With the volatility of the markets as of late, I was very close to pulling my money out of all banking institutions altogether and keeping it in investments in precious metals or even just cash. It was the helpful folks at North Coast Credit Union who restored my faith in modern banking and reassured me that my money was more than safe there and could not be affected by so many of the variables that you hear and read about lately. I was pleasantly surprised to see how easy it was to open and maintain an account with them, and everyone there was very helpful in seeing to it that I was familiar with the terms and rates and everything in the CD that I opened with them. I am happy and would recommend North Coast Credit Union to anybody.
I have a car loan through York County Federal Credit Union on the recommendation of my brother, who does absolutely all of his banking through them. I was kind of bewildered by the application process, but other than that, everything has been great with them. I understand that is a fairly common event being this is a credit union and not a bank - the application process for loans and other forms of credit can be kind of different. Regardless, the banker who I dealt with made it very easy to understand and was a pleasure to work with. I am clear on all of the terms of my car loan and know who to contact if I have a question. I like this credit union very much.
It's hard for me to say this is the best credit union with whom I have ever done business, as I am a business owner and I have done business with a great many credit unions in my time banking. I do not go to traditional banks anymore at all. Valley One Community Federal gave me service comparable to all of the other best credit unions I've worked with. In the end, it all comes down to friendliness of staff, ease of accessibility of money, absence or fair explanation of applied fees, and terms and conditions like interest rates. Valley One Community Federal was right where I expected them to be on all of the above items. I am a happy customer with them, and I would give my recommendation to others looking for a similar service.
Their slogan is 'people helping people', so I figured I would check them out because my situation is kind of unique. I inherited some money and didn't want to let it rot in a 'big bank' savings account at a low rate of interest. This caused me to research credit unions instead of banks and I ended up sitting down with a banker at Texas Telcom. They were very helpful in explaining the maturity rates of CD's and presented this as the most attractive option to help my money grow. I could tell they were operating with my best interests at heart and didn't care so much if they ended up with my money in their account, they just wanted to make sure I was familiar and understood the terms of what they were proposing. I had a great conversation with the banker there and ended up opening my CD on the same day. I was very pleased with the entire experience.
I am absolutely thrilled with the experiences that I have had while being a customer and having a checking account with Webster Bank. Their staff is the most patient and understanding I have ever dealt with. They are great at predicting issues I might have and recommending products and services tailored to my unique banking experience. They understand that my money is extremely important to me and their security reflects this. They also make my money very easy to access and transfer, and they recently implemented a sophisticated online banking system that works very well, even when I access it through my mobile device's browser. I wish my money was available at other ATMs besides Webster's, but that's the only real complaint I can think of. I am very happy as a customer of Webster bank!
I wasn't sure if this credit union would be on WalletHub, because they are a smaller outfit. I am glad they are, so I can share my experience. This was the first credit union through whom I had a car loan. They set me up with a very good interest rate despite my low credit score (at the time). Since then, my credit score is great thanks to timely payments and Audubon taking a chance on me. I've been so happy with the terms and the rates of my loan, and the people and staff at the credit union, that I'm going to move my personal checking and business checking account over to Audubon, too. I'm thrilled with the way they've handled this loan and I couldn't be happier to write them a check every month for my payment. They come very highly recommended from me.
My first non-big-bank checking account that I opened was through Johnson City Federal Credit Union. I am writing this review comparing them to the banks that I have worked with before that, and the banks and credit unions that I have worked with since. In terms of fair terms on my account, good customer service, no fees (or few fees that make sense), branch availability and accessibility, and interest rates, Johnson City Federal Credit Union was the best credit union that I have ever dealt with. My time holding a checking account with Johnson City was a pleasure because it was so easy. If I had one complaint, it was that their online interface for online banking was confusing to me right away. But as I got used to it, this was not a problem either. I stand behind this credit union and recommend them to others.
