I applied for a credit card and a checking account with the St. Thomas Credit union when we moved in to Tennessee. As my sister was with a nursing school, she had procured one and always suggested me to get one. I have noticed that the transactions are hassle free, the staff is extremely customer friendly and most important of all, there is a degree of trust associated with the name. Among all the other credit cards I have owned, I have never felt the level of security as I have with this one. Though the features are not state-of-the-art, the credit card serves its purpose and that's more than enough for a normal user like me!
I have had great experience with the Jackson County Teachers Credit Union. When my aunt was in Florida, she was a member and owned a credit card of the Jackson County. I have seen the customized privileges the card had offered. It was great. They even had a tie up with the school that customized the features of the card with various teachers based on the seniority and band level in the school. The higher grades had higher withdrawing and credit limits and the lower ones had a bit lower. I am thoroughly impressed by the services offered by the card!
I signed up for a bank account with the First United Bank in Texas when I was still a student. I signed up mostly for a car loan. I was terribly in need of one as my daily commute was a big deal and the public transport wasnt all that commendable. They were quick to process my application, the account was activated on the morning of the second day after submission. I was super excited back then. The problem resolution front wasn't that great, as I did not have the best of experiences when I went for an inquiry related to a few unauthorized debits. Disclosures were all pretty simple, straight and clear. It's a nice bank to have a checking account, that I would definitely recommend.
I might sound old fashioned to review the Post Office Employees credit union, but all over the years I haven't had a card that I could rely on with so much confidence. I am sure that I wouldn't go on negative credit with this card and discrepancies if any could easily be resolved with the Post Office. Right from the disclosures to problem resolution, there has been a hassle free transaction so far and am always a glad customer. It might not offer state-of-the-art features and might not be highly customized like the new generation cards, but there is a value that I would associate with it - Trust.
I got in touch with Academy Insurance Agency when I got into Virginia Tech for my Masters in Bio Science. They have been greatly helpful in dealing with my car insurance. When I bought a new Audi I needed effective insurance plans for the radial tyres that would cover costs under all situations and I didnt want to hear the same old stories from insurance companies citing lame reasons for not covering costs. Academy Insurance Agency has been decent in terms of that. Though getting them to process the application takes time, once they get in touch, they see through the problem thoroughly. Am a happy customer now!
When I was in Virginia Tech, 3 years ago, I was referred through a friend of mine to Apple Federal Credit Union. I had a hassle free initial experience over there. I liked the speed of application processing and problem resolution aspect but when I was once late on a bill, I had a hefty interest to pay, which I was not aware of! When I visited the bank, I was told that their disclosures are all simple, clear and straight and it was my responsibility to read them all before I opted! I do agree, but I could have received a more favorable and polite reply! Otherwise, its a great credit card to have. I bought my first iPhone with the card and lots of memorable stuff!
I signed up for a check-in account with North Carolina Community Federal Credit Union when I moved to North Carolina three years ago. Opening an account was hassle free, thanks to the courteous bank employees. And last year when I applied for a credit card, the application processing and disclosures were all so simple, clear and straight forward! The credit card is a simple one, with not much cash back and reward points as in the case of the modern ones, but it more than serves my need and am a happy customer. I love the loyalty of the bank to its customers, its something I don get to see in most banks these days!
Citi is a fantastic bank for transactions. They have their services everywhere, good enough credit facilities, decent credit and cashback awards, but when it comes to savings, they are no where near the mark. Extremely low on interest rates, be it on Fixed or Recurring Deposits, Citi never stands a change against competitors. I do not know why, but they have never seemed to care about it. I guess they really care about rolling money and not much about money thats stagnating. That said, it drives away a good number of customers, but they take no steps to overcome it which is the most intriguing part. Not good enough for saving schemes!
I had a horrible accident a couple of years ago and was at logger heads with the insurance agent that put my credibility at stake. I had to set things right soon and I happened to land on the Citi Secured Master Card. Piled most of my savings into my Citi account and stuck to my credit limit for more than a year and the bank saw to it that my credit worthiness was set right. Am indebted to Citi for that. A few more months and I would be eligible for a platinum card that would greatly improve my credit worthiness. A big Thank You To Citi Secured Master Card for the timely help that no other card could offer me!
