No credit card needed
I really love this card. I just applied for it when I applied for my Costco membership. The reasons I love this card: It is accepted almost everywhere. It has a great rewards points system, even though people without the best credit are eligible to use it. There is no annual fee, which is always a bonus. Also, the online web payment system is very easy to use and I like it much more than the systems I have used for other cards. The final reason I love this card is that it is possible to get a very high credit limit even though I am just starting out building my credit.
Signing up for this savings account was very, very simple. I just went into the bank and asked for one. They were very helpful to me even though I am young and probably silly to them. The interest rate is very low, but the account is free so I'm not complaining. The best part of this account is that I can easily transfer between it and my checking, even using a mobile app. Also, there is no minimum deposit or anything like that. This is by far the simplest, easiest way to have a savings account, in my opinion.
I did not like having an Amazon Store Card. First, the benefits: extremely convenient, lots of credit was given to me even though I don't have a lot of money to spend all at once, and the instant savings when I signed up was nice too. However, this card was confusing during the checkout process. It was unclear during purchases whether the money was going on this card or my other Amazon rewards card. I ended up paying $30 in interest because I accidentally put a small purchase on this card and didn't realize it. I'm not saying it wasn't my fault, but it made me sad and was more than the instant savings I got in the first place. There is no real benefit to having this card unless you want to spend a lot of money you don't have.
I love saving 5% every time I go to Target. This card does really feel like free money. When I worked at Target, it was nice to have 5% on top of my already 10% employee discount. However, even 5% makes a difference. Using this card is easy, and getting 5% off instantly for each purchase is easier than keeping track of the complicated rewards systems that other store credit cards use. However, as with any store card, opening a new credit card lowered my credit rating. I would not recommend this card if you are planning to get any loans, buy a home, etc. in the next year or so, because the 5% discount is really not worth the short-term damage to your credit score overall.
This card has been pretty good but I am not entirely happy with it. I have used it for over a year now. One of the best things is that it is a really cheap card to have. There is no annual fee, so I can save some money that way. Also I like getting the rewards points, although there is not usually a lot of stuff I want to buy at Cabela's. It is nice to save up the points and spend them on gifts during Christmas time. When I signed up for this card I wasn't able to get very much credit, but that is probably because I am still just a student. Sometimes I come close to going over my amount so I have to be careful. The security on this card is good too. Once I made a rather large purchase, and I received a phone call almost immediately to make sure that no one had stolen my card and used it. Using this card makes me feel very secure!
I got this credit card because I make enough Amazon purchases that it seemed worthwhile. I like the 3-2-1 rewards points system because everything I buy earns *something* even if some purchases are worth more rewards than others. I especially like using this card for purchasing my textbooks. Unfortunately I was not given very much credit at first, and I can not fit all of my monthly bills on this card at the same time... raising my limit has proved difficult and Amazon has been reluctant to do so. I guess it makes sense since I am a student and don't have much income, but $400 is really an incredibly low limit, no matter who you are.
I have not needed to do any problem resolution yet, so my rating on that point doesn't mean much. But I expect it would be 5-star, just like everything else about this bank. Wells Fargo offers the best interests rates I can find for student loans... When you are borrowing 10-15K every year, a few percentage points can mean a lot! Student loans can feel overwhelming, but since I know I have found the best deal here, I can rest easy. And of course, whenever I walk into this bank I feel welcome. Someone is always waiting to help me, and they have good coffee too!
Whenever I go into the bank I am always greeted with a smile and treated with respect. I'm not good with numbers and tend to have a lot of banking issues... but the people at US Bank take it all in stride. I use US Bank for my student loans, and although my interest rates aren't as low as they could be at Wells Fargo, I feel much more comfortable sticking with a bank I have been with for years. It is also very nice that I can use my university ID to access my account at ATMs on campus. It is little conveniences like that which make me happy to continue using US Bank.
