I use this credit card for my small business and couldn't be happier with it. I have had this card for only around 8 months or so but have never had any problems with it. The APR is slightly lower than other comparable cards and it is especially good for small businesses like mine just starting out because of the 0% introductory rate. I really like the points program and it is well worth paying the $25 program fee in case you saw that and were wondering. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't use a smart chip which isn't even really an issue it's just a personal preference. Definitely would recommend this one. 5 stars from me!
I switched my car insurance to GEICO after getting a new car because it was the most advertised insurance I saw on TV. I previously used something else and while I was happy with it, I wanted to save money, like the ad said. It ended up being quite a hassle, much more than I expected. The person I talked with on the phone was not very friendly. I understand it is the holidays so a lot of companies are busy but I still expected to be treated better. It also took over an hour not the 15 minutes" I was expecting. I did actually save a little bit off my monthly bill with the switch, so that's a plus.
I used First Niagara bank for my business checking account for years but only because it was the closest bank to me locally. It is pretty decent but nothing spectacular. They have a pretty steep ATM fee for when you use non-First Niagara ATMs so I try to avoid those at all costs. That can get pretty inconvenient. They also recently added a monthly fee for checking accounts that have below a certain amount of money in them by the end of the month. I fortunately have not been hit with that fee yet or I would probably rate it lower. If you have a small business that doesn't keep a lot of cash in your accounts you might be better off just looking elsewhere.
I used the Greater Niagara Federal Credit Union for my checking account when I was going to school at Niagara University a couple of years ago. It was a decent institution and I have no major complaints except for possibly their hours of operation. They closed really early on most weekdays, before 5 o'clock p.m. I never understood why they closed so early. Most people work until after that so how are they supposed to get here on weekdays? Weekends are even worse! They are only open until noon on Saturday and are closed completely on Sunday. Give me a break. Their oddball hours make it really hard to do business here so I would not really recommend using them.
I keep an account at ESL Federal Credit Union in addition to using several other banks (I use separate institutions for business, for paying off loans, and for leisure). My experience with ESL has been nothing but good. Unlike some other places, you actually get a dividend based on your account balance here. It's not a very large percentage, I think my last statement showed an annual yield of about half a percent, but that is free money for nothing. I have never been kept waiting for long when going to make a deposit and very happy with their 24 hour ATM service as well. Never had a problem so that is why I rate resolution as 3/5, because I have no experience with it. Would definitely recommend opening an account with ESL, even if you already have accounts elsewhere. You might even like it more and just decide to switch to ESL as your primary.
I use Allstate as my car insurance provider and so far have been very happy with their service. Luckily, I have not actually had an accident so I haven't had to deal with their claims department yet. But from the interactions I had with the agent when setting up my account, I am happy with their customer service and confident Allstate has my interest in mind. The agent seemed helpful and wanted to get me the best plan suited to MY needs, not just one that would make them the most money. Allstate's fees are up front and in my opinion, pretty low for the protection that you are promised. I would definitely recommend Allstate to younger people who need to insure their first car, as setting up a policy is easy.
The Buffalo Community Federal Credit Union is a great institution for a variety of things. I used them to receive a personal loan in order to buy a new car. The APR on the loan was very low, which is one of the main benefits of using a Credit Union as opposed to a bank in the first place. The atmosphere at the Buffalo Community Federal Credit Union was made to be friendly and welcoming. It didn't seem like they were just out to get my money like some banks do. Another perk of using this Credit Union is that they offer dividends to their account holders. This is rare among banks these days and has inspired me to open an account there myself. Overall, this place is great. I highly recommend using it.
When my local HSBC Bank became First Niagara, I was originally apprehensive. I came to soon find out that First Niagara was in fact a lot better than my previous bank. The customer service at First Niagara is especially top notch. The teller went out of her way to teach me how to use the check deposit feature at the ATM outside of the building. I also like to use telephone banking a lot to check my current account balance and debit/credits. Phone banking is a lot easier with First Niagara because the menu system is very easy and you can quickly navigate to exactly what you want to hear. I would definitely recommend First Niagara as a bank for personal checking accounts.
