Justin Haines at Nova home loans is a great business partner. He's been in the mortgage industry for a while, is very knowledgeable throughout the process, and made us feel comfortable with all of the steps involved. He was able to get us a very low rate on a recent home purchase, and got us approved with a smaller down payment than we originally budgeted. This allowed us to tackle an extra renovation project! We had a slight issue with the appraisal, and Justin worked with the sellers to get our purchase price reduced. Our lives is truly better for having worked with Justin, and we're really pleased to leave this positive review in hopes others will use his services.
This platinum card looks like a pretty standard offering from Capital One. The interest rate being above 24% would deter me from carrying any kind of balance on this account. However, the fact that is does not offer rewards is the main downside for me. I prefer cards that offer cash-back as well as addition perks like no foreign transaction fees or concierge service. For someone looking to establish or repair their credit, this card may be an acceptable option.
Thomas Knox was great to work with, and I highly recommend his insurance products. He was incredibly responsive, answered all of our questions day or night, and explained the entire process to two new customers. He continued to be a great resource too. My wife and I took a financial planning course, and we were happy to hear that Thomas provided all of the same advice that we received from dedicated CPAs! That’s definitely saying something. He's fair, responsive, and he is great at his job. What else could you need? He’s our long-term solution, and will be our agent for everything we need insurance for.
We chose 1st Bank to be our checking account provider due to their proximity to our home. I often have paper checks to deposit, and wanted to be able to stop by when going to/returning from work. They have an easily-accessible ATM, and are always very friendly. A true home-town bank that we enjoy doing business with. We would highly recommend them.
My wife and I shopped for auto insurance for a few days, keeping a running list of coverage and premiums. We both have clean driving records, no accidents in the last 5 years, and no speeding violations. Not only did Farmers offer the best coverage, they came in just under our lowest overall policy cost. We chose to proceed with them, and they made the transition very simple. We would recommend you consider this company in your list of insurance providers.
My BoA savings account is good in that it provides a very liquid place to transfer money in addition to my checking account. It is free to open, and carries no annual fees (so long as you meet very basic criteria). The 0.01% interest rate isn't very appealing, and there are many options that better this investment performance (i.e. Ally Bank). However, should you need access to these funds it can take up to 3 business days. We routinely keep a small "back-up" fund in this account, with other nest-egg funds in a better performing account. I would recommend it to those with other existing accounts at BoA.
I’ve always kept my checking account with a corporate bank and received “ok” service. The occasional overdraft and consistent ATM fees kept the relationship a bit rocky. Recently, I received a notice that they would be applying a monthly charge to my checking account unless I direct-deposited a minimum amount each month. This was the last straw – hence I found First Class American Credit Union. They offer a truly-free checking account, and also refund your first few ATM charges. This is a huge benefit as I travel frequently and find myself in need of cash. I would recommend them to friend and family for sure.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card has many perks that certain types of people will find very valuable. I myself was looking for a card with no international usage fees as I make frequent business trips to Europe and Asia. This card perfectly fit the bill. No more international fees, and the concierge service comes in handy as well. The reward points cover the annual fee in my case, so it’s essentially a free account. You can cash in the reward points to help pay the balance, or as a cash deposit into your bank account. I would definitely recommend this card to others.
Railroad Federal Credit Union is a great bank for free checking in the age of fees and restrictions. I left my previous bank when they alerted me that my free checking account would now carry a monthly fee if a direct deposit was not made each month. In addition to the free checking account, they offer ATM usage for free throughout all of their sister-CU banks across the country. I travel quite a bit, so this perk can really add up. I’m anticipating buying a home soon, and plan to use them for this as well. I would highly recommend this bank to anyone looking for a no-hassle experience.
With no monthly fees, this card would be good for someone who is either building their credit or would like an addition source of borrowed funds. Western Union Prepaid MasterCard isn't a rewards card, so the main benefit is that it's a low-cost alternative for purchasers who may need to carry a balance for a short period of time. It's largely no-frills, but you do get free Live support, which is an added perk should you experience any issues. All in all, I would recommend this card to people who are starting out, or aren’t interested in a rewards card with a (likely) higher interest rate.
If you can spend the $2,000 minimum within the first 3 months of opening the account, the bonuses are really nice. 50,000 bonus miles is a great way to start in this reward program. In addition, the annual fee doesn't begin until the second year, which makes it essentially free to start. I find the APR a bit on the high side, but with reward cards you generally see this. I chose a different card based on cash-back, but for those who travel frequently this is an intriguing offer. All in all, a great deal that I would definitely recommend.
Jeff Ratanapool at Century Mortgage is a rock star. As he's been in the mortgage industry for a very long time, he's extremely knowledgeable throughout the process, and made us feel comfortable the entire time. He was able to get us an outstanding rate on a recent home purchase, and got us approved with only 5% down. We had a slight issue with the appraisal, and Jeff worked with the Seller's agent to get our purchase price reduced. Talk about service. Our life is truly better for having worked with Jeff, and we're really pleased for the referral to use him.
In this age of accounts with fees, there are fewer options for truly free checking. I became a member of this credit union, and was won over by their personal service and lack of fees. When I purchased a vehicle, I took out an auto loan with this as well. I had trouble getting approval at some of the larger banks, even with a credit score in the 720's! They also have a partnership with other CU's across the country which allow you to use their ATMs with no fees. I would definitely recommend this credit union to anyone wanting a good bank at a low cost.
