I began banking with Montana Federal Credit Union just a couple of years ago, but have had nothing but great experiences. I was tired of paying fees to the big banks, and having to meet so many different criteria to avoid those fees (direct deposit, minimum balances in up to three separate accounts, etc). Credit Unions are really the way to go if you want to avoid fees and want to feel like part of a family. It is nice not being just another account number, and actually feeling like the people there care about you, which is so important for the people that are handling your money!
I love my Chase Amazon Visa card. The rewards are great for me. I get 3% back on all Amazon purchases, 2% on a select few other categories, and 1% back on all other purchases. I do lots of shopping on Amazon, including all of my christmas gifts! If you don't do lots of online shopping on Amazon, there are better cards out there, but for me, it is perfect!
This card is an okay option for someone just starting out, or someone with very poor credit. It is easy to get approved for a secured credit card, but there really aren't many advantages over that. Not only is there a $29 annual fee, but after one year, you are charged each time you request a credit limit increase or decrease. There are better secured cards out there with lower fees.
I did not deal with this agent directly, but did work closely with state farm. About 3 months ago, I was driving home from visiting some relatives when I hit a deer. I was about 100 miles from home, and State Farm immediately called for a tow truck to tow me all the way home. My damage came out to about $8500, and honestly, after my first phone call to State Farm, I never even had to talk to them again. As far as I'm concerned, this was as great of an experience as I could have possibly hoped for. They paid for my tow, for the repairs, and for my rental car for three weeks!
After recently moving to Great Falls, I needed a new credit union, and heard good things from friends about the Teachers Federal Credit Union (now Embark Credit Union), and boy were they right! After struggling to maintain a high enough balance, and direct deposit, and monthly transfers and blah blah blah to maintain my "free" accounts, I had had it. Moving to GFTFCU was an easy seamless process, and I love that it (as all CU's) are owned by the customers, not a giant corporation. I love the friendly hometown service, and have nothing but great things to say about them. I recommend them to all of my friends!
The Direct Express Prepaid Card is a great card to use if you use direct deposit from your work. The money goes directly onto this prepaid card which you can use at any retailer that accepts MasterCard. The biggest downside to this card is that you only get one free ATM withdrawal per month, and are charged after that. In a small town such as mine, there are some places that do not take MasterCard, and I need to use an ATM multiple times per month. If I lived in a bigger city where credit cards were used more often, this would be a better card for me.
This credit card is great if you plan on making a lot of purchases from Guitar Center. Apart from that, there are not a whole lot of good benefits to using this card. There are tons of other options that would be better for you if you are not a frequent shopper of Guitar Center. Many other cards offer better cash-back options, reward options, and better interest rates than this one. There is the nice benefit of having six or twelve month financing at Guitar Center through this card, and anybody making a major purchase from the store would be well inclined to use this card!
I first got the Alaska Airlines Credit Card two years ago. My cousin was getting married in Hawaii, and I got the card to use the $99 companion ticket. What a deal! It is great that you get the companion ticket, as well as all the miles right away...there is no waiting to spend a certain amount before you get the benefits. Getting the companion ticket once every year is really the reason that I use the card, it is a great way to earn miles and get cheap airline flights. Also, Alaska Airlines is a great carrier to fly with! Great service and great flights. I have nothing but good things to say about this card and recommend to everybody.
