How can I forget my First Progress secure card. While I was rebuilding my credit, this card became so handy to me. They do report to all three credit agencies and that matters quite a bit. I had other secure cards, where my progress was not reported on a timely matter. I opened my First Progress account with a mere $100 and kept increasing my limit as time went on. Eventually, after 1 year, I received my security deposit back. One thing I did not like about this card was the annual fee, but at the time I did not have many other options. Overall, I would recommend this card to anyone who is trying to improve their credit score.
This is simply the best card out there, I have had my Blue American Express card since early 2000s, and I absolutely love it. One of the best features of this card is the smart chip, AE had this technology for so long and others are slowly catching up. I use this card for gasoline purchases quite a bit and loving the convenience. It offers 2% cash back for gas purchases, which adds up after a while. Overall this is a great card from a great company
I previously had a secure credit card from USBANK, that was back in the day when I was trying to build my credit. 3 years later I established a 700+ credit score, by paying on the time all the time and keeping low balances on card. I had 9 credit cards from different institutions, but they had high APR, so I applied for this card and got a 15% APR. I transferred my balances from 5 other card and started paying off the whole balance. Overall this is a great card and offers great perks for travel.
I enjoy the added benefits that come with this card such as upgrades and access to member activities. This card does require a high credit score which was not a problem. I am able to save a great on travel spending due to use of this card and really enjoy it. This card also provides certain trip insurance coverage but is limited in that. Overall I would rate this card pretty good.
Capital One Secured Mastercard. I applied for this card about 2 years ago while rebuilding my credit. Initially I made a deposit of $200. 3 months later I made another deposit to increase the credit limit. My deposit was not applied to my account for a number of day and I called the CC company to check on the status of the deposit. I was told that they had to verify the account in order to credit the deposit, funny thing this was the same account the initial deposit was withdrawn from. After talking to a supervisor Capital one corrected the situation and my second deposit was credited the next day.
Discover More Card is a pretty decent deal considering it provides cash back for popular purchases and has no annual fee. This card is especially good with people who have high credit score or good credit rating. This card provides up to %5 cash back for certain items such as restaurants, gasoline purchases, travel, groceries and home improvement. But there seems to be a bit confusion about which categories actually qualify because the category selection changes based on quarters. Overall this is a good card but there is always the downside that discover is not as widely accepted as Visa and Mastercard.
Family Trust 1st Bank is not a bad bank but they have limited access for ATM that are not available in my area. I have accounts in a number of different banks and this is one probably the one I use the least. I was living in a location where this bank was serving but since moving, I have not been using my accounts in this bank due to not having any branches in my area. Every time I use my ATM card, I am slammed with various charges which does not make a smart choice for me. I do have a small loan with this bank and it is automatically drafted from my account every month. They do provide good customer service but overall this bank does not serve my needs anymore.
L.L. Beans Credit is your regular old store card, but since I like this brand so much I applied for their store card a few years back. I really like this brand and this card comes handy when I do not have the cash in hand to buy the items I would like to have. They also do have a decent rewards program ranging from %1 to %3. Of course that amount is determined by your purchases. Overall, I am quite happy with this card but their interest rates are off the roof so I try to limit my use to as little as possible. This card does provide 23 day grace period which I think is standard on most store cards.
Gap Store card is just another rewards card, but I have had this since a teenager. Though I don’t use it much cause I do not shop from GAP anymore. I did rack up some big charges when I was younger, the good old days of a teenager. This cards has a decent rewards program but the customer service is not so good. One benefit of this card is that you can also use it in Old Navy stores which I found is a more mature brand that GAP. Banana Republic is there too, but I don’t frequent their stores at all. Overall this is a good card but the rates are not so good on the wallet.
Shell Credit Card does get quite use in our family. We make a point to buy gasoline only from shell, my father used to buy gas from only shell too. Kind of like a family tradition for us. This card is nothing special and has a high interest rate, so I make a point of paying the balance in every cycle. I have Citibank accounts and I feel comfortable using this card. I have had this card for years and I have maximized my benefits using this card over the years. Doesn’t everyone like bonus rewards? Also their customer service is great too.
I have never had an account with Wells Fargo but an offer came in the mail and I applied for the card and was approved. The process was quite simple and I received the card in the mail which took less than 5 days. I use this card for small purchases and pay the balance every month in order to avoid fees. I got this card with a high interest rate and I have other cards with lower rates so using this card is not so feasible for me. Only for small and urgent purchases. I have never looked into their rewards program, that is something I should look into in the future.
I have had this card for so long and used only a handful of times mostly for purchases in auto department. Sears does offer quality products and I enjoy shopping at the stores, therefore this card comes handy sometimes. I am a Citibank customer so I have quite a bit of trust in this card. But their rate is quite high so I would rather use it less than more. One benefit of this card is that you can also it in Kmart stores which I seem to frequent quite often. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this card and will keep it as long as sears stores are around. I always wonder though, what happened to Roebuck ?
JCPenney Store Card is a high interest card in my opinion and I use it sparingly as I am enjoying the high interest rate offered with this card. One benefit of this card is that there is no annual fee associated with usage. Most other cards of this type usually have an annual fee. JCPenney Store Card does offer some value such as certain discounts on specific departments. This card also provides rewards on qualifying purchases that are to be redeemed toward future purchase. Overall I am satisfied with this card though I do not shop at JCPenney stores as often anymore.
I love shopping at express stores so this cards make a great selection for me. Though this card has a high interest rate, I usually pay off my balance at the end of the month and avoid fees. What I really enjoy about the Express Store Card the reward program that earns me more as I spend and shop at my favorite clothing store. This card also provides points for every dollar spent and you can later use this points to shop even more. Overall I am absolutely satisfied with this card and this is the only clothing store card I will ever have.