I'm a fairly young guy but I kept being prodded by my loved ones to look into life insurance for my family in case something bad were to happen. I did a quick Google search and that led me to Independence Blue Cross. I signed up with them after two fairly fast meetings. My agent could sense my apprehension at the whole process and did her best to make me feel comfortable with the idea, reassuring me that this was something that was going to benefit my family. Since I hadn't looked into this before, I had no idea what the rates for something like this would be. I was very pleasantly surprised that the peace of mind of putting life insurance into place for my family was actually quite a bit cheaper than I had assumed it would be. I am very happy I made the decision to go with IBC on this. Recommended!
Avanti is absolutely the best and safest place I've put my money, ever. I have a business checking account through them because I wanted to keep my business finances out of a traditional 'big bank'. Avanti was local, and one meeting with them and I was all set up with my checking account and instructions on online banking and the like. They were so helpful in getting me all set up and in clearly demonstrating the difference between them as a credit union and the normal, traditional banks. I put my money into an account with them and I haven't looked back because it's effortless and very easy to see why many people are opting to go with credit unions in lieu of the traditional style of banking. I am very happy with Avanti!
I am more or less happy with the insurance that I have through Landmark. The terms that I was given were a bit unclear and there was recently an issue with spoilage that I found, unfortunately, was not covered. This didn't ruin my business, thankfully, but it was a minor annoyance and something that I thought was covered. The responsibility rested with me as the consumer, so I can't fault them too bad for this. Other issues I've had have been resolved satisfactorily and promptly. My agent is helpful and demonstrative of her knowledge whenever I have a question. My rates and premium is, I feel, fair, and I will continue doing business with Landmark for this reason.
I hadn't thought of going to a credit union for a car loan, but instead associated the credit union 'fad' with checking and savings accounts, low rates, a lot of flexibility when it comes to terms and conditions, good customer service, and a small-town feel. I was wrong to think like this, as they are very good in issuing terms for a car loan as well! They made the process very easy for me and it was a pleasure to work with HEMA Federal Credit Union. I was apprehensive at giving my information to a credit union rather than a big bank, but they assured me they were legitimate and I had no fears after working with them for just a short period of time. Plus, the interest rate they got me was fabulous. Very highly recommended!
I went with Lakes Federal Credit Union after the recommendation of a friend of mine, who has been an account holder with them since he had opened his first checking account. He touted the merits of credit unions over banks, and particularly this credit union for their fair terms, high yield interest rates on savings accounts, easy link between checking and savings, and lack of fees. It didn't take long to convince me to move my money from a big box bank over to this institution, as I was fed up with inaccessible funds, and penalties and fees when I was able to access the funds. They made the transfer of my money and my initial deposit very painless and easy. I appreciated this and will recommend them to anyone in the area. Great credit union!
Lakeside Credit Union was recommended by a friend who was curious as to why my bank was charging so many fees. In many cases, I was getting fees just to obtain or move my own money around between accounts. I figured that was just part of the process until I signed up with a savings and checking account through Lakeside. This has honestly changed the way I manage my money. No longer do I feel like I'm bound by so many restrictions in my finances. They are so great in how much freedom they allow between account balances to transfers to waivers of fees. Their staff at their branch is knowledgeable and has always gone out of their way to help me. I am confident in rating them five stars in all of the above categories and I would recommend this credit union very highly.
I found myself in a situation where I needed a car loan very quickly – the car I was driving unexpectedly quit working and left me without transportation. I didn't have good credit, so I was torn between looking online at classified ads for a cheap car to get me by in the meantime and trying my luck with very little credit. Calusa was great to me and arranged a collateral system that overlooked my lack of credit and felt very fair. I was so happy that they were able to be creative in financing my car despite the fact that I hadn't had a whole lot of experience. I rated the application process with four stars, just because it took a while since my situation was a little different. Other than that, I was so happy with the person who helped me and the entire experience as a whole. A really great banking experience.
