Couldn't be more pleased with our decision to use State Farm to insure our home. This past fall we took some moderate storm damage to our roof. As first-time homeowners, we probably overreacted a bit, but our agent never made us feel that way and came by very quickly. We weren't sure how the process would play out, but felt as if our claim was handled professionally--and best of all--quickly. It's never a good thing to have to “use” your homeowner's insurance, but the professional way our claim was expedited and our home repaired gave us peace of mind that we'd obviously chosen the right insurer.
I've been thrilled with Geico in the four years I've had them insuring my car. A year ago someone sideswiped my car where it was parked on the street and I had to file a claim. I honestly was expecting hassles piled on top of hassles, but the claim process was remarkably painless and handled online. I was able to get my car fixed and looking good as new in a matter of 10 or 12 days. The best news is that they didn't destroy me on my premiums after this incident. I'll continue to use them because they've earned my business with the cost and customer service.
I love banking with Navy Federal Credit Union. I have a checking account there as well as their credit card. There are probably banks or credit unions with more bells and whistles to offer, but with the NFCU, you get what you want, with very few hassles and no hidden fees. I have no fees on my checking – what a breath of fresh air that is from a certain big national bank that hits your account for fees almost constantly. My Navy Federal Visa has also no annual fee, which is spectacular. Yes, you don't get the sexy rewards advertised by Vikings on television, but in practice I find that I'd rather get smaller, more practical rewards and less hassle on the fees than anything else. Since opening my account, I've had two times the need to inquire about a charge, and in both cases my situation was resolved smoothly and professionally...and in a way that told me that Navy Federal appreciated my business. Highly recommended.
I've been a Bank of America customer for twelve years now. You read horror stories online about “Big Banks”, but I'm pleased that this simply hasn't been my experience with any of the three or four branches I interact with regularly. The folks who work at the branch near my business know me by name and treat me like I was Norm walking into the bar in Cheers when I stop by to make deposits. A year ago I had a small problem with my personal checking account, and the manager at a different branch was very helpful, totally professional and absolutely courteous about everything. Most importantly, he made me feel as if my little personal checking account was of the greatest single importance to him and absolutely wanted to be sure I left the bank happy that day. Bank of America has earned my business, and I'm happy to give it to them.
