I was a Bank of America checking account customer for several years. I initially opened an account with them because it was who my employer banked with and it convent. The initial process of opening the account was easy. They even urged me to open a second checking account and convinced me with would also be free with added perks. I had no need for this account, but agreed for the perks. At this time charged started racking up on my first account. This went on for several months, I tried over and over again to get a clear answer from customer service and everyone gave me a different reason. When I was finally fed up and tried to close my account, they gave me issue with that as well. I encountered bad customer service and hidden fees. I will never bank with them again!
I opened a checking and savings account with Fidelity Bank in 2005 upon the recommendation of a close friend who had been banking there for years. I went in to her local branch and met with the manager who was a friend of her family, who was very nice, got my account opened, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I did not live near that branch so I did most of my banking at other branches and used their online and phone banking quite a bit. It didn't take long for me to realize that my "free" checking was anything but, there was always a new fee on my account, and more than once those fees caused my checking account to go into the negative, despite having more than enough to cover the fees in my savings. When I would try to resolve the matter with the bank, I was then met with more fees, in the form of overdraft fees. And despite having a large sum of money sitting in savings I was often talked down to and treated like a second class citizen because their fees on my free checking caused my account to overdraft. I felt cheated by this bank and couldn't move my money fast enough!
While this is card is not one of the best credit cards out there, it certainly seems to offer an acceptable rewards program. The cash back options and rewards programs make it worthwhile to use this card. The capital one credit card does have lower interest rates and a better reward program though and I would want to see more competition from this credit card company.
When my husband and I got married in 2009 I joined his Farmers auto policy with my car. Our agent was friendly and very helpful, he helped us find discounts and saved us a bunch of money. I only used the website a handful of times but it was easy to navigate. While insured with them a tree branch cracked my windshield during a storm, the claim process was painless. The payout was quick and they even set me up with a glass repair place that was able to come fix it right away and did a great job! Unfortunately, we did have to leave them when we bought a house last year, our HO insurance gave us a better rate on the bundle.
I have been with Wells Fargo for just over a year and I am pretty satisfied. They literally have branches everywhere I go and some even offer extended and Saturday hours. Even though they are a large company and we get all the perks that come with it, the staff at my local branch know me by name and are always professional and friendly. Both the website and mobile app are easy to navigate, and thanks to direct deposit we don't have to worry about any fees.
I have been a member of Navy Federal since 2009. I have checking, a savings, and an auto loan through them. I could not ask for a better bank. The checking account is easy to manage online. There are zero hidden fees. And their customer service is there to answer my questions 24/7. The only draw-back I have would be that when I joined I lived in a Military town and there was basically a branch on every corner, now I live outside of Atlanta and there is only one branch, it is about an hour away from me and has very limited hours.