I dealt with an agent at Hay Creek for the first time last winter when I needed to ensure a vehicle for my son. They presented me with an attractive and affordable rate, considering his lack of driving experience. They didn't factor in a lot of things that I have always found silly, such as grades in school and things like that. Because of this, they were able to present us with a rate that I was comfortable signing up for right away. My son has not had any claims, fortunately, so I can't speak to that part of this company at this time. However, the follow-up done by the agent we worked with leads me to believe this would be a painless experience also. They are very helpful and patient with explaining the terms of their insurance to someone who has never had insurance before, like my son. I would recommend Hay Creek for these reasons!
I was trying to obtain a loan through my local county to open a business. This loan required a certain amount of personal capital that I did not have, and I was told to apply for an unsecured personal cash loan through Muncie Federal Credit Union. I wasn't optimistic about this as I had very little cash to inject into the business myself, but they took into account my business plan and credit score and very little else when determining my eligibility for this loan. Because of Muncie Federal, I was able to obtain this loan, so I was able to pursue the county loan and establish my business. I am so happy that they were able to do this in-house and weren't bound by so many regulations at the committee level for someone who, on paper, isn't worth a whole lot of money. I would recommend them very highly to anyone in a similar position as me. See what they can do for you, they sure helped me out a lot.
This credit union is the only thing that I miss about living in Salt Lake City! It was my first ever 'bank' or credit union and it is the credit union by which I compare every other place I've kept my money in since then. They had fairly standard policies regarding the money in my checking account, but the most refreshing thing was the absence of fees. These days there are fees for everything but I don't recall being charged a fee for absolutely anything I did with Deseret. The one time I lost my checks and had an issue with that, it was resolved promptly and with an appropriate amount of concern and empathy. My money didn't grow very fast because I didn't keep a very high balance, but I understand their interest rates are very fair also. I would definitely recommend Deseret Credit Union if you have a chance to do business with them.
The strength of Oregon Pioneer Federal Credit Union is the fact that they are unremarkable. There is nothing that I get out of this credit union that I haven't gotten out of credit unions in the past, but that being said, it is still head and shoulders above any traditional 'bank' with whom I have had an account. To have my money safe and secure and not have to worry about it makes it great to deal with this credit union. I don't get sales pitches from them, their staff is fast and friendly, and my account is accessible online. They have embraced technology to the point where I always know what my account status is, and they make it easy to follow up with my money and my financial situation without being too present in the process. They're a very empowering and great credit union, and I would highly recommend them.
For the most part, I was extremely happy with EIC Insurance (Elizabethtown Insurance Company). There was one small incident where I thought my coverage was for more than what it was. This is because on two pages of the disclosure form, different information was stated. For this reason, I thought I had more coverage than what I did, and this made me a little nervous. I should have known better because the rate I was getting made way more sense that it was for the lower amount rather than the higher amount. All it took was a quick call to their customer service and this was resolved promptly and efficiently. For this I was very happy and I'm glad I was able to remain their customer because they really do treat customers well.
A credit union tailored to teachers? Amazing! Actually it's not EXCLUSIVELY for teachers but there are many benefits to someone in that profession exploring a checking account or any of the other services provided by CORE Federal. I have long ago given up placing my money in a traditional bank just because customers tend to get lost in the shuffle of big every day business. However, this is not just a normal credit union - at least not in my personal experience. I say this because their customer service is over and above anything I've ever experienced in any sort of money/banking/lending institution. They are so great to work with and make banking easy and not stressful at all. I would recommend them not just to teachers but check them out no matter what you do. I stand by them very strongly!
Community Bank afforded me the opportunity to live in my own house for the very first time, and I will never forget that. Rather than looking at my credit history, they explained how they placed a lot of emphasis on the 'character' of the borrower, and for this reason, I was given a loan for my first home that I still own today. I gave them five stars on every aspect of my mortgage banking except for clear disclosures - my interest rate was not consistent amongst all of my closing documents which caused a little bit of a hassle. Overall, it was a painless experience and anyone in this area would do well to give them a call. They may be able to give you better rates or at the very least, if you're at the end of your rope trying to get a mortgage loan, they might be able to help you!
