I first opened a checking account with PNC back in 2002 when I was a freshman in college. Throughout the past 12 years, PNC has really taken care of me as a customer. The thing I love the most about having an account with PNC, is that their ATMs can be found just about anywhere. Also, if I do get an ATM fee from an out of network machine, they refund that fee. The iPhone app that they offer is also one of my favorite things. I can check my balance, transfer money, deposit checks, and just about anything else related to my account right from my phone. In the past, there have been instances where I noticed a fraudulent charge on my account. PNC is very easy to work with in order to clear things like this up. I highly recommend PNC to anyone looking to open a new checking account.
I opened my savings account 4 years ago, when it was still with ING Direct, now it has been bought out by Capital One 360. I've never had a problem with my Capital One account. This is a completely fee free account that I've moved quite a bit of money in and out of. Their website is very easy to use, and allows me to manage my account from my phone. As far as a generic savings account goes, this is as simple as it gets and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a very basic savings account. Versus the savings account that I currently also have with PNC, this one is much less hassle.
The thing I like most about having an account with First National Bank is their size. They're big enough to offer me all of the services that I need, while being small enough to still have that sense of appreciation for all of their customers. I recently had a fraudulent transaction on my account, and the people at FNB handled it perfectly. I've banked with others before, but feel a sense of belonging with FNB. We even use FNB for our business banking at our company as well.
I've been with Erie Insurance ever since I hopped off my parents insurance plan and opened my own. It really is the best insurance in the area, as their rates are much lower than the others that I'd been quoted when I first started looking. One thing I do know is that Erie doesn't insure just anybody. You definitely need to have a clean record in order to get approved for an Erie account. This is why they're able to keep their rates so low. I've only had to make 1 claim since I've had my account, and it was only for a tow. They were able to reimburse me for the full amount in just a few days. All I had to do was submit a receipt. It was super easy and they were incredibly helpful in getting all of the necessary paperwork over to me. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone in the Pittsburgh area who has a clean record and is looking for a great rate.
