I recently switched over from my old credit union to Orange County's Credit Union as it was recommended to me by a friend and I could not be more impressed! OCCU has multiple locations throughout my county so it's very easy to find an atm whenever I need one. The best thing about them though is that they are very straightforward, they don't try to slip in hidden fees with the plans that they offer. They also offer very enticing deals on their CD's which is always a plus. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for an honest, easy going, and reliable credit union.
I never had much money to invest in a savings account until one event happened, I came across a large sum of money from a lotto win. So when I first was in the market to deposit my recent lottery winnings into a savings account I first looked at Citibank and I haven't looked back since then! Citibank offers a fantastic interest rate for a shy deposit amount of what competitors offer. There sign up process was also a breeze, I signed up online and talked over the phone with a rep to get my account activated. For a person who is new in the market for a savings account, Citibank was one of the best choices I could have possibly made!
The Capital One Secured card is a great started card which is riddled with flaws. On one side of the spectrum, the card is a perfect card for people with little to no credit, it helps people get started on the long road of credit. In that aspect, it's one of the best since they usually accept application from just about anybody. The negatives of this card would be the ridiculously high interest rates, which are far more than what other cards offer. The biggest flaw is the down payment you need to make in order to be accepted for the card. It is about $250, which is too high. All in all though, I would say this card is good for what it does. Helping you get started on your journey. I would recommend it on that aspect.
Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union is one of the best local credit unions in the area. They provide some of the lowest interest rates on their loans! Not to mention you can apply for most of their loans directly online 24/7! They also have many branch locations throughout the Hudson Valley, so you are able to expect the same high quality service whenever you are away from home! Their checking account services are top notch as well, offering no minimum balance requirements. All in all, Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union is among the top credit unions in the area that you can for sure trust your future endeavours with!
The Belk store credit card has many benefits for using it compared to other cards that just use a point system. The reward system is VERY appealing and rewards you more than what you use the card for. The interest on the card is also very low compared to the standard 29.99% that you see on most cards like my Chase Freedom Card. I believe the best part of the Belk Store Credit Card is the initial 15% discount you receive by just signing up for the card. This is incredibly handy if you plan on purchasing a big selection as soon as you get the card. Overall, the Belk Store Credit Card is a reward heavy card, that comes with the benefits of a standard credit card that you should expect. I recommend this to anyone who is a big time shopper!
Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union is one of if not the best local credit unions in the area. They offer low rates on their mortgages and credit cards that cannot be beat! Aside from their low rates, their checking account is one of the most attractive features. They do not have a limit per month that you need to have in order to maintain a checking account and best of all there are no monthly charges! There atm's are always responsive and working, with plenty around the hudson valley. Best of all is that each atm allows you to withdraw the amount of money you need, no more overdrawing in 20 dollar bills! All in all I am very happy to do business with HVFCU!
The US Bank Secured Visa Credit Card seems like a good starting card for people with no credit or bad credit. The one thing I do not like is that the annual fee is rather high for an introductory card. The deposit is also $300 whereareas it is usually $200 on newcomer cards like this one It's rates are pretty good considering it is a new comer card. FDIC insured is an A+ in my book! Overall I greatly like the benefits of the card. The interest rates are attractive, as well as the actual design of the card. It is a great card when first starting out!