I lived in New Jersey for a time (followed a girl out there) and she recommended that I opened a checking account at her credit union. The relationship didn't work out, but the worst part about that was having to move my money out of this wonderful credit union. Very clear disclosures, no hassle in the application process, friendly bankers and tellers, just an overall great credit union. They would let me know about other services and products they offered but it never got to be pushy. They understood the function their credit union provided me with and did not go out of their way to push too many other things on me. That is important in this day and age. I got to be great friends with a few of the tellers before I left New Jersey. Just a great, small-town feeling, take-care-of-the-customer credit union. You can't go wrong.
Since Obamacare has gotten so much press, I have preemptively decided to obtain health care coverage independently of my employer. Recently my asthma has got out of control, and I was looking for insurance that would not dramatically increase my rates due to this preexisting condition. Univera has an asthma indicator that allowed me to see what my rate would be had I selected that and if I did not claim to have it. This had no effect on my rate! Since I've had to go to the doctor a lot lately, it was very important to me that this did not dramatically factor into my monthly rate. No other health insurance company has matched this before – it always goes way up. I appreciate this and can recommend them to anyone with a similar condition. Give them a try. You might see that your insurance is still relatively inexpensive. Their customer service is very helpful also!
Solarity is a credit union whose customer service I am, unfortunately, all too familiar with. You see, my account was compromised (absolutely NOT the fault of Solarity, someone compromised my personal account details and withdrew money after 'stealing' my identity). Until then, I was happy with Solarity as it was a typical run of the mill savings account, not remarkable. I was a happy customer. But when this happened, seeing how they resolved this issue was what cemented them in my mind. They focused on me just relaxing and getting out of the picture as they collected all the relevant information. The investigation was complete and the money was back in my account within two weeks, with me given the option by the police to press charges (who were also involved thanks to Solarity). I feel so safe with my money here. Thank you so much!
Nationwide's commercials alerted me to the fact that they now sell motorcycle insurance. I called my local agent to see about the terms and monthly cost of this insurance to me. I was very happy first of all with the fact that my agent provided me with all of the necessary information about the levels of insurance protection they could offer, but did NOT try to oversell me on more insurance than what I needed. I was aware I needed insurance of course but I didn't realize how inexpensive it was. My agent helped make the experience very easy and painless and now I have great peace of mind whenever I am out riding, knowing I have just the right amount of coverage. Not too little but thankfully for my wallet not too much insurance, either.
When I found myself stationed in Durham for six months, I wanted an easy place to keep my money rather than in my account back home. BCBSNC provided me with the opportunity to open a checking account VERY quickly, with minimal hassle. Being in North Carolina, they had understood my situation and worked with those in my situation before. They understood I would not be a lifelong customer but treated me with the same respect as any other customer. The terms of the checking account were very normal and not noteworthy, but they went out of their way to make me feel like a valued customer when they really didn't have to. I regretted when I had to close my account because they were such a pleasure to deal with.
After moving to Georgia and renting for a while, my girlfriend and I were ready to buy our first property. We had decided to go with a credit union rather than a bank in order to obtain this mortgage. We had seen an ad for Savannah Federal Credit Union and made an appointment. They had compiled our financial information and had accepted our loan request within one week. We had bought a house before and we were used to a much longer waiting period. The loan officer with whom we dealt was very knowledgeable and I am confident he got us the best interest rate possible. I'm very happy with our rate and our current terms and I would recommend this credit union to anyone in the Savannah area who is looking to obtain a mortgage but doesn't want to go through a bank.
I will say this the best way I know how: Ibew Community Federal Credit Union changed my life for the better, and I don't know where I would be without them. When the first mortgage I had on my home fell through (with a shady local bank), I was facing the prospect of foreclosure. I obtained a mortgage with Ibew Community by speaking with a loan officer over the phone. I am still in my home today, three years later, at a very nice interest rate and no fear that the bottom is going to drop out from underneath me again. They were so professional and courteous in establishing my mortgage with them. The only drawback was the application process, which seemed to take a very long time and required information that I did not have readily available. This was a small price to pay for the overall service provided by Ibew, and I would recommend them very highly!
