I currently use CapEd for all my banking needs, since moving back to Idaho. So far I've had great experiences. I have the high yield checking account, savings account, and an auto loan. Overall, customer service is quick and thorough. I love the high yield checking account, which puts about $15 back in my pocket each month for that interest. My auto loan rate is very low and making payments is very easy. My only complaint is that I have to fill out a form if I plan to travel out of state and use my debit card. Supposedly, this is for "security", but I feel like it kind of invades my privacy. That is a process that could definitely be improved upon.
I opened an account with One Nevada Credit Union earlier this year when applying for a car loan. The application process was quick and easy, and the customer service was excellent. They managed to make a complicated and stressful process easy. Additionally, they helped me to locate a vehicle that fit my needs and then worked with the finance department of the car dealership when that situation became difficult. Making payments is quick and easy, and they are more than willing to work with you if you need to make a payment late for any reason. I intend to look into the other services that this credit union provides because I am so impressed with the service I have received for my auto loan.
I have had a student checking account with Citibank for the past 3 years. The process for getting the account was very easy, and customer service was excellent in this area. In general, the terms of this account are very good. There is no monthly fee for the checking account, which I like. One area that I am less than pleased with is their customer service related to issues with the account. At one point, my debit card number had been phished from a website and several fraudulent charges were made to my account, which caused my account to overdraft. Citibank was willing to remove the charges made, but did not want to refund the overdraft charges (which amounted to over $200). It took several hours on the phone, moving up the ranks of customer service until someone was willing to help me with that issue. Overall, Citibank provides average customer service. They are great if you never have an issue with your account. If you do have an issue, be prepared to spend many hours on the phone sorting it out.
I have used Silver State Schools Credit Union since becoming employed in the Clark County School District in Nevada. I currently have a car loan through this company, and I am extremely pleased with the level of service I have received so far. The application process for the loan was simple, and any questions I had were answered immediately. I was financed at an extremely low rate, and my loan terms are exceptional. I can quickly and easily make payments on my loan online. This company made the process of financing a car low stress and simple. I am currently looking into opening a checking/savings account with this union as well, and conducting my banking with local companies. I will do business with this credit union for as long as I am eligible to.
I have had my car insurance with Geico for the past 2.5 years. I initially chose them because they offered the best rate for the type of coverage that I was seeking. The application process was very easy, I would say easily above average for applying for car insurance online. I have not yet had to make a claim, but I have called Geico on several occasions with questions about my coverage. The representatives were always very helpful, and I was never on hold for long. Geico still offers the best price on car insurance in my area. The only criticism I have of this company is that I am not automatically sent new insurance cards every six months when my policy renews; I have to request them or print them. Overall, I am very pleased with the service I have received through Geico, and I see myself purchasing insurance from this company for years to come.
I have been using Bank of America since I needed a bank account when I got my first job 8 years ago. Although I have had a few issues over the years (overdrafts that shouldn't have happened, having my card locked while traveling) customer service has always been prompt and helpful. In fact, when my debit card was stolen, the customer service representative went out of his way to help me cancel the card, and helped me learn how to write a check so that I still had access to my account while I waited for a new debit card to be sent. I currently have a checking account, a savings account, and a credit card with Bank of America. I plan to use Bank of America for years to come.
