No credit card needed
My family has been using Progressive for about 20 years now and so far I haven't had a reason to switch. I've had to replace the front windshield on my car twice in the last 5 years, and their claims adjusters were always very prompt and arranged service promptly. Nothing to complain about so far other than the occasion hike in premiums.
I have recently switched over to BB&T from my credit union and I have to say that I made the right decision. First off, I was able to open an account online which made the process all the easier. Each of the customer service representatives that I have dealt with from the local branch and even to their after hours call center have been courteous and kind, unlike my prior bank where I just seemed to get nothing but snide remarks. Additionally, whenever you open a checking account, they are able to provide you with a temporary check card while you are waiting for the permanent card to show up. Their online features allow for a clear view of my account.
I opened a savings account online after setting up a checking account. The process was very intuitive and I've had no issues since. Also, BB&T's customer service is top notch. In addition to the staff at my local branches being very knowledgeable when I have stopped by in person, they also call periodically just to see if I have any questions or issues with my accounts. Additionally, the process of transferring and depositing money in person and online is vastly superior to that of my prior bank. Also, there were no fees with this account since I was a prior account holder, which is always a bonus.
I've had an account here for almost 10 years and will be searching for an alternative bank. The bank is fine with the exception of having issues tied to their procedures for fraudulent activities. If your account is compromised with them they will logically cancel your debit card and proceed with the normal security measures. The problem however arises that within the 7-10 business days you have to wait for your new card, they do not have the ability to grant you a temporary ATM card. As a result, you have to go to a branch during their business hours to make a withdrawal or deposit. As someone that works 8-5 Monday through Friday, their hours are not always easy to navigate around. For example certain branches do not open until 9 or later. As a result, I had to drive out of my way to go to a branch that was further away just to go to one that had drive through hours before 9 o'clock. In short: It's a fine institution if you can guarantee that you'll never be the victim of fraud. But you can't...
