Golden Circle Credit Union is a truly wonderful credit union. It was one of the first places that I ever banked with, and I now hold all other credit unions to their standards. They go above and beyond when it comes to customer service skills and helping their members in any way possible. They have checking and saving accounts tailored for all members and excellent rates on their loans. I never had to wait in line for long, and they always keep their lobby area clean. Parking is an issue at some locations, but it is worth it. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a credit union.
Great Lakes Credit Union is a pretty good credit union. My husband and I opened an account there while he was stationed in Chicago, IL. We only did basic transactions like cashing checks and making deposits and withdrawals. Despite only doing basic transactions, customer service representatives were always friendly and helpful. Locations were convenient to where we were living, but they could benefit from opening more locations. The application process was quick and simple to complete and we received an automatic approval. I only had to call customer service a handful of times and I was always treated with respect. Wait times were never long. Overall, they are a credit union I’d recommend to people living in the Chicago area.
AB&T National Bank is not a bank that I would recommend. While my husband was stationed in the area, we needed a local credit union or bank to do transactions with. We heard decent things about this bank, so we decided to try them. They refused to open an account for us because they knew that we would most likely close it after a few months when his training was over. The customer service representative was rude and was not willing to help us at all. We called customer service to share our experience. They told us that we are more than welcome to open an account for any length of time, but we didn’t want to go back after being treated so rudely.
I was a member at this credit union when my husband was stationed at the Army base in Dalesville, Alabama. We only kept the account for a few months because we needed a local credit union to do transactions with while my husband was doing training in the area. The credit union was rude from day one. The application process is quick and easy. The lines are often long during lunch hours, and after 2pm. I recommend going during other times during the day. If you are looking for a good checking account, I recommend them as long as you can look past the rude customer service members.
I signed up for Woodforest National Bank simply because they have weekend hours and are located inside of Walmart. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also did business in a professional way. Unfortunately, I closed my account with them because a lot of local places refused to accept checks written from their accounts, and some places would not even accept the debit card issued by Woodforest National Bank. I would be very pleased to try this bank again when I move to a new city next year because the bank itself had no issues. I am hoping the issues I ran into are just local issues because their hours and locations are convenient for me.
Brown and Brown Insurance Services were not very impressive when I used them. I contacted them to save money on my automobile insurance. I was quoted a low price over the telephone, but when I went to sign the paperwork, they informed me that the quoted price was only for a year of prepaid insurance. I still ended up using them for roughly 6 months while shopping around. The customer service members were very sneaky and unprofessional. The rates are only competitive if you are able to prepay for the insurance needed. I would not recommend them to the average person.
ABNB Federal Credit Union is an average credit union. I used them for a short-term personal loan. Their rates were competitive compared to those of other credit unions in the area, but if I would have done more research about other credit unions I could have found a better rate. They were very quick to approve me, even though I did not have an account with them. They did require for me to open a savings account in order to obtain the loan. There was no service fee or minimum balance requirements. I was able to pay the loan off early with no penalties. They have good customer service skills.
Abilene Federal Credit Union is what I consider an average credit union. I needed an account while my husband was stationed in California for a few months so I could cash checks and do basic banking transactions. They had a very simple application process that was instantly approved by their staff on site. They were friendly and helpful, but did not have many different types of accounts to offer. I never had any issues, so I did not need to contact them over the phone. Their website was very basic, but it got the job done. If you are looking for a basic credit union, this place is worth checking out.
Due to a recent move, I needed to find car insurance very quickly. My current company did not offer insurance policies in the state of Ohio and I was not aware of this when I moved there. I contacted several insurance companies in the area, and they all wanted large down payments, for me to pay for all 6 to 12 months in one lump sum, or were very expensive compared to what I was willing to pay. I contacted Titan Insurance Company over the phone and they were very friendly and helpful. I had several options explained to me and they were able to find a short term plan for me. I would recommend them to anyone needing a smaller insurance company.
I had to stay in Ohio with a sick family member for a few months and needed a local bank or credit union to use. Homeland Credit Union was the perfect solution to my problem. I explained my situation to them when I arrived to their Chillicothe branch. The employee was very helpful and explained all of the options to me. Even though she knew that I was only going to use their services for six months or less, she still treated me with respect and made me feel welcome. The application process was short and easy. I really wish that this was a nationwide credit union so I could still do business with them. They were always friendly and I never had any issues with my accounts while banking there.
