No credit card needed
I dislike automated customer service with a passion, I never am able to resolve my issues in a prompt time period because I am stuck getting a computer over and over again. The $1 monthly fee isn't too bad, although not preferred. I appreciate that there is also no cancellation fee incase something were to cause me cancel.
I have had this card for almost three years and it has been a great help when I am in between paychecks and need some of my basic household items. When I signed up, I was given a $30 dollar gift card to put towards a purchase so that was also a nice benefit. It is the only credit card I have ever had, and don't plan on getting more, but if they were all as easy going as this, then I would gladly do it all over again.
I switched from State Farm over to Liberty Mutual after I saw that I could get a much cheaper rate for the same amount of coverage. The application process was very easy, and I haven't had any difficulties yet. They provide just the perfect amount of communication and I have yet to get spammed in my email with a bunch of other junk. I feel confident that if something were to happen to me, Liberty Mutual would have my back.
I joined this credit union at the recommendation of my roommate, who switched over from a pretty large bank after not getting the customer service she felt she deserved. I was a little apprehensive since I am used to places that I can access over wide areas since I travel a lot but I figured what the heck. It was a breeze to apply, and it is pretty up to date on technology. I have a checking account with them. You speak with the employee via video screen and it feels very "jetsons". I love it, and will never go with a large bank again.
I have been with Farmers for a little under a year. I searched around after moving and having hearing good things from friends, decided to try them out. Within a couple of months, I had an issue that needed to be resolved and they went above and beyond to help me recover what I could from what had been taken after a fellow housemates party got a little out of control. I could not have asked for a smoother process and more helpful customer service.
I moved to Portland and had to get a new bank account and heard great things about Umpqua. I have had this account for one month now and it is honestly the best bank I have yet to be a part of. The only issue I have come across is that it took me quite awhile to get my debit card since they are such a small bank that they cant make them for you at the store. So in turn, I was without a debit card for ten days which proved to be quite difficult. Once I got the card however, it was smooth sailing.
I am not usually a fan of credit card terms, and often find them sneaky.. this Sears Credit Card seems to be no exception. They get you with the "no interest for a year" and then you look at the average rate. Once that year is done, you are swamped with it! This card also offers no rewards which is a big downside to me. It's nice to feel a connection to a company, and have them show that they appreciate your business. While this card might be useful in a pinch, in the long run, I would look elsewhere.
