I love Wells Fargo and would recommend them to anyone. I have my home mortgage through them and they have been wonderful. They have very competitive mortgage rates. The process of applying for and setting up the mortgage was made very easy by my assigned mortgage representative. The approval process was very fast. I love the website. It is very easy to use and has all of the information I might need about my mortgage. I can make and view payments, see the details of my escrow account, see when they review my account and any changes made, check how much of my payment goes to principal and how much to interest. Each time I schedule a payment, I can add a little extra and choose how to allot that amount. I have never had a problem with the website being unavailable when I need it. I always access it with my laptop, so I can't speak to any apps that may be available for smartphones. Overall, I have had a great experience with Wells Fargo. If I had to do it all again, I would absolutely choose them and wouldn't change a thing about them.
I was a customer of State Farm for several years. I had primarily chosen that company because it is the one my parents had always used, so it seemed to make sense. For a few years I didn't have any problems with them, although I felt that my rates were a little higher than they should have been. Then I was looking to make a change to my policy and spoke over the phone to my agent. I was trying to add my then-boyfriend and his car to my policy because he was moving in with me and we were trying to streamline our bills. He had gotten a DUI about 10 years prior to this (as a teenager). When my agent found that out, not only would he not add him and his car to my policy, he dropped me as a customer! Of course I tried to argue this because I didn't want to have to find another company. However, he said that with his history, who knows when my boyfriend might get drunk and drive my car. I had been planning on going up the chain at State Farm to complain about this and fight to get my policy back. However, I was so insulted that I decided I didn't want to be a customer anyway. We ended up getting good quotes from several other insurance companies and found a cheaper policy with comparable coverage. I know that this was a unique situation and not what most people would experience. However, as a result of this, I will never be a State Farm customer again and would never recommend them to anyone.
The Central Wisconsin Credit Union was one of the first credit unions that I had any experience with. I had originally been a member of Consolidated Community Credit Union, but then they merged with someone else and Central Wisconsin was the resulting company. I liked the credit union before and after the change. I started out just wanting to build some credit without having to worry about credit card debt, etc. The fees were cheap and I was very happy with the customer service. At the time, I really didn't do any banking or transactions online, so I can't speak to any online services they may provide now. I am no longer a customer because I moved out of state. However, I spent a few years with them and had no complaints at all.
I was originally a National City customer and became a PNC customer by default when they took over. So far my experience has been mostly good. I have had occasion to call customer service several times and I never have to wait on hold for long and have always had very helpful customer service representatives. One Saturday morning I received a call from PNC because they felt my card had suspicious activity on it. As it turned out, there were several charges from iTunes that were not mine – 5 charges totaling around $250. I have no idea how they knew those were fraudulent charges, but I was very happy they caught it! However, I have also had my mobile username deactivated once and my husband has had his deactivated twice. When we called to find out why, we were told that there were too many failed login attempts. It was annoying, but I'd rather have that happen than have someone hack into my account. The only negative thing I have to say about PNC is that there have been quite a few times that mobile access and/or online access have been down. Overall, I am very happy with PNC and I would choose them again.
I had American Family car insurance for about a year and a half. It ended up being a terrible experience for me. Initially, I did a lot of research when switching companies, and I thought I was making a good choice with American Family. I got a good rate and really liked the fact that they had local agents. It had a more personal feel than some of the other companies I considered and I thought I would get more individualized service from my local agent. Unfortunately, that was not at all how it was! I had a terrible time with my agent. He never returned my calls and if he eventually did, he did not help me with my questions or with changes I wanted to make. I put up with this for a couple of months and eventually it got so ridiculous that I had to switch companies. Interestingly, a few months after I left American Family, I received a call from a new local agent trying to get my business and offering me incentives to switch back. Apparently the company had gotten so many complaints about my former agent that he had been let go and they were trying to recover the customers he had lost. I was happy with my new company and did not switch back to them, but I did appreciate that they reached out and tried to make things right. It was unfortunate that my experience was ruined by one individual. It may be that American Family is a great company, but based on my experience, I will never return to them for my car insurance needs.
I have been with Nationwide for my car insurance for 3 years now. Previously I had been with 2 different other companies and have found Nationwide to be by far the best. The customer service is outstanding. You can manage your policy easily online, but I also have a local agent who I have met with in person who is always available to answer questions or make changes that I don't feel comfortable doing myself online. I have never had to make a claim, but when I've called with questions about possible claims, they've been very helpful and informative. My rates are good compared with other quotes I've gotten. I love the new disappearing deductible feature and opted in to that as soon as I learned about it. Overall I have had an excellent experience with Nationwide and regularly recommend them to family and friends. I think this will be my car insurance company for many years to come.