Bay Area Credit Union handled all of my student loans when I was accepted into college in Ames, Iowa. I paid an adviser to gather information pertinent to what types of interest rates would be best, how this would benefit me in the long run, and what I would need to do to pay back this money. With regard to these stipulations, Bay Area Credit Union was the best by far. As they were not local, much of our business had to be done online. This did not impede their ability to clearly disclose what would happen. Since I didn't meet the requirements for any student grants, loans made up the bulk of how I paid for my education so you can see why it would be important to me to be able to trust who I went with. Bay Area Credit Union gave me great peace of mind and will not try to take advantage of you. Recommended!
I went to school in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and needed to find a credit union because of the poor experience I have had with banks in the past. Much of my purchasing is being done with credit cards while I am in school, but in order to pay those cards off, I obviously need some sort of cash balance somewhere. I didn't need a checking account, and it was unique to my situation to need a savings account but not need a checking account. UW Oshkosh Credit Union provided me with this option and made the entire process very easy. I am confident my money is in the right place and they have a lot of other goods and services as options for their customers too. I will leave my money here for a very long time! Great job guys!
Old Ocean helped me out with my Home Equity loan when none of the major banks in my area would do that. I was told by a family friend and adviser that I should be checking into credit unions rather than banks because of my unique situation. Still, no local credit unions were able to assist me with this due to my credit history. I located Old Ocean via a Google search and I have to say, they were absolutely amazing in helping me understand how this type of loan works. They covered all of the basics with me before they even determined my eligibility, which took them a lot of time to do (not a bad thing, it's great that they were willing to spend this much time with someone who might not have even ended up being a customer). In the end, they overlooked some of my credit history and let me open a CD with them as 'collateral' so that I could obtain my loan. Very creative and willing to work with me. I am so happy with them!
I obtained a surety bond from Shelter when I had to borrow against my home to start my own business. This allowed me to go through the process with a lot more peace of mind – if something were to fail or if a customer were to sue me for whatever reason, not only did insurance cover me but having this additional measure of security in this surety bond helped me to be absolutely positive I was guarded against anything bad happening to me or my home. The agent who assisted me actually met me at my business rather than asking me to drive to her office. The process of a surety was foreign to me at first but by the time we had finished meeting, I was not only totally confident that this was something I should do for myself and my business, but I was ready to sign up. The rates were affordable and the peace of mind they were able to offer me is priceless.
When I went to college in Ames I needed a checking account under the terms that I would not be leaving this account open past college, when I moved back home to Minnesota. I just needed a place to store my money that would allow it to remain easily accessible via writing checks or my debit card (for everyday college purchases). The interest rate wasn't important to me, but I didn't want to go with a big box bank. A friend suggested a credit union, and particularly, North Iowa Community. I visited their branch in person and sat down with someone who had me set up with a fee-free checking account in minutes. No hassle, no extraneous questions. He helped me to set up my account and I had access to my money 24/7 via a debit card. He also explained how credit unions are better for the consumer than banks. My experience I feel is a common one and makes this a highly recommendable credit union.
I obtained liability insurance at the recommendation of my attorney as I opened my coffee shop. He explained to me that I needed this to prevent people from suing me to take my building. For this reason, I was seeking out someone to provide me with this insurance but it wasn't clear to me exactly how this would function in terms of my business. The representative I spoke with at Arthur Gallagher was able to provide me with this information and more – by the time I was done speaking with him I had all of the information I needed to go ahead with this insurance and it was much less expensive than I thought it would be. This was great news as I had allocated a lot of money towards insurance in my business plan and actually ended up ahead of budget. Their customer service and my assigned representative were very helpful, and they were like I said right in my price range. The only thing that provided me with some trouble was the application process, which was really long and asked for some information that might not have been relevant. Otherwise, they were great. Highly recommended!
