No credit card needed
I have had absolutely no problem having my checking account with Desert Schools. There was an upfront fee when I signed up but I think that it is worth it. That is because the fees associated with the account are very affordable. When I banked with Wells Fargo, I kept getting hit with huge fees. I also feel that the people working at Desert Schools are more friendly and down to earth. I always used to dread going to the bank but now I feel like I know a lot of the bankers personally. I also like that I got my debit card right when I opened an account. The only thing is I wish that more branches were available which would make banking here a lot more convenient.
I was extremely frustrated with Arizona Federal Credit Union. Perhaps it is because I only tried to get a mortgage with them. I have not really banked with them other than that. When I went to apply for a mortgage, I was told to open an account at the bank and had to pay a $30 non refundable fee. Then I found out that I was not even able to apply at the branch. The mortgage officer in charge there did not know the answers to many of my questions. There was a number that I had to call to make an application. However, when I called, someone picked up the phone and said they were no longer affiliated with Arizona Federal Credit Union. This was about one year ago so I am not sure if this was fixed. However, this situation showed their lack of professionalism and I definitely will not try to bank with them again.
I wish I had a credit card like this for the gas station I most often use. This BP credit card offers a fair APR, around 19 percent for regular purchases. I was looking at a similar card for ExxonMobil and their interest rate is almost 25 percent for regular purchases. Everyone likes saving on gas and so if you fill up at BP this is probably a good card to get. The initial offer is good but the ongoing discount of 15 cents per gallon up to 20 gallons for every 100 dollars spent at BP is not too shabby. I think this is normal for gas credit cards though since the Exxon one requires a minimum purchase of 45 gallons per month to get their six cent discount per gallon.
I like having my best buy store credit card because it gave me zero percent financing for up to fifteen months on certain purchases. This allowed me to buy myself an Apple laptop and pay it off fast. I was also able to purchase two Apple iPads for my wife and me. The one thing that really is not good and I had to find out the hard way is to make sure you are able to pay off the items on time if not they do make you pay back the interest that they did not charge you before for the fifteen months. Other than that, if you adhere to payment dates, this is a really great store financing credit card.
This was one of the first credit cards I got. It is equipped with blueprint which should help you pay off certain purchases faster. I haven't really looked into that however since I pay my credit card off right away. Once in awhile I get deals sent to me where if I borrow money the apr will be very low. These are in check forms and might be useful for some. I don't particularly like this card because as far as I know, I don't get any sort of points on it. I like to use credit cards that have points and then pay off my purchases immediately. The design of the card is pretty cool as the numbers aren't raised and the design is vertical versus horizontal.
