The Priceline credit card is great for people who travel a lot for business because of their points system. The bonus 5,000 points after your first purchase is a great incentive; however, you need to pay a great deal of attention to what your are spending and the points that you are accumulating to make getting this card worth it. You would also need to pay off your balance every month to avoid interest. I say that because there is no intro rate on balance transfers or on purchases like others cards such as Chase Slate, which offers 0% APR on balance transfers and purchases for 18 months. Other reward cards such as Bank of America offers a percentage cash back so you can calculate how much you would get back instead of in points. So, if you travel a lot, are careful, responsible, and have 100% capability of paying off your entire balance every month, then this card would be great for you. If not, I would consider getting something else with more attractive interest rate promotions.
US Bank is the only bank I have ever used for my checking account. A while ago when they began charging the $6.95 monthly fee, I was tempted to switch but since we have direct deposits over $1,000 the fee is waived. A few times we have had to contact the fraud department and everything was taken care of and we were not responsible for any of the charges. When I went on vacation they put a hold on my debit card so I was unable to use it until I called and verified that it was actually me who was trying to make purchases. I was frustrated at first but was grateful that they do that to ensure that my debit card information isn't stolen. Overall it is a basic checking account with few perks, but I don't have to pay a fee and they take care of me every time I have an issue. Years ago when we had a couple overdraft fees, they were nice enough to waive them.
About a year and a half ago we switched from Progressive to Esurance because their rates were significantly lower. We had to file a couple claims with Progressive and it was handled very well so I was sad to leave them, but our experience with Esurance has been good so far. They save a lot of money because they are paperless. You have to print out your own ID cards and everything is sent electronically which is convenient. You can also pay your premium monthly for a $5 fee instead of in full. You can change your payment date as well. The only complaint is that they don't have a glass clause in their policy. With Progressive we only had to pay $50 to replace our windshield but since our comprehensive deductible is $500, we have to pay for the replacement out of pocket. Windshields get broken a lot so I would like it better if they put in a glass clause option. Our premium also went up about $60 so it wasn't too bad. If it keeps going up I might have to search other options. Other than that they are inexpensive and the customer service is great.
We used this card to make a large purchase about a year ago. We got the 12 month deferred interest which was really helpful to us. We were able to make payments without having to pay any interest. This card is great if you know you will pay off the balance before the deferment period ends. If not you may have to end up paying high interest rates. So my advice is to look for special financing promotions. Other than that they are about the same as any other store card. The reward feature is great if you shop at Best Buy constantly. The special financing offer is great if you are making a one-time large purchase. Just be aware of the interest rates.
I had a higher interest credit card that I wanted to start paying off. Chase Slate offered 15 month no interest on balance transfers along with no balance transfer fee and 0% APR for the first 15 months as well. When the 15 months is over, the APR would be considerably less than my other Discover Card. So far everything has gone great. The Application process was easy, I was approved right away, and they transferred my balance without any additional paperwork. If you are looking to transfer your balance for $0 then this is the right card for you.
