I have been with Desert Schools since 2004. The two major products that I have had with them are personal checking and savings accounts. Everyone that I have ever dealt with there, in person and over the phone has just been tremendous! All the employees are courteous, helpful and highly professional. The integrity of Desert Schools is by far their biggest asset and feature. There will never be a hidden fee, or a frivolous charge, everything is laid out for you in the beginning of your membership. I think the best feature that they have is the amount of locations that they have. They have major branches in various food stores, Walmart, etc. They even have branches that open until 9 p.m. and one that I use frequently on Sundays! This is a great credit union to be a member of.
I just finished a very long home claim with All State. This was the first claim that I have ever gone through, and things went incredibly smooth. I live in Arizona and in October of 2010 we had a massive hail storm that just demolished everyone's roof and their cars. The state funded insurance companies with a settlement that was just an outrageous amount, but in order to get that funding, you had to go through the red tape. Well, I did (which wasn't red tape at all) and got a new roof on my house, a new cool deck on my pool and a new A/C unit. All of that for a deductible payment. I was shocked. The hardest part was waiting on the bank and the escrow checks. Anyway, All State should be highly recommended! They are truly professional!
Several years ago I was using State Farm insurance in Phoenix, AZ. I was financing a car at the time and was required to pay full coverage. Everything was going fine with this company until one night I was in a terrible accident. I was playing designated driver for a small bachelor party and was in the process of playing taxi driver for my 3 intoxicated passengers. We were hit by a drunk driver and my car was a total loss. Each one of my passengers had unopened 'night caps' in their possession at the time. State Farm was pretty diligent in getting things situated for me (rental car, insurance appraiser, check for total loss etc.), but when everything was said an done, they cancelled my insurance (without explanation) and wouldn't allow me to get another policy with them. All without explanation. (I'm still scratching my head). It leads me to believe that they are just after the almighty dollar and don't really care about their customers.
I have been with Chase bank off and on for the past 15 years and I would have to say that have treated me more than fairly. Chase has a great offering in the Chase Total Checking package. I have my salary deposited into my account every pay period and that makes it a free checking account. I have been with other banks during this time period, but have always returned to Chase. The reason for this is because other banks have now implemented mandatory monthly fees with their checking accounts. I have never had a problem with Chase. As long as they keep these features intact, I will stay.
I've been with Wells Fargo for about 6 years now and I have to say that it has been the most pathetic banking experience I have ever (or will ever) have. I really cannot wait any longer to get my accounts out of there and into an institution that doesn't treat me like a bag or a number. They are truly pathetic. The first sign of their immediate decline was the fact that I went from a free checking to an account scheme that billed me $5.99 a month. When called about this, they stated that I had received all of the disclosure information in the mail and that my checking account had moved to a pay account system. The disclosure was of course (just like a credit card statement), it was 3 pages long and you needed a Finance degree to read through it. Why can't they just state crap like that in simple, easy to read terms? Pathetic. Anyway, Wells Fargo is now gone for me, I will never bank with them again. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
