No credit card needed
I had a very positive experience at this branch. I needed a checking account and credit card for my new business and their business banker David was so friendly and very helpful. When I had questions afterward, he always followed up promptly for me, whether by email or gave me a call. Really first class service and their pricing and account features are great. Their current credit card promotions are recognized as the best. I highly recommend it. I don't write many reviews on here because so many businesses have hundreds of reviews. But folks don't seem to be all that passionate about banking and when I saw a lot of the older negative reviews I wanted to tell people about my positive experience.
Ι’ve been with this bank for a year and a half trying to support local business, the little guy and whatnot, but sadly Ι've got to go with another bank. Ιt does seem that nobody wants to help you there. The tellers (there were three at the front desk yesterday) seem to want you to go away. They said nothing to me when I stood waiting for help. I was the only customer in the bank. As I was being helped another person came in and stood waiting. It took probably 2-3 minutes for them to recognize they had another customer. It seems they've given up. The tellers don’t seem to know anything. I feel like there are a lot of people in this city/country looking for work. Why settle for these employees? This bank is severely mismanaged. Do not give them your business.
I tried paying my credit card balance online but the website was down (a common issue). Then I decided to use the chat feature for the first time and talk to a customer service rep to help pay my bill. Thankfully my bill wasn't due until at least 10 days after that day, but I like to pay my bills early. So, the chat rep took my info and said she scheduled a payment for me (did not say when). I check my account a week later and it wasn't paid!! I tried the chat feature again to ask why, and another person told me that a payment was scheduled for THE DAY THE PAYMENT IS DUE. How irresponsible! Here I am trying to be a responsible client by paying my bill way ahead of time, and BofA screws me over. So I try to actually call them to tell them I want the payment to be scheduled TODAY. Of course I'm greeted by a VERY lengthy voice machine that gives me absolutely no useful options to resolve this issue. I kept pressing 0, and was on hold for at least 15 minutes, until finally I got a hold of someone. By then I was angry because of having to maneuver the stupid voice machine and wait for so long, but I repressed my feelings and remained friendly to the customer service rep. To add insult to injury, the representative on the phone had a VERY low voice and was hard to hear. Every time she said something I had to say “What? I can't hear you.” and she would just get frustrated with ME. I had my phone volume on the highest possible level and that didn't help at all. She told me she would amend the transaction date. So, here I am waiting with my fingers crossed that this gets done. I can't believe what a hassle it is just to pay my damn credit card bill!! In a nutshell, my experience with Bank of America has been horrible and I would never recommend this bank to anyone.
Deplorable customer service, rude call center representatives and annual price increases despite NOT EVEN USING THE SERVICE ONCE. They are in business solely due to the fact that people know they must have some insurance in case of catastrophe. If it were not for that they would fold in 48 hrs. I have given them 2 years to prove to be at least a reasonable company to rely on and they have failed over and over again. Unless your income is high (5 to 6 figures) the rate increase for a single person alone is reason enough to go elsewhere. My brother worked for them for 2 years and I cannot begin to express the disdain he had for them after seeing what really goes on behind the scenes.
Sun Federal Credit Union is non-profit member-owned and is a great bank. They give good rates that compare with other banks and they do not charge for every little thing like teller service! If you email a question you get a response by email within the hour. I love them and have used them for over 10 years. The only problem is that their online banking program does not give you a monthly predicted balance after billing but only as each check clears, thus if someone holds checks on you or delays you could be in a bind and have to use another account or keep a large surplus in checking. They also do not have many ATM machines and their traditional Visa Card account is not posted on the same page as all your other accounts. Still, these are not significant problems if you consider BofA or WellsF that charge you for “looking” at them!
I was solicited by an agent who offered lower home insurance premium. I called the office and had a lengthy discussion, asking many questions to make an informed decision. It was a daylong event as I had to speak back and forth with my original agent as well as the Allstate agent to cancel coverage with one and start coverage with the other. I was told that in order to get the quoted home insurance rate, I would have to include my vehicle as well and I did. Approximately 18 days later, I received a call indicating my policy would be cancelled if I didn't have the roof on my home and garage replaced. I've spoken to many homeowners who had never heard of such a thing. It was surely more than an inconvenience and customer service amounted to a worthless apology and recommendation that I just returned to the previous carrier to re-establish coverage with them. I am disappointed, disgusted, dissatisfied and devastated that they are allowed to do business in such a manner. I don't recommend Allstate to anyone!
