare!), and the new ATM's make deposits totally a breeze (they just scan your check or cash in and print off a picture even on your receipt).
