My loan officer, Donna Nold, was kind and helpful. As a single person, rather than a couple, applying for a loan, I was a little nervous. It was my first home purchase and I did not have the natural support of purchasing the home with another person, so felt a little "out there by myself". She asked for my documentation and helped with the process of getting it submitted, finding out what else I needed and putting the information together to be reviewed. She was helpful and supportive throughout the process and got me approved for a loan I could handle with enough money to purchase something that I would love for years to come. She made me feel like there was someone really working with me. She is highly recommended.
I wanted to find a bank to start my son a little savings account that had more of a “home town” feel. I also didn't want any fees or hassle. I just wanted a sweet, little bank that he could feel comfortable going into and bringing the contents of his piggy bank. Fidelity was perfect! It is small and the people who work there are so good with him! He brings his little money in and they treat him just the same as if he was bringing lots of money. He feels proud and they are helping to instill a love of saving for him! I think this bank would be great for both those with lots of money and those just starting out!
I have been with State Farm since I started driving 25 years ago. I have luckily not had to deal with them very often, but when I did, they have been great. There was a hail storm in New Orleans and I received damage. State Farm set up a warehouse where you basically drove in, they did an assessment and then handed you a check. It was fast, well coordinated and very fair. I have had the same experience with them anytime there has been a big “natural” issue resulting in vehicle damage. They show the same respect when it is an issue specifically to you as well. I have appreciated the ease of doing business with State Farm.
Last year, my hot water heater busted and flooded my house. I was, of course, very uneasy about what would happen. I know it can be difficult to get things taken care of in the manner they should. After speaking to people the first few days, I was handed over to a more local person, as my claim was large. This is where I got extra nervous! Much to my surprise, they were pleasant to deal with and fair. I tried my best to keep the cost as low as I could (found a well known but very reasonable contractor, bargain shopped for replacement items, etc) and she appreciated my effort and approved most of what I submitted. It was a good team effort between the two parties. I now recommend them to everyone!
About a year ago, I got very fed up with the charges banks were charging to have my money. I looked around and found that Capital One was one of the only banks that were still not charging a monthly fee. I switched my account to Capital One and I am glad! The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 is because they will return a payment, even if the money is there and just hasn't posted yet. I had a deposit that was going to clear at midnight and my mortgage payment came through after noontime. It charged me an overdraft fee and returned the payment, resulting in a fee from my mortgage company, as well as a late payment charge. I would have preferred them to pay it (or hold it) and even charge me the overdraft rather than returning it. But, that above and beyond banking service (which would give a 5). I am satisfied with my choice to switch!
I have been with Regions Bank for several years... since it took over Hibernia! I have always told everyone to bank with them, as they were easy to do business with. Within the last year or two, I have changed my opinion! The fees are absolutely killing me! I spoke to customer service about the fees, which I had not been receiving before and I was told that is what they do now and didn't seem to care that it was going to cause me to move all of my accounts. I had 4 accounts there. I am now down to one and I will be moving to a different bank just as soon as I can get my information together! All those great things you heard have passed, I am sad to report.
