If you do a lot of your clothes shopping at the Gap then their credit card will save you a good deal of money over time due to the accumulation of points. They also have special promotions and discounts throughout the year for card holders and that's not even mentioning the initial 15% off when you get the card. If you do seasonal shopping then that 15% could save you a lot on a new fall wardrobe. You do want to be careful to pay off your purchases monthly though as the interest rate is pretty high for this type of store card but still on par with other store cards such as J.C. Pennies and other similar stores.
This is one of the best credit cards I have ever had. If you are a Kroger shopper then this is a card you should have for sure. For the first 3 months you have the card you get a 25 cent savings on gas at the Kroger fuel center. On top of that they have a points system where you get various points if you buy Kroger produce and you also accumulate points for every dollar spent anywhere you use the card. Every 1000 points you get $5 in free groceries. It may not seem like much but you accumulate points very quickly if you use the card frequently and you can easily accumulate enough points to get one to two weeks worth of groceries a year, and in this economy every little bit helps out.
I have been with 1st Mariner Bank in Baltimore for the past 12 years and they have always been on top of customer service. I decided to open an account with them when a job was close to the Baltimore City branch and used them for paychecks. I have never once had any problems with my checking or savings account and the customer service is top notch. When I was going out of the country on vacation I got all my travelers checks through them and because I was a long standing customer they actually waived the 1% fee on the travelers checks which impressed me to no end. They may be a mid sized to large bank but they always have that small town feel about them and you can tell that the customer is a priority for them.
I have been with M&T Bank for several years now, originally I was with Provident Bank but they were bought out by M&T Bank. Overall M&T Bank does a good job but some of their policies are meant to make as much money as they can from their customers. I have caught them several times holding back deposits so they can bounce checks and get their bounced check fee of $38. This practice has really upset me and I have had numerous chats with customer service about it. Every time I have complained customer service has done a good job in taking care of me as a customer but it seems that M&T bank is really only looking after their bottom line. I wrote a check to someone that went into a branch to cash it and they were told unless they had an account with M&T that they would have to pay a $5 fee to cash the check. That is is just ridiculous and M&T Bank really needs to own up to these types of customer service blunders and stop them.
The Lord & Taylor Store Card is a great card if you do the majority of your shopping at their stores but to be honest they aren't offering a lot of incentive to even use their card with only a 15% initial discount for the first purchase of the day and no cash back incentives to be found. Other store credit cards like JC Penny's offer a more rounded incentive program to use their card and shop in their stores. The 25% interest rate is in line with other store cards but it's still high and should be a concern of any one that wants to use this card.
The Menard's Store Card is a typical store card where it doesn't offer very much to the average user unless they use the card to shop exclusively at Menard's.Many other store brand cards such as Kohl's or Target offer a better incentive. While Menard's will give you $10 off your first $100 and 1% cash back at cash stations this is really only a value to people who will do a lot of shopping at Menard's and with other store brands in competition and offering bigger discounts it's hard to give this card more than 2 stars. If they should offer more of a cash back incentive in the future then this will definitely be a much better value.
I own and operate a small business and the Staples card has been a real lifesaver in helping me keep the business running smoothly. I buy the majority of my supplies at staples and using the card not only gets me a 5% reward back on all purchases it also helps me to keep everything organized business wise with one easy to read monthly statement.. While the APR is higher than I generally like there isn't an annual card fee which evens it out some, I also pay the balance monthly so I don't typically have to worry too much about interest. The staples card is a no-brainer and it's use will grow with my business easily making sure I can keep on top of all my business needs while keeping all my records straight at the same time.
The Tire Kingdom Store Card is much like other cards in the automotive service industry like Merchants. These cards are great to have in case of an emergency like your car breaking down unexpectedly because on larger purchases they usually give you 6-12 months to pay off the service without interest accruing. For every day type purchases it's better to use cash or another card as the Tire Kingdom Card and others like it have high interest rates attached to them. When you do find you are having car trouble and it looks like it could be costly having a Tire Kingdom card or one like it will definitely be helpful and for that reason I always suggest having a card like this as we all run into unexpected car problems now and again and they usually happen at the worst possible time financially.
I love this card. I am a frequent traveler to South East Asia, specifically Korea and I get great reward miles of 1 mile per dollar spent and double reward miles for trips to Korea. You automatically get started off with 15000 reward miles once you make your first purchase which is a big incentive if you are using the card specifically for travel miles. The rewards miles work with any Skyteam member such as Delta or Thai Air and are redeemable for upgrades and even free flights and flights to SEA can be very expensive so the miles really help out.. Another great thing about the card is there are no foreign transaction fees which every card has and that means my money goes farther when I am traveling abroad.
I've been using the Home Depot credit card for about 5 years now and it really comes in handy for the larger purchases and the 0% financing. Recently both our washer and dryer went up and when you get hit with a double wammy like that it can really drain your bank account but with the Home Depot card we were back in business in no time and we didn't have to worry about the interest on the purchase. The card really comes in handy when it comes to any home repair because you know you can get exactly what you need and you can pay for it monthly if need be or pay it off sooner if you can. Most credit cards are just a hassle and usually charge a hefty 22-24% interest if not more. Even on the small purchases the interest rate is only 17.9% with the home depot card. When it comes down to it I think this is one credit card that every homeowner should have in their wallet. When it comes to home emergencies you know you will be covered without spending too much money.
Like the others my initial reason for choosing the Capital One Cash Rewards card was for the 0% APR for the first year. But even afterwards the cash back on my purchases is a big incentive to use this card all the time. It's like getting a discount whenever you have to buy something. I have never had a complaint with billing or customer service, in fact I think Capital one has the best customer service of any credit card I have ever used. I also use this card extensively when I travel because they don't hit you with foreign transaction fees. While some people may not like the $39 yearly fee I don't mind at all. This is an up front fee and you know exactly what it's about, other credit cards hit you with random fees all the time leaving you guessing as to what you are actually paying for.
When I bought my first home I was really worried about all the paperwork I had to fill out and all the different things such as home insurance I had to purchase before the house could become mine. When I sat down with State Farm they walked me through the entire process letting me know exactly what I needed and not trying to oversell me on products I really didn't need. I was so impressed with Dave, my new agent, that I also turned over my construction liability insurance needs over to him because I knew I would be well taken care of. I actually felt like I was family and they were guiding me through the process for my own safety and not because they were an insurance company just looking to sell me another insurance plan.
I've been with Erie Insurance company since I got my drivers license at 16...I'm now 47 and for 31 years Erie Insurance has been the best car insurance I have ever heard of. While I have had very few claims over the years when I have had an issue they are right on top of it. Once I was hit by a car that ran a stop sign and this person lied and said I caused the accident. Erie listened to my side of the story, believed me to be credible and stood by me even through a civil trial brought by one of the passengers in the other car. Erie Car insurance is also less expensive than most other companies and the longer you have been with them, as long as your driving record is good, you will get periodic discounts. There is one caveat to Erie Insurance though; they are a very hard company to get into. They generally prefer to work through families rather than bringing in random people. So, it might not be easy to sign up with them. But, if you can, you will be assured to have great insurance that you will never have to worry about. Their customer service, whether working through your agent or calling their toll free number is impeccable. As strict as Erie is about applicants for their insurance they are just as strict with the agents they allow to sell their insurance. You will always get the answers you need and you will never get off the phone feeling unsure.
