I am a small business owner and have been with SunTrust for about five years. This is a good company for small businesses and they actually understand small businesses very well. Every so often I check out the competition but have not changed because of their competitors' exorbitant fees. Running my business with another bank would cost be at least $65 more per month. I seriously doubt it would be possible to get $65 more service from another company because SunTrust's customer service, both in person at the bank and over the phone have been top notch. Their web site is a big time saver as well. It really makes it easy for me to pay my employees each month, track expenses and income.
I just recently switched our bank account to Wells Fargo about 3 months ago. So far everything has been very good. They have five convenient locations around my town that makes it easy to get money from the ATMs. The bank tellers are always very nice, friendly, and courteous. I was able to get a check cashed about 5 minutes after closing time. This is something my old bank would have never done for me. Their online banking website is also very easy to navigate and use. It links both my checking and savings accounts together and makes transferring money a cinch. There online bill pay is also easy to use.
I have switched to Esurance about a year ago. I have not had any problems with the car insurance so far. I have my car, my wife's car and my teenager's car all on the policy. The rates are fantastic. Believe it or not, the rates for my teenage son are quite reasonable compared to the other two companies that I got quotes from. All in all, I am saving about $340 per six month cycle. Thankfully, we have not had to make a claim yet. The only thing we have had to do was use the roadside assistance when my wife's car battery died while was at the store. They came quickly and jumped her minivan off. This was very good since I was out of town that day.
I have a Bank of America checking account, savings account, and credit card (Visa). One very nice thing about the web site is that these three accounts are linked together. If I need to pay off the credit card, I can simply transfer money from my checking or savings account to the credit card account and it is paid off. During Hurricane Sandy, I was expecting a check in the mail from the northeast and it was delayed several days because of the storm. I had overdrafted by a few dollars because of this and got an overdraft penalty. I called their customer service and explained the situation. They undid the penalty without giving me a hard time. I was grateful for this.
About a year ago we had a small grease fire in our kitchen. Nothing got burned, but there was a lot of smoke damage. We were able to put out the fire without having to call the fire department. Shortly afterwards, I sent my State Farm agent an email since this was a Sunday afternoon expecting a call back the next day. To my surprise, he called me back within a few minutes and ask what happened and if everyone was OK. He had the fire damage people come out the next day to look at the damage. State Farm was great because they covered all of the costs minus a very small deductible.
