No credit card needed
From reviewing this card, it seems to be a decent card. Compared to other monthly cards (Netspend and Rush Card) the no monthly fee is nice. Other cards charge sometimes $5.00 and will continue to take this funding even if there are no funds, that leaves the user in the negative. The free customer service is a bonus too. However the negative that I see is there no bill pay and a lot of people get their paychecks direct deposited and do not have time or the ability to go elsewhere to pay bills. Many like the option of being able to pay bills with their credit cards-I know I do.
This has been a GREAT card for me. This is a good way to continue to have good credit and encourages me to maintain a good credit score. I do not like carrying cash on me and knowing that every dollar amount that I charge using this card earns me points, is a HUGE bonus. You can then apply the earned points toward payments and other benefits. That can be a life saver for a college student especially because books and school supplies are very costly. Their customer service agents are always helpful and take their time when you call for any reason. I have never had a bad experience.
While living in Illinois temporarily I wanted a good, honest bank that would not stick me with fees. Sadly this bank is not the bank for that. They have wonderful customer service reps and the people within the bank try to do everything that they can to make a bad situation better but the headquarters does not allow that. Filling out and signing paperwork was easy, they didn't have anything that took longer than 20-30 minutes. I was surprised at the ease of that. But once a problem arose because there disclosure statements wasn't easy to understand they went out of their way to make it difficult for me. I was constently dealing with the run around and playing phone tag with various customer service agents that weren't even local. They were horrible about documenting conversations as well. I would never bank with them again.
This card does not offer any rewards, unlike many other cards that I use, for example my Netspend card. It offers cash back at the end of each month that is credited directly into my bank account. The fact that it lacks an auto bill option is very outdated. Prepaid credit cards even offer this. In today's busy days that is something that is extremely important to me. It does have a decent grace period of 25 days. But the late fee seems very high at $35, that is more than $1 per day as there is only 30-31 days in each month. I also notice that the APR rate is high and for those that would be using this card, it might be far reached for them to afford this.
Compared to my Meijer's card the APR is very high. But for those that pay off their bills quickly, they would avoid that. The high APR would not be beneficial for college students or people who are just trying to build their credit. I like the $10 bonus after your first $100 purchase as Menards has items for all areas of the home, including some limited clothing. The fact that they offer rebates at places like Speedway are also a bonus, because then you are able to earn points for gas, and buying snacks on the go, throughout the entire US, where Menards may not be present. Overall, it is a decent card minus the high APR.
