I work in a college town and had a hard time securing a loan for school and so I decided to do some shopping around for a bank that I could get checking, loan help, and savings. I decided on RBC Bank because they had some branches near my parents in Georgia. I have had a great experience with them so far and my checking is very much hassle free. I would recommend them highly to any of my college friends that just need simple checking and savings with a bank. This also has made it easy to call home for money and my parents can simply make a deposit at their local branch.
I have been with BBVA Compass when they were just Compass Bank here in Birmingham. I have kept all my savings and checking accounts with them just because it is easier to not change and because they have never given me a reason to changes services to another bank. They have been very routine in terms of what I need as a customer. There are really no bells or whistles here, but I must say that I did inquire about a car loan once and their rates seemed to be higher than surrounding banks I called. For the most basic of services that I could ever need they would be a definite recommendation, but for more detailed needs like a mortgage or car loan I would go to a bigger bank for assistance.
I am a Georgia boy by heart and have always done my business with SunTrust. However, I have not been local to Georgia as of late and miss their customer service. I really wish I had a branch near me. All throughout college I had an account with SunTrust and I always remember the people being so friendly and courteous to my requests for help. My dad also has a business account with them and swears by their service. He has been with them and still has his commercial business accounts with them. I recommend them highly for anyone that has basic checking or savings needs.
I have been with Fifth Third Bank for about two years now and we only have one of our car loans with them. They are not local to my wife and I have to admit they have been somewhat easy to work with, but a little archaic in regards to their customer service. I am not a fan of their online resources for car payment, we are still sending payments through mail with a check. I prefer to pay online now since I pay all my other bills online. I have only had to call them for coupons on a few occasions, but so far they have been pretty routine to work with.
I have had my mortgage with Chase for about the past 2 years and they have been the best mortgage servicer I have ever had. Their online services for customer accounts are very easy to navigate and keep my mortgage information balanced from escrow to principal amounts. I love the fact that I have only had to call them a handful of times for any questions over the past 2 years and I have never been made. While I do not have traditional bank services with them, I am glad my mortgage is with them. They are very organized and it shows. I only hope that my loan does not get transferred to another bank.
I was with Bank of America before Wells Fargo came to my town a few years ago. I can tell you that they were great at times and awful in others. They were always very tech savvy and I could access many useful services for checking online and through apps on my iPhone. However, they did not value me as a customer and their customer service was poor. I felt like I always got the run around whenever I had a question for someone. I absolutely loved their checking features though. I would simply take pictures of my checks for deposit and this made banking so simple for me with such a busy schedule. They are not a very traditional company and there is no lost love to have my business somewhere else. I would not recommend them to others.
I was with Wachovia Bank before Wells Fargo took over them a few years ago. I can tell you that they have been nothing short of great with all their checking features and easy access to so many branches in my town. This makes it very easy for someone my age to get in the door to see someone face to face to answer my questions. I am just of the sorts that I trust someone that is in front of me, instead of automated help over the phone or online. They are a very traditional company and I have loved having them have my business. I would recommend them to others without any reservation.
My wife and I have been with Ally Bank for almost 2 years now. We use Ally Bank's online checking and savings services to supplement our primary bank accounts with Regions Bank. I absolutely give Ally Bank top marks for their customer service and ease of use as a bank. I cannot complain with how easy they are to use and that they are 'always open', since they are online. I have an online checking account to help me out with business transactions so that my bills do not get mixed in with my personal checking and it has been super-efficient. I also have an Ally debit card and I prefer to do most of my business with it. I have to admit that all my transactions show up in my Ally transaction log fairly quickly and I am a very satisfied customer.
