Webster bank in MA is one of the better banks in the area with plenty of locations and a myriad of saving accounts options. It seems to me that they have an option for anyone's needs. With the convenience of being able to open an account online and the fact that their ATMs are also plentiful in the area, accessing your money will never be a problem. My only gripe is the very very low interest rate of 0.02% for the most basic account, which let's be honest is basically and quite literally next to nothing. But if you have over 100k you can get an interest rate of 0.20% which I suppose is a bit better.
Mass Bay Credit Union is one of the better Credit Unions in the area and they offer exceptional customer service and extensive online banking options from your computer. Being able to open an account or apply for a loan from my computer is important to me and here they offer that. Their interest rates kind of suck at 0.05% though, so if you are looking for a return on your savings I would suggest looking elsewhere. If you just want a simple checking and savings account they will fit the bill. I have only been to the branch once but the tellers were fast and friendly and had me on my way rather quickly. Overall, I would suggest them if you need a place to directly deposit your paycheck.
I am not sure where to start with this Credit Union. Their web page is awful and even greets you with a popup, has many many missing links and is not updated in almost 2 months. Forget about opening an account online. Despite this I decided to go try them out. The staff had a snooty air as if they had something better to do. The branch itself didn't look very clean and their interest rates are average at best. The one good thing about them is that they are open to 6 pm a few days a week, but that cannot make up for failing in every other area. Don't do business here. There are plenty of better options for your credit union needs in the area.
I first noticed that Southern Mass Credit Union, located in Fairhaven Mass near the shopping centers, offered me a convenient location to make deposits when I was running errands. So I went home and tried to open an account online but I couldn’t. I am usually wary when a bank doesn't offer some sort of online application process in this day and age, but I went to the branch the following week and set up an account in less than half an hour thanks to the helpful staff. The savings accounts offer .20% annual interest which isn't that terrible. All and all, it's not that bad and I'm happy to be a member.
This is a great credit union serving the Fall River and surrounding areas. One good thing is that their minimum balance to start earning interest is very very low, only ten bucks at .10 APR, which is very good compared to some other credit unions around here. The downside is they offer no online signup or if they do it's not easily found on their website, but their staff is very friendly and attentive and make the process a breeze at their branches. So far I haven't encountered any problems with them and just have a chunk of cash with them earning interest for me.
BankFive is a small community bank chain in southern Mass. Their rates are not that great at $1,000 min in your account to earn a measly 0.05% in interest. Which to be fair is around average but there are better rates out there if you shop around. The branch closest to me is in a shady area. One would think a place people bring and take money from should feel at least somewhat safe. However the staff are all very nice and courteous. The application process is just as easy as anyplace else. Overall, an underwhelming bank and you should look elsewhere for any sort or long term savings.
They say in their numerous commercials that they can save you 15 percent off your current insurance plan. Well they certainly do live up to that claim. They saved me 20% off what I had currently as well as giving me comprehensive insurance. The man who I spoke to on the phone was very polite and easy going and made everything really easy for me, something that not every customer service representative at insurance companies does. I haven't been in an accident on this insurance so I'm not sure how well the claims process goes, but from everything else I have experienced it should not be that big of an issue I would imagine. Overall, I am happy with Geico and would recommend them.
I had an account here till I recently closed it. They charge you various outrageous fees, everything from actually talking to a teller, having low balances or receiving paper statements, Oh, you want to let that money sit in your account for awhile? Guess what? There's a fee for that as well. While the staff at my local branch was always nice the excessive fees made dealing with this bank not worth it at all to me. I suggest you run to any other bank or better yet a credit union in your area, you can find before dealing with Bank of America. They will bleed you dry.
I recently opened a spare savings account here even though their savings rate is nothing spectacular (0.100%). The process went very smoothly as I was able to complete the entire sign up process online, which of course is much more convenient than having to take time off from working and waiting in line to open an account. I still am waiting for the physical paper checks to come in the mail but I don't find this as a major issue since I will never use them. Overall, I'm completely satisfied and look forward to saving with this bank in the years to come.
I opened an account here a few months ago online after seeing a billboard advertising the benefits of opening an account with a Credit Union. Their site was very easy to navigate and the application process took me around 15 minutes to complete. I received my debit card and other paraphernalia about a week later in the mail with no issues that would cause me to physically visit the branch to sort out. The interest rates are average for rates at the moment but with no fees compared to banks who can complain really? So far I'm extremely happy with First Citizens and recommend them to anyone who's tired of banks and their fees.
I recently opened a checking/savings account here for a home business. The staff were very friendly and made the whole process very easy for me and had me setup with everything I could need in a very short time. Their location and online services make access to my accounts as easy as anyone could hope for and their interest rates are very competitive, just about the best in the area. I will be getting a loan from them in the future to expand my business and I have no doubt they will help that process go smoothly. I don't think you could ask for a better credit union.
I recently opened an account with Bridgewater Credit Union via their website. My first problem was that they weren't allowed to withdraw the cash to open the account from my current account. Small issue since they have a branch next to my work. My second problem was my first debit card they gave me was unmagnetized and it took 2 phone calls and a visit to the branch to solve. A little over a week later I finally had a working card, although I'm stuck using the PIN they assigned to it since their phone service doesn't allow it to be done like that, unlike most other banks/credit unions. On a more positive note, their tellers are very friendly and never seemed rushed in helping you while still getting your business attended to quickly. There's a free coin counting machine, so if you collect as much change as I do , you know the CoinStar fees you'll be saving. They also provide free coffee (Keruig) at least in the branch I have visited and sometimes they offer pastries. Overall, once the account opening issues were dealt with, I'm happy enough with Bridgewater CU.
