I had been with M&T since before it even was M&T. I had an account with Wilmington Trust my entire life. I hadn't ever planned on changing that, but then M&T bought out Wilmington Trust. I figured I'd give it a shot even though I wasn't sure. The transition wasn't very smooth, the customer service wasn't great, and all in all, I decided to leave after having an account there since I was a kid. I was getting charged all kinds of fees that I had never been charged before and not a single customer service rep seemed even the slightest bit sympathetic. I'm all for change, but this was change for the worse.
I was a total dunce when it came to homeowners insurance and I was kind of afraid someone would take advantage of me and slam me with terrible rates. Not the case. I had gone on a suggestion by my car insurance agent to see what State Farm could offer me. It turns out my car insurance was lowered and I got a great rate. I wasn't too sure so I checked out a few other places and State Farm was the best. They also took the time to make sure I knew exactly what I was getting into and that I understood everything.
Despite having a defensive driving course discount and no points on my license, I really thought I could get a better rate. I looked around and finally settled with State Farm. Not only were their rates the best, their insurance agents were very thorough as well. I was involved in a minor fender bender and State Farm was really thorough in following up. The accident wasn't even my fault! I've been with them for a while now and my rate is the lowest it's ever been. It was lowered even more after I got a bundle and got home insurance too. For all the problems people say they have with car insurance, I haven't had any issues!
Despite what my parents told me, I never realized how important savings were until I was out of college. I went to the Delaware Alliance Federal Credit Union (my parents had a savings account there) after I got my first real job. I didn't have any idea what I was doing, but the person working there was so helpful and informative. They didn't try to sell me anything or scam me at all. They were so genuine in their effort to get me the best options possible. I felt right at home and so comfortable asking even the dumbest questions. I recently bought a house and they were so helpful with that entire confusing process! I can't imagine banking anywhere else!
I was having trouble with my old bank and my friend recommended that I try Chase since they had a promotion for new sign ups. I transferred my money and opened an account with Chase and then set up my direct deposit with them. After a month or two, I received a $75 bonus for linking my work's direct deposit to my account! Overall their rates and policies are pretty fair. I don't have any investments or anything... just a normal checking account that I keep in good standing. They treat me well and I've never had any problems. Their app is easy to use and I rely on that a lot since I check it at least a couple of times a day.
