One of the best things about the Wells Fargo saving account is security. I feel that my money is safe and is growing and that's the most important thing. I'm not a big risk taker and high risk stocks and funds don't interest me. What interests me is that my money is safe and even earning at all times. It links nicely with my checking account so I never get an overdraft fee on my checking account as they are linked and will automatically draw from savings if I go over with my checking. I can access my money from my savings right through my ATM with my debit card as well. If you keep over $300 in the account there is never a monthly fee and it has the standard .01 APY. There is nothing sexy about this, or any savings account for that matter. But I sleep safe at night knowing my money is safe with Wells Fargo. I would recommend for anyone who wants peace of mind.
The Discover card is a great "all-around" card. They have a fantastic bonus opportunity going on right now where you get 5% cash back on all purchases through the end of the year. So if you use your card for holiday shopping you are getting 5% back on everything. Plus there is their standard 1% back on all purchases which is always valid. You get top notch customer service with Discover as you always talk to a human being on the phone, never an automated reply. You are treated like a human and not just another number to them. I travel a lot to Canada and Mexico, so I was looking for a card with no foreign transaction fees and was happy to have found Discover met my needs. Never a fee for a foreign transaction. They are offering 0 percent finance for balance transfer AND purchases for 14 months. This card really has a lot to offer and is truly about saving the consumer money. I would recommend it to anyone, especially those that travel outside of the United States on a regular basis.
If you do a lot of home improvement or contractual work, the Home Depot Store Card might be the card for you. It's only good in their store, but it offers attractive finance rates as low as 17.99%. That is much better than the comparable Lowe's APR of 24.99%. There are no frills with this card and unless you do heavy shopping at Home Depot then this card probably isn't for you. It has the same no annual fee as the Lowe's card and an extra two days grace period. It really is a card for someone who needs some credit to get projects done. Their customer service is pretty good and they do have no interest if paid in full within 6 months. The card does what it advertises to do. It gives you credit at Home Depot along with good customer service and online access to your statements and bill pay. It doesn't offer any frills other than being useful at Home Depot. If you do plenty of shopping at Home Depot, then it never hurts to have their card as the APR is decent and their customer service is great.
It would be hard to find a much better card for people who use their cars often than the Sunoco Credit Card. With no annual fee you really have nothing to lose. The 16.99% Rate is pretty decent as well. Lots of other cards like the Capital One Ventures Card offer rates from 13-20%, but we all know most of the time you are getting closer to the 20%. There's not millions of things and rewards to do with this card but you have to buy gas so you might as well collect your rewards. There are lots of cards with better perks, but the one thing you have to do as a traveler is fill up your tank. Why not take advantage of it with the Sunoco Credit Card. Every gallon of gas gets you 3 thank you points as well as after the third fill up of the month you get 10 per gallon. Other cards have more rewards, but if you fill up enough and use Sunoco you can get some use out of this card.
The Hilton Credit Card is a card that packs a punch. True it's for good credit, but it's not an unobtainable card. If you like to travel a lot and don't want to stay in motels, this is the perfect card for you. Hilton is one of the top brands in Hotel accommodations so you know you won't be disappointed. The best part about this card is that there is no annual fee. A similar card, the Capital One Venture Rewards card has a $59 annual fee after the first year. Free is always better in my book. With the Hilton Card you get 3 points for every $1.00 spent and 5 points for every $1.00 spent at a restaurant or eligible supermarket. Plus if you spend just $750 in your first 3 months you get a bonus 40,000 points. You get complimentary Silver Status at all their locations just for having the card. It really is a great card for travelers who won't have to worry about another sleepless night in an unknown hotel. Use your card like you would any card and you will rack up the points in no time to know that you are going to be traveling in luxury. For any traveler or family that likes to vacation, I highly recommend this card.
Car insurance isn't an option. It's something required by law. But that doesn't mean that it has to be a painful experience. To me, if I'm forced to do something I want to make the best of it. Choosing Liberty Mutual for my Auto Insurance was actually a pleasant experience. Like everyone, I shopped around for rates and all I could find were companies within a few dollars of each other. So I decided I would go with an established brand who offered the best customer service. I called an agent at Liberty Mutual on recommendation from a friend and couldn't have been happier. She wasn't trying to rush me through the phone call or quickly gather my data. She was interested in what I wanted/needed out of a car insurance company. She told me some things I didn't need and some things I should think about. When I was finally signed up, the quote was even less than some of the bigger names with the flashy ads. I've been with Liberty Mutual for my auto insurance for a while now, and couldn't be happier. If you are looking for a company that doesn't treat you like a number I would give Liverty Mutual Auto Insurance a chance.