Centris Credit Union provided me with a credit card when almost no one else would, so that kind of set a precedent and this review might praise them a little more highly than necessary, but they were so helpful and helped me out in a time where I needed it very much. They did ask a lot of questions but there was nothing that I didn't expect – pay stubs were required and things like that, but I had come to expect that. Their customer service was great on following up with commitments and making it in such a way that I was comfortable sharing that information, especially since Centris was not a local company and I could not just drive to a brick and mortar store and provide this information. The terms of the card were clear and easy to use. My interest rate wasn't insanely high, and I was not given an annual fee. This helped me build up some credit so that I could take this and pursue a loan which eventually helped me to get my own business off of the ground. Thanks to Centris! I don't know how I could have done it without them. Very highly recommended!
I obtained a credit card from Pegasus that was linked to Amazon.com and my first purchase of 25 dollars or more would get me a free Amazon gift card worth $50. There was no annual fee, so I signed up, made my purchase, and as promised the Amazon card was deposited into my account. I felt bad closing it right away, so I used it for a few months but eventually had to cancel it. When I called and explained the situation, they were very understanding and did not put the hard sell on me to try to retain me as a customer once they realized why I had signed up. The woman I spoke with on the phone was very nice and welcomed me back at any time. The terms of the credit card were fairly straightforward but I gave them five stars and would recommend them because of their helpful customer service and the fact they don't play any 'gotcha' games with their promotional offers. A great and very helpful credit union!
I went through Glenview Credit Union to obtain car loans for some fleet vehicles for my business. I did this on the recommendation of someone that I knew in Illinois who works closely with me and my business. Most of our business does not take place in Illinois, but in Minnesota. I was hesitant to go to Glenview for this reason. It didn't seem to make sense to be writing loan payment checks to an establishment in Illinois. Thankfully, the process was easy and it was very easy to tell why I was recommended this institution. They were able to work with me over the phone and through email to obtain a very attractive rate, and the rate and terms were made even better by the fact that I was obtaining financing on such a large amount of vehicles. I did not encounter any local credit union that was willing to work with me and take into account the amount of vehicles I was financing. Since they were flexible, I will stay with Glenview and recommend them to anyone who is in a similar situation as me.
This was a bank that was recommended to me by radio host Dave Ramsey. He has worked with them in the past and in spite of any advertising agreements that may have led to his endorsement, I don't feel bad at all about going to them. They are headquartered in a different state, but since I do all of my money transactions online and they send me statements by email, it’s no problem having my money that far away from me, physically. It is worth it, if that means having it tied up in a reputable and recommended credit union, rather than one of the many big box local bank chains that are in closer proximity to where I live. Their disclosures were very clear and they make it easy to get in touch with someone by phone if need be. I would recommend them very highly as this is kind of a unique period of time in my life and it's great to know that my money is safe and easily accessible thanks to Class Act.
The type of insurance I actually took out from Continental was business insurance. I went through them to insure a coffee shop that I opened up in my town in Minnesota. Why would I go through this provider for insurance even though it was all online? Well, despite not having a local provider, they had an impressive online presence and my claims adjuster and Continental representative made that clear the first day she called me. She reiterated they were there to help me and despite not having a local presence, she was confident they could do everything my local providers around the area could do, and even more. Well, I've been with them for a few months now and I can safely say she was right. They have made every part of the process very easy. I haven't had to make a claim yet, thank God, but just the peace of mind of knowing that I am covered by a company that understands my needs and level of insurance protection makes it a lot easier to sleep at night. I would recommend them very highly.
After recently being laid off from my job, I was looking into opening a coffee shop in my town. I was turned down by several banks due to my poor credit and the fact that, obviously, I didn't have a job. Classic Credit was the one institution that didn't look at that so much as at the good faith of the borrower. They saw that I had a unique vision and a unique business plan, and set out to lend me money with the attitude of 'how can we make this work?' rather than 'this isn't going to work'. Thanks to them and their helpful customer service and unique lending perspective, I am now working on opening my own business. I obviously couldn't have done this with my own money and I am very grateful that I was recommended to this credit union for my loan. They come with my highest recommendation!