After hearing good things about this credit union, I decided to give them a try. I was looking for a credit union close to my job so I could complete banking transactions during my lunch breaks. When I first arrived at Old Dominion University Credit Union, I was not impressed. None of the employees greeted me, in fact, I was not even acknowledged for almost fifteen minutes even though I was standing in the line waiting to see a teller. There were no members in front of me, and none of the tellers were working with other members. A lady came over and quickly asked if I required assistance. I told her that I was interested in opening up an account. She gave me the website and told me to do it there because they were busy. I didn’t join because of how unprofessional they seemed.
Security First Insurance Company was recommended to me by a neighbor. I needed home insurance until my home was sold, but I did not want to spend much on it. They had a very basic option that was offered to me and I accepted it. There were a lot of rules with the policy I had, including no pets. If any of the rules were broken, it would void the insurance policy. This was fine with me at the time, but I would most likely use a different company if I ever owned a house in Florida again. I felt as if their regular polices were not very competitively priced.
Kennedy Space Center Credit Union is what I consider to be an average credit union. Their staff was always friendly, but they never went out of their way to help their members or thanked them. They have average interest rates for their interest-bearing accounts. The process to join was very straightforward and on a short application form. I was handed the form and told to return when it was filled out, rather than filling it out there with an employee. The lines were never too long, but there was often a wait due to many employees not waiting on customers. It was an average credit union, and I would rather go to another credit union than return to them.
After having my daughter, I decided that I needed to open up a Savings account for her at a bank or credit union. I wanted to open one at a reputable place, but at one that I didn’t do my own transactions with. I did some research and decided to try Marine Federal Credit Union. The location that I went to was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The application process was very quick and the lady opening my account explained things clearly. Anytime I go to do a transaction, the staff remembers us and makes small talk. Overall, Marine Federal Credit Union reminds me of a small town bank that you see on the old television shows. I recommend them.
I used Florida A&M University Federal Credit Union for a personal loan. They had excellent interest rates, outstanding staff, and wonderful policies. I had no issues when dealing with them. I used several forms of communication with this credit union and received great customer service every time. I only went to one location to conduct business, but it was very clean and at a very convenient location. It appeared to be recently remodeled. All of their staff was dressed in a professional manner and treated me with respect. If you are looking for a new credit union, I highly encourage you to check out Florida A&M University Federal Credit Union.
First Flight Credit Union is not a credit union that I would recommend. The application process was rather long compared to applications that other banks and credit unions offer. The free checking account was convenient but customer service was always difficult to deal with. They were often rude and acted like I was bothering them by asking them to deposit a check for me or to do other simple transactions. I have witnessed a bank teller using her cell phone to watch television and she asked me to wait for the commercial break before she could help me. When I signed up for their free checking account, I was told that I was able to get checks for free. I ordered a box of checks and was very pleased when they arrived two weeks later. Unfortunately, the charge was deducted from my account. I called customer service and was informed that the customer service representative was incorrect and the charge was valid. There are much better credit unions available.
I have been a member of State Employees Credit Union for a few months now. Their application to join was very simple and straightforward. Customer service is always friendly and helpful. I have never had any customer service related issues on the phone or in person. They offer many types of accounts so all of their members are able to find something that fits their lifestyle. They have a location close to where I live, and their hours are great. I highly recommend State Employees Credit Union to anyone that is looking for a new place to do business with.
Compared to other credit unions in the Raleigh area, I would rate this one as above average. Coastal Federal Credit Union has an easy application process and friendly customer service representatives. I have had to bank with several different credit unions and banks due to moving a lot. This credit union offers convenient locations and competitive interest rates. Coastal Federal Credit Union is a member of the shared banking program so you are able to do transactions at more than just their branch locations. I recommend this credit union if you are looking for a credit union to do business with.
Virginia Educators Credit Union is what I would consider an average credit union. They have convenient locations and normal business hours. Their application is simple to understand and of average length. I had an automobile loan with them for roughly 2 years before selling my vehicle. Their staff was friendly and helpful and their locations were always clean. They offered a skip-a-payment program a couple of times a year where you could skip a monthly payment and add it to the end of the loan. The program was always around when people would do holiday shopping or go on summer vacations. They are a nice credit union for the average person.
One of the things that I miss most about Florida is Space Coast Credit Union. I still have an account there, but it is no longer my primary account because I left the state. Space Coast Credit Union always had some of the most friendly staff members and they were always very helpful. I often used the Deland branches and I never had any issues. Lines were never too long and the lobby was always clean. This is the type of credit union that will get to know customers by name and no longer require identification for simple transactions. Their application process for loans or credit cards can be completed quickly online and approvals do not take long to get. I highly recommend this credit union.
