I was a customer of Bank of America for a short period of time. While applying for an account and being accepted as a member was quick and relatively simple, actually being a member of this bank was a dreadful experience. There seemed to be every possible problem on a regular basis. From debits taking too many days to process, failed direct deposits resulting in bank fees, dropped payment attempts with bill pay to useless customer service...everything at this bank is an issue. One of my biggest fears is that my mortgage will one day, somehow, get sold to Bank of America. I think I'd cry. I would not recommend this bank to anyone, as a credit union, savings and loan or any other financial product. That is, unless you enjoy learning the hard way.
I was a member of Raritan Bay Federal Credit Union for a short period of time before moving. I was happy with the level of service I received since my average daily balance was pretty small compared to the average customer. Every time I did business here I was greeted kindly and treated with the same respect as everyone else. As with most credit unions, interest rates were good and transactions were simple to conduct. Raritan Bay offers a full range of banking products that are competitive (and in most cases better than) the larger national banks. If anyone is thinking about making Raritan Bay Federal Credit Union their bank, they are making a good choice!
I banked with Wells Fargo for nearly ten years. Recently, things have declined so much so rapidly that I closed my accounts. In the beginning, account application, setup and support was easy. Everyone seemed to be interested in providing great customer service and helping with any issues that came up. Then a few years ago came the sales pitches. The company started requiring tellers, account admins and phone support representatives they had to offer other products to each customer. So I’d call to ask a quick question, and would be kept on the phone much longer than my question took, being offered additional products (like home loans and credit cards) I didn’t need. Very frustrating. Then came the week-long holds on bill payments until funds to cover the holds weren’t present in my account due to normal spending. You guessed it - bank fees, loads of them. Naturally, customer service wasn’t very helpful but they were happy to offer me loans! The last straw was the news that my ten year old free checking account wouldn’t be free anymore, despite my having been a customer for that long and maintaining a good-sized savings account and other investments in the bank. I transferred all my money to a credit union, closed my accounts and am thrilled to not have to deal with Wells Fargo anymore!
I have been a customer of Amboy Bank for many years. The level of service has always been good here and I enjoy banking online as well as in person. They take an active part in helping the community and are well respected in the area. It is very easy to open an account, with simple forms and low opening balances. Interest rates are not the best, but respectable for a community bank. They offer many services, including mortgages and personal loans. Repayment terms are among the best I have seen. I will do business with Amboy Bank as long as I am able to.
I very much enjoy being a customer of this credit union. When I moved here, I wanted a local bank and asked around which would be best. Northern Federal Credit Union came highly recommended by more than one of my friends and neighbors. The application process was quick and easy. From the time I walked in to the time my account was open was less than an hour! Information was given clearly and all of my questions were answered well by the representative who assisted me. Many months later I am still a happy customer. I like the high level of service I get, the excellent interest rates and the ease of accessing my money when needed. Don't bother with the big, national banks. A local credit union is the way to go these days, and Northern Federal won't disappoint!
