I have mixed feelings about my Chase savings account. I do not like the minimum balance requirement and I hate the fees if you do not contribute. But, for convenience reasons with the ease of transferring funds to another account (like my checking account with Chase), I do really like this savings account. The website is super easy to use and it is really easy to save with this account. I have an account with direct deposit with Chase that is linked to the savings account, so that every time my check goes through a portion of that check is automatically transferred into my savings account. Super convenient!
So I have been a customer with Wells Fargo (formerly, First Union and then Wachovia) for over 15 years. I have always had free checking. No strings attached. No minimum balance, no automatic deposit requirement and no requirement to use your debit card a certain amount of times during the month. This year things changed and I am now thinking of closing my account. All of the sudden, with no notice, I was being charged a monthly service fee. I know its not much for some, but with little income every dollar matters. I am very disappointing with banks in general now charging to use their services. Especially a bank I have been with for so many years.
I recently became a capital one 360 customer and I have to say I am very pleased so far. The customer service has been great and I love the ease of their website. It is very user-friendly. The only reason I gave this company a 4 star rating is because I really wish there were more ATMs available. There are too few and all of the ATMs ( at least in my area) are in stores. I would love if they would put in a drive up ATM somewhere in my area.
So, I just recently signed up for the Capital One 360 checking account. They were running a promotion to recieve $100.00 to open up an account. After having the account for a few months now, I have to say I am surprised at how much I like the account and company. The customer service has been great. When first opening my account, I had a lot of questions about transfering funds. When one of my transfers did not go through as quickly as I thought it would (totally my fault in the end), I called the customer service line. I was immediatly talking to an actual person who was very patient and very helpful in resolving the issue. They do not seem pushy to try to upsell anything and they seem genuinly willing to help.