For those with excellent credit the Wells Fargo Rewards program is an excellent choice for purchasing power. It gives you more bang for your buck as the reward program is great. You get 1 point for every $1 spent and 5 reward points for every $1 spent on groceries, gas and drugstore purchases. There is so much you can do with your reward points, but the things I do most with them is use them for travel. They offer travel rewards without blackout dates which is important. What good are travel rewards if you can't use them when you are available to travel? A similar card is the Sony Card from Capital One. The problem there is you can only earn 5 rewards per $1 if you spend money at the Sony store. Personally I buy more groceries than I do Sony products. I'd also rather spend my money on travel, hotels, and car rentals as opposed to being forced to use them on Sony merchandise. The Wells Fargo Rewards Credit Card is great. It protects your card from theft with it's Zero liability program and gives you all the great benefits you deserve from Visa. I would highly recommend this card to anyone looking for a new card.

We moved to North Carolina from the Midwest a few years back. To our chagrin, there isn't a Fifth Third Bank on every corner like there is in Chicago. In fact there are only 3 within 50 miles of us. That is terribly inconvenient, so we decided to open a local checking account. There was a Sun Trust Bank just minutes from our house and decided to give it a go. We really didn't know what to expect and figured it would be just like any other bank, but for some reason this was different. We were greeted warmly at the front door and asked how they could help us. We asked them about opening a checking account and they brought us into a room and went over options with us and made sure to find one that had everything we needed. There was no monthly fees, internet banking options, and check deposits via mobile app. It was fantastic. To be fair, many banks basic checking accounts are similar these days, but the one thing that stood out has been great customer satisfaction. I've always been treated politely and asked if I needed anything. If you are looking for a bank with great customer service, give Sun Trust Bank a try. You won't be disappointed.
The American Express Gold Card isn't for everyone. It is an exclusive card where excellent credit is required. But if you are in great standing and want a card that delivers, this is the card for you. It is truly one of the elite cards on the market, and there is no fee for the first year. The best part about this card is the unlimited purchasing power it affords you. There is no limit and if you are ever in a crunch you know that you have exclusive access to credit. The rewards focus more on exclusivity. They have an unheralded Extended Warranty and Return Protection for your purchases. My favorite aspect of the card is booking my travel through their Gold Hotel Collection. You immediately get a $75 hotel credit. Sure there are other cards like the Capital One Quicksilver which are comparable. But they don't offer the perks that extended travelers like myself need. They tend to focus more on the cash back as opposed to the elite benefits a frequent traveler with great credit like myself needs. If you travel a lot, need purchase power, and are interested in a great card, do yourself a favor and give the American Express Gold Card a chance. You won't be disappointed.
The thing with home insurance is that nobody thinks they need it until they actually do. I have been with First Insurance services for over ten years now. They always take the time to make sure my policy has what I need covered and explain things to me in a way that I understand everything. They truly seem to care what I need in an insurance policy. They don't try and up-sell things I don't need, and are meticulous in helping me get exactly what I need at a reasonable rate. Nobody wants home insurance, but it is a necessity because things in life do happen. I sleep better at night knowing that I'm covered and the well being of my property is in good hands. For a real personal home insurance policy that you aren't just another number with, I recommend anyone to give First Insurance a try. You won't be disappointed.
I love the KAIKU Prepaid Visa Card. Finally, a pre-paid card that get's it. There is NO activation fee. The $1.95 monthly fee isn't something I want to pay, but I'm glad to pay it to avoid dealing with a bank. Compare it to the AccountNow Prepaid Mastercard it's a no-contest. Sure they don't have a monthly fee, but they have a $4.95 activation fee AND $1.00 a transaction fee. That's terrible. The KAIKU Visa has not transaction fees ever and no cost to talk to support. The card works anywhere VISA is accepted. My favorite thing about this card is it's option to deposit via check with your smartphone. I no longer have to go to a reload center, I can add money from the comfort of my home. A truly great prepaid card that sets the bar high for other cards in the prepaid arena. Thumbs WAY UP!!!
If you enjoy shopping at Nordstrom's like me and my wife do then this is the perfect card for you. Initial sign up gets you $20 bucks credit on just a $100 purchase. Plus for every dollar you spend you get 2 Nordtrom's points which translates to $20 dollars on every $1000 you spend. Might not seem like much, but if you are going to spend $1000 there anyway over time you might as well collect the free $20. With no annual fee and a 25 day grace period there is no reason not to have a Nordstrom Card if you do shop there. Quality product, quality card.