The Citi Dividend was a life saver while at college. I cannot imagine a life without the platinum card as I was so hooked to its reward points and cash back options. Back then, there was also a cash back of 50% on movie tickets and it my personal favorite! Cash backs for utility bills, telephone bills and what not! I made sure that I used the card to the fullest when I were at college. The late fee rate of interest is extremely high, but for my short purchases and bills, luckily, I never had to be late to pay my bills and never encountered a late payment fee! Anyway, Its a fantastic card for college goers!
I was drawn to this card due to the reward I saw on the first page of the T&C - "Earn $100 Bonus Cash Back after you make $500 in purchases in your first 3 months from account opening" and last year when I wanted to buy a lens for my SLR which would cost about $600, I decided to apply for this card as well, so that I might save big on the lens. I had a good credit rating then, so is now, and so I was eligible for the card. I simply love the cash back feature of this card, which offers $1 on other purchases. The reward points never expire and what more can i ask for!
Personally, I don't see a reason why one has to apply for the platinum card from American Express. The annual fee is simply exorbitant. Yes, maybe its a prestige to own one, but those $450 would look great inside my wallet than against my name! Its good for ones who spend a lot, look out for premium services and purchase regularly, but for an average conservative buyer like me, there is no real necessity to go for the platinum card. There is absolutely no cash back, which even a basic card would provide. Maybe its simply because of the annual fee that am not able to highlight anything positive about the card!
This is a great card for travelers like me. 3 points for every dollar spent for the first $6000 is a great offer, at least for me. 1.5 points for every dollar spent on purchase is a decent offer, but I personally know a few cards which offer such deals, in fact a bit on the higher end as well. Except for the travel and purchase offers, I don't see much benefits one would get out of the Bank Americard. Maybe we could add it in our kitty just for the sake of travel and use it for huge purchases as well. The Grace period is 25 days and thats great. I own a Chase credit card with grace period of 2 days and that really sucks! Overall, its pretty decent.
I landed upon this credit card when I had reached the limit on my other cards and I really needed one to meet my current expenses. My rating with the other cards weren't that great and so I couldn't extend my limit. First Progress really saved me then. The processing was quick, I did not have to wait for long to get my credentials verified and I got decent customer support to get my questions answered. Have been a happy user since then. Have defaulted twice in paying my bills on time, but then they have been courteous.
Whooping $95 a year for holding the credit card is a touch too high! Though there are quite a few bonus offerings being made, they are all only for purchases above a certain limit which would never fit my bill anytime soon! However, it does seem like a decent option for those travelling abroad, as there are no transaction fees being levied for foreign transactions. However, I still prefer to use my Chase Credit card as that offers better value for money! I get better points for the Chase card for far fewer purchases and the price for holding the card year on year is really really low compared to the British Airways!
When I moved out of my hometown to another state, I had a recommendation to use the Capital One credit card from my sister who had been using it for a while. Apart from the regular features and highly personalized customization I have received from First Source, they were quick to resolve an unauthorized purchase issue that impressed me the most! As soon as I noticed that the purchase was not done by me and reported to them, the issue was resolved within minuted. I guess, its not just selling a credit card that means business, it also means how well you service your existing customers that makes you withstand competition and I believe Capital One is second to none in this regard.
I have been an Expedia card user for a long time now. There is an important aspect that I would like to share as a part of the review which made me stick to using the card for a long time(about 6 yrs now). I used to make regular purchases with the card and I had no backlog/pending payment history. However, there came a time when I was short of money and I was defaulting for 6-7 months and the penalty started. When an executive contacted me regarding the overdue charges, I explained the situation to them and I immediately noticed the penalty being waived off! The explanation given was that I am a genuine customer for a long time and the company would like to waiver my penalty this one time considering my track record! Wonderful, isn't it?
