I have been an automobile insurance client with Allstate for over thirty years. I originally chose Allstate because my agent was a personal friend of mine. During the time that I had my first agent - I have had three in total - I always received excellent service in every way. I was able to call my agent anytime and ask for the names of Allstate preferred automotive service providers for both body work and mechanical work. Also, my rates were always either competitive with the current market or below the market average. My first car was demolished by a drunk driver. I reported the incident to Allstate and they had a check for the full amount in the mail to me within ten days. I must be honest. I have continued with Allstate at this point because my long relationship gives me several discounts and my premium is extremely inexpensive. The customer service, however, has changed a great deal. I feel the change in agents has everything to do with the service I receive. It is no longer personal in any respect. There is little communication if any and my last two agents have claimed that Allstate does not provide the names of automotive service providers to its clients. If it were not for the low premium and my age, I probably would not continue with Allstate.
Bank of the West in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, California is a super friendly bank. Everybody knows my name and I know everybody. I often find myself doing business in their neck of the woods and they are certainly convenient. I have a moderate savings account and checking account with them so that I may do business with the local area merchants. There are never long lines or long waiting times. If I have questions or need special services I am usually taken care of in under five minutes. I have been with Bank of the West, San Fernando Valley branch for about two years and I have never had a problem of any kind. I highly recommend them, especially if you are a senior such as myself and you wish to stay invested in instruments that are of interest to seniors - CD's, etc.
Wells Fargo bank is not a friendly neighborhood bank. I only use Wells Fargo bank for my heavy-hitter financial needs; Wells Fargo bank has always handled my home mortgages and any other long term financial transactions. It has taken a number of years to build a comfortable working relationship with them. I do not find their personnel to be trained in personalized service. Rather, they are highly organized, knowledgeable number crunchers. I have yet, over a period of twenty years, to find a single error on any paperwork or statements of record that they generate to me. You won't get any bargains at Wells Fargo bank; you will get accountability, dependability, and organization.
Bank of America has not been a good bank for me. I have found their records keeping to be sloppy. Their customer service is slow and impersonal; I have been unable to develop any personal relationships with anyone who works at my branch. There are far too many fees for every little thing. The employees at the windows are not well trained and are very slow, and the lines are very long and this includes in the customer service area when waiting for a specialist. There is no guard posted by the Versateller unit. What bothers me the most is that the fees are raised on my checking and the rules are changed far too often.