I've been banking with RTP Federal Credit Union for years. Their customer service is top notch. I'm pretty a simple guy when it comes to banks. Don't beat me over the head with fees and keep my money safe and accessible. Also, great customer service is nice also. They have always been friendly to me and my needs and treat me with respect. I don't have million dollar credit lines or complicated accounts, but I've always been treated like I have. They are always friendly, quick to answer a question, and courteous to my needs. Anyone looking for a foray into a credit union I would definitely give RTP Federal Credit Union a chance.
Bank of America has to be one of the most secure and best banks out there. Yes it's really corporate and gets a bad rap sometimes, but it really is a great bank. I sell lots of things on e-bay and craigslist and get checks all the time. I used to have to save checks and travel to the bank to deposit them. Now with the Bank of America app I just snap a picture of the checks front and back and never have to leave home. The money is in my account the next business day. I'm just a simple check user and all I want is easy deposit and withdrawl options and a debit card accepted everywhere. I've always had courteous customer service, and would highly recommend B of A for anyone looking for an easy and safe checking account.
Fifth Third Bank 529 Savings Account is the perfect edition to the already successful product line of 5/3 bank. It's a pretty simple account as most savings accounts are, but you just put your money in and watch it grow. It currently is earning more than double the national savings average. It only has a $25 minimum so it makes it available to everyone. The standard interest rate of .10 doubles once you cross the $5,000 threshold. If you have a 5/3 checking account you can also link it to this savings account to avoid overdraft fees. With a small $5 monthly fee it's affordable for everyone. It's nice to relax and have your money working for you and you know it's in good hands with 5/3 Bank.
The Platinum Card from American Express is one of the most elite credit cards on the market today. It gets a lot of bad rep because of the annual fee, but that's from people who can't understand all the benefits. Just for spending 2,000 over your first 3 months you get 25,000 reward points which is more than enough to compensate for the fee. This card is NOT for everyone, but if you do have excellent credit and want the prestige AND the benefits of a rewarding card this is for you. A similar card is the Visa Black card, but the annual fee there is $495 and they don't have the 24/7 concierge service which makes the Platinum Card from American Express unique and special. If you are in the mood for a high end high benefit card then this card is perfect for you.
What's not to like with the Western Union Prepaid card? It's not like a bank where you are worried about overdraft fees or any unknown fees. You spend what you have. There's no hidden fees. Also compared to the similar Account Now card the activation fee is ZERO where there's is $4.95. You either have the money or you don't, and if you do you always have access to it. No fees each month, no fees to purchase anything and there are never any overdraft or late payment fees. Plus it's covered by the Mastercard Zero liability Policy so if you lose your card or are a victim of identity theft you aren't liable. What's not to like? It's a simple, yet effective card. If you are in the market for a prepaid card this card is definitely worth looking into.
NCSECU, otherwise known as the State Employees Credit Union is a really great place to make your first foray into credit unions. We have always used a bank before but finally made the switch and it was definitely worth it. We started with just a simple checking account and the process couldn't have been simpler. The customer service at our branch was top notch. We were warmly greeted and went through the process painlessly and with all our questions answered. We were able to set up checking accounts with no minimums, no fees, and 24 hour access to our money. Of course we also had online banking at our fingertips at all times. Since we had such a great experience and no problems with the checking account we went in to get a car loan and that was even easier. Our banker took our info, asked us our questions and quickly came back with what we could get for a loan and I know it beat what other banks were willing to do for us. All in all, we've had nothing but great experiences with the State Employees Credit Union. I would definitely reccommend to anyone.
Blue from American Express is a really great card with lots of benefits and it's accepted virtually everywhere. There are so many perks that you don't even think about with the card. The generic stuff is standard as far as late fees and apr go, but it's great that there is no overlimit fee when you are in a crunch. It's got a much better apr at 27.24 than a similar chase sapphire preferred. It also has a 25 day grace compared to the sapphires 21 and it has online responses where the sapphire doesn't. Plus every dollar you spend you can get up to 2 points and they start you out with 10,000 with only 1,000 in purchases over your first 3 months. You can airline travel with no blackout dates with your points. Definitely a card I love and recommend to anyone looking for a new card.
I use the card a lot for business. The apr is a little high, but that's pretty standard for office supply stores. I pay the balance off in full each month so it's not a big deal. It's much more convenient than carrying cash or putting my purchases on a credit card. We earn rewards even though we are a small business and get tons of discounts and email coupons. I also like the fact that it keeps track of our purchases. Last week I had to re-order ink for our printer and instead of taking the printer apart and trying to figure out which cartridge I just went to office depot and they were able to locate the brand based on my previous purchases. It's convenient and saves money.