I had home insurance with State Farm a few years ago. The application process was simple and straightforward. I completed it online and a customer service representative called me to go over everything I filled out and to ask a few questions. The customer service representatives were always friendly and helpful, but they never went above and beyond their job duties. The rates were competitive. A few discounts are offered if you have multiple insurance policies with them. Overall, I had no issues with State Farm but I do believe that there are better insurance companies out there that have more to offer.
I had Geico automobile insurance several years ago. Their application process was very simple and quick. I did it over the phone with a customer service representative. Unfortunately, the customer service representative was very rude and was not helpful at all. Their rates were decent and required no money down, so I decided to go with them for the time being. A lot of things that they advertised, such as roadside assistance and car rentals when your vehicle was being repaired for anything, were not actually included in my insurance coverage. I was made to believe that they were, but when I actually needed it, I was informed that I did not select to add those to my coverage. I ended up switching to a different insurance company that fit my needs better. If you take the time to research other companies, I think most people will find better options out there.
I have had USAA for 5 years. I switched from my old insurance company because they were overcharging me. USAA offered the same coverage for less money. The application process took less than 10 minutes and the representative was very friendly. I set up payments for twice monthly and have never had any issues with payments. I was rear-ended by a driver that had another insurance provider. I called USAA and they told me that if they were going to negotiate with the other insurance provider that I would have to pay my $500 deductible. The other option was for them to guide me so I could negotiate myself. I relied on them heavily and they gave me excellent advice. Overall, I would highly recommend them to anyone that is eligible for their auto insurance.
I was told by a family member about the great savings accounts that Chase Bank offers. I already had accounts with numerous other banks due to moving a lot, but decided to look into Chase Bank. They were offering a free checking account at the time with no minimum balance. You had to open the account with $20 but could withdraw it instantly if you needed to. I set up a small automatic deposit for each month. A year later, their terms changed and they started requiring a minimum balance for the account type that I had. I was lucky and met this minimum balance and was able to avoid fees. If you are serious about saving money and not touching the account, this is a great bank to go with.
Citi Bank sounded like a great bank to do business with. I decided to open a checking account with them because I was already in possession of a credit card with their bank. The application process took longer than it does at most banks and they asked for a lot more details about me, both personal and financial, than what I recall other banks asking. The customer service representative that I was dealing with was very hard to understand and acted as if I was bothering her when I asked her questions about the account that I was opening. Shortly after opening the account, I was hit with a fee. I called them and inquired about this fee. They said that their terms recently changed and I was required to have a minimum balance and direct deposit to avoid the fees. I told them that I was not aware of these changes and they said it was too bad. I closed my account with them.
Navy Federal Credit Union is a wonderful credit union that offers many types of financial services. Personally, I have used them for credit cards, savings accounts, personal loans, automobile loans, and checking accounts. I have had a wonderful experience dealing with Navy Federal Credit Union, and feel as if they offered more branches that I could rely solely on them for all of my financial needs. Customer service has always been helpful and friendly, both in person and over the telephone. Their lines are often long around paydays, but the customer service representatives and tellers keep the lines moving in a timely fashion. I have always been offered decent rates for all loans and credit cards with them. My checking and savings accounts earn interest each month. I highly recommend Navy Federal Credit Union.
I have a secondary account with Wells Fargo. I enjoy banking here, but Wells Fargo does not have a branch close to where I work. I have a savings account with them. The savings account requires no minimum balance and has no monthly fees. I do not earn interest on the account. The account is very basic but they still treat me with respect when I do manage to go to one of their branches. The bank tellers and customer service representatives are always friendly and polite. I have never had any issues with this bank, and would gladly recommend it to anyone. If they had more locations nearby, I would do all of my banking with them.
I have banked with SunTrust Bank for 6 years. When I first opened my checking account there, I was offered free checks and a free savings account. I took advantage of both offers. I felt as if I was a valued member of the bank. There were no minimum balance requirements and no fees for either account. After being a valued member for 3 years, I was offered a credit card from SunTrust Bank. It had a high credit limit and a very low APR rate. I accepted the offer. I discovered that I received points for every purchase made with my credit card, and started using the card on a routine basis. After carrying over a high balance, I received a letter in the mail telling me that they were raising my interest rate. My rate went up to almost 30% with no explanation. I called customer service and was told that there was nothing they could do about it. I stayed with SunTrust Bank, because they have locations that are convenient to me and they always had such good customer service besides this one issue. A month later I received another letter in the mail telling me that I would have to meet a balance requirement in both accounts or there would be fees charged monthly. I am now looking for another bank to do business with so I can close these accounts.
