Several years ago, something happened that led me to know I would be a Bank of America customer for life. My parents had planned a trip to Hawaii to celebrate their 30th anniversary, and my dad's 50th birthday was also very close to this date. For over one year, I and my brothers had made arrangements to surprise my dad on his 50th by the whole family showing up in Hawaii to celebrate with him. This was a very big deal to us, a once in a lifetime event to spend this time together on a magical trip. We each saved and planned for over a year to make this happen. Four months before the trip, it was time to buy the airline tickets. My brothers gave me their money and I proceeded to buy the airline tickets for them and myself through my BoA checking account. A short time later, the unthinkable happened, the airline I purchased the tickets through went bankrupt. My tickets were no longer valid and the airline was not responding. Nearly $2500 was gone. I was in a panic. I called BoA and explained the situation and tried to dispute the charge for services not rendered. BoA took care of it. They reversed the charge from my account and it stood. Their guarantee was a life saver. That was and still is a lot of money. I will never forget that BoA took care of me in this way. If it were any other bank, I'm not so sure they'd have done the same. So, that is why I am a BoA customer for life.
Upon buying my first home over a year ago, I was overwhelmed with the process and paperwork. One of the final steps was to find insurance for my first home. I was in a situation where I was under a deadline and obviously a financial crunch. I called 5 different insurance companies before finding Geico. I was able to speak with a “real” person, without a long wait time. The representative was accommodating with my situation. The application process was easy, which was such a relief during a stressful time. Additionally, they had much more reasonable than competitors. While I have not yet (and pray I never do) had to file a claim, I trust that the way I was treated upon signing up, will be the same should a claim ever arise. In the past, I have been quite the insurance shopper; however with Geico Home Insurance and their rates, I have not bothered to shop around at renewal time.
I have been with Mercury auto insurance off and on for the past 10+ years. I compare prices and shop for insurance, and while I have left Mercury to save a few dollars, I find myself always coming back. Mercury is easy to deal with, as I never have had to wait too long to speak with an agent when I have a question or concern. I am so confident in them that I recently switched a commercial auto policy to Mercury. I think I've shopped around enough to realize even if I could save a few dollars, the piece of mind I get with Mercury is well worth it!
I joined SDCCU a few years ago and my experience with them has been great. I first joined the credit union as an incentive to get a discount on a new car purchase. By joining, I saved $1000 off my purchase price. The application process was easy, I did it all online, at the car dealership. Since then, I have kept my account with SDCCU and have always had quick, courteous customer service. Every time I step into a branch there are a number of tellers waiting to help. I've never experienced those long, slow lines that are normal at other banks. Luckily, I have not run into any problems or issues for resolution, however based on my experiences so far, I am sure they would work to make any problem right. I am so happy I became a member of SDCCU.
