This bank is excellent. They have many branches and competitive interest rates. I like the way I was treated by the staff. Even regarding a small loan they were pretty fast and took care of me pretty well. I’m very grateful for their service. Their online portal is the best. Everything is clear and easily accessible. Indeed highly recommended. And their car loans are very straightforward to apply to. So again, they are a complete financial solution for all of us. Some tips in order to do business with this credit union are the following: get the numbers of the branch you’ll do business with, because some of the website numbers have changed. Also, making friends with the manager is advisable since that can speed up the process and finally you’ll go for the fixed interest products and be all set.
This is a prepaid bank and card that's great for online purchases. It's accepted everywhere and works like a regular Visa card. If you shop a lot from Chinese websites this card is a life saver because it shields you from fraud. I love the fact that I can reload the card in 7-elevens and check cashing places. This makes for a very convenient experience. The reload feed can be very steep, but if you pace yourself and only reload a couple of times per month then the card is definetely worth it. Netspend has been around for more than a decade now so this is definetely a very solid company.
I used this bank heavily in the Caribbean. Their international presence is notable and their agents are always well trained. You can trust that their cards will be some of the most expensive ones but they also give you huge expending limits so there's the trade off. Indeed, Citibank is a nice brand and having a checking account with them is very nice if you need to move money overseas like I did. I don't recommend the credit card though; probably one from Bank of America will be better or an American Express will have more loyalty prizes. I find that Citibank cards don’t reward loyalty as much. Well, a final comment: lines were huge at this bank! Even though they have a large international footprint, there were only a couple of branches per city, so those fill up pretty quickly. So make this decision mindfully.
I studied at UVA and these people were grateful enough to lend me the money to go there! What can you say? It is truly a great institution, far above the cut and better than most banks. No lines whatsoever, quick disbursements and very clear terms. On the flip side, interests might be a little high (especially if you're an international student). I'm about to start paying back my loan as I write this and, sincerely, couldn't be happier. For most graduate programs this CU gives unsecured credit lines of up to 200K. That's a lot of money. Everything about this institution is great: the facilities, the people, the systems, the terms and the ATMs. 100% recommended.
Good products, comprehensive insurance but bad customer service. Signing up was simple and easy. I felt like it was a good deal when signing up for Aetna insurance, but after a while it became apparent that reaching customer service or making ANY question at all was going to be a nightmare. Hard to reach people, a lot of dodges and no online communication. These people still live in the 80s. Everything is through a form and everything takes between a month to six weeks. I also have health insurance with them and it is the same distress. You get good coverage but the communication aspect is very very bad. I just hope they could improve on that, oh and please set up more branches in the South. It is also very hard to find an Aetna branch there.
This bank is great. If you're Latino and need to send large sums of money to your family and friends, Banco Santander is a good alternative. They provide very good services, a nice internet portal and good products. The application process is very cumbersome but they have branches in all of Spain and Latin America, which makes this bank very convenient. I would highly recommend this institution to anybody. The people are very friendly and attentive so if you're considering a change of banks or even retiring to South America, Banco Santander is a great alternative. Don't forget to set up a direct link to your American bank to avoid any extraneous charges! It happened to me!
Bank of America is great. They have ATMs nearly everywhere, they provide very good service and they seem to have a myriad of products. I have a debit card with them and three accounts. I used to bank with them in Virginia, California and now New York. In every branch I've received very adequate service, fast replies and superior online services. I like their iPhone app, the benefits of my card, including discounts and realtime balances, etc. I think the best world to describe BoA is dependability. I count on them for many a banking task and they have never let me down: whether is a wire transfer, an update to my account or a special request, everything seems to be very smooth. Perhaps their only downside is the amount of customers they have. You could arrive one day and have to face a very big line. I think this varies according to state, but all and all this is the biggest bank so that is to be expected. Just choose your branch carefully and you'll be fine.
