Seven years ago, when Wells Fargo was Wachovia, I opened a business checking account for my corporation. I also opened a personal account. I have been somewhat happy over the years with the service at my local branch, and with the website which makes online banking and bill paying very simple. What I am NOT happy about since the bank became Wells Fargo is that the minimum balance requirements for their accounts are higher and I now have to pay a monthly service fee for my personal account. Fortunately, I was able to change my business account to a “free small business account” and now do not have service fees associated with it. But I am shopping around for another bank for my personal accounts where I won’t have to pay a $10.00 per month service fee.
When I became a GTE employee (corporation name later changed to Verizon), I was qualified to become a member of the GTE Federal Credit Union in Tampa, Florida. Overall, I have not been very happy with the service and at present, only maintain a small savings account to keep my membership active. When I was using GTE for my main checking account, they made several errors over the years in posting transactions. The worst occurrence was when I deposited a check for a large amount and they posted it to my husband’s ex-wife’s account! This in turn caused several of the checks I wrote to pay bills to bounce. It took a great deal of time and energy to get the mess sorted out and GTE Federal Credit Union only reimbursed their own bounced check fees, but did not cover the cost I incurred with the companies I bounced checks with. I am not a satisfied customer.
I was eligible to join Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union because my husband’s mother is a teacher in the Hillsborough County school system in Tampa, Florida. Due to this relationship, it was quick and easy to join and open both a checking and savings account. It is also very convenient as they have a branch close to the office where I work. I can run in during my lunch break if necessary and there are never any long lines. The tellers are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I love that I can get in and out quickly and feel confident that my transactions are handled properly. I highly recommend this credit union if you qualify to become a member.
State Farm Insurance Company has provided homeowners insurance for me since 1999. Although I have never had to file a claim for any kind of damage, I have been very satisfied with their service and rates. When I was in the process of buying my home in the late Nineties I compared insurance companies and State Farm came out on top. This house was old, small, and termite damaged so I proceeded to gut the place and redo it from the inside out. When it was restored, I called for a new appraisal and even though the value went up quite a bit, State Farm offered the coverage I required without hiking my rates a great deal. If I ever do have to file a claim I feel confident that State Farm will respond promptly and efficiently. Overall, I find State Farm to be a reliable insurance provider for my home.
Geico car insurance has been used by my entire family and we have been very happy with the service. I spent a great deal of time shopping around for rates and Geico is the least expensive while offering good plans with low deductibles. When my son turned 16 and began driving, I was worried that the cost of his auto insurance would be through the roof. I called Geico and was pleasantly surprised to learn I could afford the insurance for my teenager. When my son had an accident, the adjuster came out right away and was very professional. Overall, my experience with Geico has been much better than any other company I have used in the past.
Joining Delta Credit Union was a simple process. Also, when changes needed to be made regarding names on the account, it was handled quickly and efficiently and I was able to do this via email. They offer good interest rates and incentive programs. The only two things I do not like so much is the quality of the website. I can do online transactions, but the site is somewhat archaic as compared to websites of other financial institutions. It is also only located in the state of Georgia, in and around Atlanta. I find this an inconvenience when traveling outside of this state or the United States.
