I often use my WalMart card, and I love it. I also pay all my bills online, and they recently redid their website. It is so much easier now to navigate, and a side benefit is that my credit report comes with it free-of-charge. The interest rate is a bit high, so I try to pay it off every month. Other than that, this is a great card to have when you’re short on cash and need to buy some things in between paychecks.
When we were buying a new car, we went through First Niagara because of their great rates. In a very short period of time, we were able to open an account. While we were doing that, I met several people in our local branch, and everyone is great. Everyone we met that day was very service-oriented. They were very prompt on getting all the paperwork done in a timely fashion, and everything went smoothly from the initial application to signing the paperwork.
Like the other reviews pointed out, the APR on this card is really high. It’s too bad, really, because the card is pretty good otherwise. It’s got some nice benefits associated with it, and the online interface where can pay your bill online is really use to navigate. They also have great customer service. Over the eleven years we’ve had this card, we have accidentally paid our bill a few days late, and they have always been really good about waiving the late fee.
This past summer, our insurance carrier raised our rates by ten percent, which is significant, considering that we have a male teenage driver on our policy. When we started checking around, we found that the costs weren’t that different, so we were delighted to find that Nationwide was not only less expensive but that we were able to sign up for even better coverage. We now have all our policies with Nationwide. Our local agent is great and very responsive. When our son’s driving habits were less than stellar, he even talked to him about how his driving habits directly impacted costs. That kind of personal attention would have been impossible at our previous carrier, and we are so glad we switched.
Ten years ago, when we moved to a different city, we opened a checking account at our local branch. The staff is friendly, courteous, and great at helping find solutions. That was immediately obvious when we hit a glitch on the closing of our house. Even though our checking account was brand new, they were able they were able to help us overcome the problem we had run into, and everything has been smooth sailing with them ever since. We also have their credit card, and it’s got some great benefits too. Overall, we are very happy with our bank, and we’ve never even considered switching from them.
When my husband and I were purchasing a car for our oldest son, we were having trouble getting financing around the Thanksgiving holidays. Not only did they stay in touch, but we had everything locked down heading into the week right after Thanksgiving. Every time I’ve been in there, I have heard them greet each customer by name when they walk in the door, which is not only refreshing, but makes me really glad that this is where we have not only the financing for my son’s car loan but for mine too.
