Tom Medlin has consistently provided me with a high level of service. I have car and home insurance through him at Allstate, and he has been nothing but professional and friendly throughout the time I've been with him. He explains to you in detail the different factors that affect your insurance rates and some ways to reduce the rates. He does his best to get you a good, fair rate. I have had insurance agents in the past who didn't care about you as a person and only wanted to up-sell as much as possible regardless of how much of a financial bind that put you in. Tom isn't that kind of guy.
Glenn Fortner was my loan officer when I purchased some rental property last year. I did have some bad marks on my credit due to some dumb mistakes that I made years ago regarding credit cards. I also was scared that I wouldn't get the loan because I already have a couple of other mortgages as well as hefty student loans. Glenn went above the call of duty and helped me secure financing for the rental. His staff was very pleasant to work with as well. I am very thankful for Glenn's hard work and dedication in helping people get financed regardless of their circumstances. I would recommend him to family and friends.
I had a pretty complicated situation, but Dana was able to work with me and help me get approved. She patiently educated me about the options I had available to me and kept me updated on the types of financing that were available for different properties as I was looking. A family member vouched for her as she had helped him as well. She always got back to me quickly whenever I had questions, and always seemed to be available when I needed. She made a very complicated and frustrating process as seamless as it could be, and I would strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a loan officer.
I’ve had a Citibank savings account since college. I am really surprised at how easy it is to make deposits even though there isn’t a branch very close to me. I haven’t seen any many other banks that allow remote deposits with a cell phone which is incredibly convenient. Who likes standing in lines at the bank just to make a deposit? I’ve never had to contact Citibank because of any problems, which is a good sign, but I also can’t comment much on their customer service. Opening an account was slightly more difficult than some other banks and credit unions that I’ve used, but it was manageable and definitely worth it for the benefits.
Local Government Federal Credit Union is one of the best banking institutions I’ve ever used. Their tellers are always very friendly and welcoming. I’ve never had any major problems, but one minor problem was quickly resolved by a teller. They go above and beyond. I once needed to withdraw cash off of my credit card and didn’t have the proper information, and they made an exception for me. I can’t say enough good things about them. I strongly encourage anyone who can sign up with LGFCU to do so. You won’t ever want to go back to a traditional bank afterwards.
I’ve been using SECU for several years now. I switched to SECU after my bank decided to unfairly charge me excessive fees. I’ve never had a problem with SECU nor LGFCU. I really like that you can go to either credit union as it gives you many more locations to visit. My checking and savings account are free as long as I keep 25 dollars in the share account. There aren’t a whole lot of bells and whistles, but everything works efficiently. I’ve always had deposits go in immediately and have never had to wait for them to post. I would recommend this credit union to anyone who is fed up with banks.
I’ve never had a such a terrible experience with a bank as I’ve had with Four Oaks Bank. They once tried to charge me over 500 dollars for a 25 cent overdraft. It was the first time I had ever overdrafted and I was fine with accepting a penalty of some sort, but 500 dollars was really outrageous. They refused to waive any of the penalty and I ended up having to move on to another bank that treated customers a little better. Any bank that cares about customers would have seen how ridiculous that kind of fee is for a first time mistake and fixed it.
My grandparents and mother have had Farm Bureau insurance for as long as I can remember so naturally I became a customer when I was old enough to drive. They offer competitive rates and the people are very customer-oriented. I’ve never been in accident so I’m not sure how great their claims department is, but I’ve heard good things. They offer many discounts for those who are budget-conscious. They also have a more “at home” feel than larger national insurance companies who make you feel like a number and couldn’t care less about you because they don’t even see you.
I’ve had a First Citizens checking account for a very long time. My grandparents used First Citizens for as long as I can remember, so they ended up being my first bank. The customer service is good as it is a fairly small bank and they seem more personable. I’ve never had a major issue that needed to be resolved although I have known others who have had problems that were quickly resolved. Getting an account is easy and straight-forward. I would recommend First Citizens to someone who wants a bank account specifically, although I am a bit partial to credit unions myself.
I have had mostly good experiences with Virginia Credit Union. While I have had some problems with my account, most of those were my own fault. I accidentally overcharged once by a few cents. It took me a while to realize what had happened, and they graciously waived the charges. I had a similar incident happen in the past at a different bank, and they refused to waive hundreds of dollars in fees for a 25 cent overcharge. I’m glad that Virginia Credit Union is more reasonable in that respect. Overall the staff are very friendly and helpful. Most of the services are similar to other credit unions. I would recommend Virginia Credit Union to others who are looking to escape awful banks.
I haven’t been a Truliant Federal Credit Union customer for long, but so far I have had a great experience with them. I have a free checking account with no fees which is a huge plus. I’m used to getting charged monthly fees at other places. They also have an application you can use to deposit checks from your cell phone. It’s incredibly convenient as I sometimes get checks and dislike making a special trip to deposit them. Their customer service is great and the employees are knowledgeable. I have been recommending Truliant to my family and friends who are tired of excessive fees and poor outsourced customer service. I would never go back to a bank.
